"Holy fuck!" Gee screamed as she was looking down at my ring a few days later. "You guys really did it!"

Leah stood behind her, arms wrapped around her belly as she rested her chin on the shorter girl's shoulder and kissed her ear. "You want one of those baby girl?"

Gee dropped her head, then spun around in Leah's arms. "Yeah, but we can wait. I don't want to push for it. I just love being with you, and that is enough for me."

"Gee, you know you're my future," Leah assured the girl. "I know that sooner or later you'll get yours too."

I did feel bad, since I didn't want to put pressure on the other couples just because Skye and I wanted to go to the next step. As we found out the next day, we had done the same thing that Imani and Zara had done. We'd even done it the same day, with Imani proposing to Zara on Christmas morning. Luckily, Gee made very sure that Leah understood she didn't mind waiting, because Leah had started to freak out a bit that she was the only one not proposing.

Hearing it from Gee a few extra times helped make Leah feel better. The weird thing is, I think they both wanted to be married to each other, but they both were worried that the other might think it was too fast. Hell, it probably was too fast, but they'd been seeing each other for longer than Skye and I, but it was still fast. At least Zara and Imani had been dating since their senior year of high school, so they had been waiting for almost three years.

It still wouldn't shock me if Leah asked sometime after the basketball season.

The few weeks after the holidays brought us a bunch more basketball games. I got to see my old friend Nadia when Florida State came to visit, then we swept a two game road trip that included a visit to 7th ranked Virginia Tech and then right back down to Miami where mom and Ray got to come see me play again. A big game against 5th ranked Notre Dame was up next, and that was the toughest game of the season so far. They got us at a bad time too, since Leah had pulled her hamstring in Miami, and wasn't at full strength.

It was our first loss, 87-84, and we didn't like it at all. I don't want to say we'd become complacent since we'd beating all of the other teams handily, even ranked ones like Virginia Tech, but perhaps we had. But we wouldn't do so again!

We bounced back a few days later with a win against Virginia, and then all hell broke loose. The next team on the schedule was our first game against the NC State Wolfpack. They were already a rival since the campuses were only a half hour drive from each other and we both were quality teams, but the added drama of Leah and I switching over to the Tar Heels and the news of Tegan getting me kicked off the team made the news cycle a madhouse. It had been a quiet couple of months, with little talk about the video and the bad blood between us after the initial flurry. But with the game coming up, it was all that the local news and the talking heads on ESPN and other sports networks could talk about.

It got so bad that some reporters tried to ambush us after practice, and Coach Bates had enough, scheduling a new conference with Leah and I with the reporters to get all their questions answered and keep them from bothering us all the time. I liked that plan, because while I didn't care too much about being interviewed, the last thing I wanted was for them to follow me home and get Skye involved before she passed the bar exam and her dad found out about us and caused drama.

Besides, the questions were predictable. So much so that Leah was cackling beforehand at the thought of being able to trash Tegan a little. We didn't mind causing a little drama in the Wolfpack locker room before the game at all! Was it petty? Perhaps. But it was already out there, and not answering would only invite speculation that I didn't want to have to deal with.
