Heloyse

A throbbing pain seemed to slice through my head when I opened my eyes. The brightness was so strong that I closed them again to avoid discomfort.
- Water...
- Oh my God! You woke up, honey. I'll call the doctor.
- Water...!
My throat burned and the burning only subsided after Cielo helped me with a glass of water.
- What happened?
"Don't you remember, dear?"
- More or less. I remember the fight, my nose... Will? Where he is?
- Calm! Don't talk so much. I'll call the doctor.
When the doctor arrived, I was examined and listened to him speak.
Even after the medication, the pain was unavoidable. Everything hurt and to top it off, a terrible cramp was driving me crazy.
“It's normal for this to happen. You hit your head and got a cut. Apparently, everything is ok, even so, we need to observe over the days if there wasn't any sequel. And you need to notify when you feel nauseous, dizzy, migraine or whatever. The head cut required six stitches. His ring finger on his left hand was broken, so he's immobilized. Some of the veins in your nose have been severed, so you'll be wearing the gauze for forty-eight hours. The swelling on your face will get better in a few days. And I suggest you don't talk too much. Rest is essential, especially in your condition. Now, I would like you to leave us alone,” he said to Cielo.
After the door was closed, the doctor made some notes on the clipboard to later address me.
"Did you know you were pregnant?"
"Actually, I had forgotten", I thought.
“I had suspected. Did something happen?
— Your pregnancy was very recent. She still wouldn't show it on the ultrasound anyway, it was found in her blood work.
"What do you mean, "was"?
— Well, the scare, the impact of the accident, contributed to your pregnancy being terminated. Maybe she doesn't need curettage, due to the short gestation period. We need to observe if her body will spontaneously expel.
And while the doctor explained all the procedures, exams and care, I just thought about how much I wanted that child. It was a piece of him in me. If one day it all ended, there would be something left that would remind me of him every day. Now, I didn't have it anymore. I said goodbye to someone I hadn't met and whom I loved even before I met.
–– Please, I don't want anyone to know. Not now,” I told the doctor after he finished explaining.
Minutes later he called Cielo and explained how my rest would be, omitting the pregnancy that I no longer had, to her.
“How are you feeling, dear?”
"Like a car had hit me." Even turning the neck, it hurts
“I'm glad to hear you talk. You gave a good scare.
— Sky, where is Will?
“He's at the farm.
"You could let him know I'm already awake."
“I already did.
"And what time does he come?"
skytook my hand and smiled.
- Soon.
Hours later, when I was alone in the room and no one could see all my disgrace, I cried. I cried in pain, in sadness. And when I ran my hand over my belly, there was an emptiness installed in me.
