We'd had a couple of away games already. Single overnight trips to play against James Madison University, and again against South Carolina State. Those of us with partners didn't like being away from them, but we were back the next day and were able to get our long overdue hugs. But the Sunday after Thanksgiving we were going on a longer road trip. While I was looking forward to playing, I wasn't looking forward to being on the road for five nights.

               We flew to Iowa on Sunday for a game against the Iowa State Cyclones, and then were taking a trip to Indiana for a game against the Hoosiers. We'd be away in between in a cheap hotel after a bus ride while taking care of our classes online and practicing. It was going to suck, but I guess it was what I'd signed up for.

               The good thing was that the team was really close. We were all in the same boat and going through the same issues. Assignments needed to be done, practices held, facetime calls made, and people missed. I felt the worst for Gee. She pretty much lived at Leah's now, and with her not there she just stayed back in the dorm because she had no car to get back and forth to campus. That was like being in a hotel these days. She had never been given a new roommate with me gone, and she had to pack an overnight bag just to go back since everything was back at Leah's.

               "I'm teaching you to drive when I get back!" I heard Leah tell her the night after the first game. We'd won 88-72 and were feeling good. "I don't want you to have to leave our bed anymore, okay baby girl?"

               "Okay, thanks!" I could hear Gee sniffling, and I knew what I had to do. "I miss you so much Leah, you have no idea."

               I stepped outside, not wanting to intrude on their conversation and walked out to the parking lot of the little motel we were in before pulling out my phone and calling up Skye. "Hey babe!" she picked up almost immediately, and I couldn't help but smile at her voice.

               "Lonely! I miss my bed warmer. But when she gets home, I'm gonna ride her for hours to make up for lost time!" she purred into my ear.
