Chapter 28 : Fixer's Findings
YN's POV
Getting into Takemuras rustbucket of a car he asks "Ji-Ji Street… What is this name?"
"Just a night city name" V Replies
"Beware - you mock me too often"
I'm currently sitting in the back of the van that has no seats so it's a bumpy ride listening to them bickering.
"You all right, Goro?" V asks as i lay back looking straight up at the van ceiling
"Yes, Why the sudden concern?" Takemura asks
"Uh, Just asking? Does everything with you have to have an ulterior motive?" V remarks
"I apologize, That came off wrong, I, Erm… i am simply not use to such questions, People like me - Either we are doing well, Or we are in a grave" Takemura states
"They still do graves in Japan? Thought everywhere was all cremation nowadays" I think out loud.
"True, If one is rich enough though it is not an issue" Takemura says
"Eddies, Trump all eh?"
"Yep" V Says
"Any Idea what's going on at Arasaka?" V asks
"Only what i can surmise from what i see on TV, Yorinobu and his puppets grin at the cameras and insist everything is under control, But the wider the Smile, The bigger the lies" Takemura says whilst his Accent comes out more strongly when he says "Lies"
The rest of the ride is relatively quiet but we get there pretty fast, Takemuras Car may be a rust bucket but it didn't break down so that's good.
Getting out of the Van following behind V and Takemura and following them further into Jig-Jig Street is like following them into a den of debauchery and sin, Which in reality it is.
As we all pass we get Cat Called and Propositioned by the Joy Toys, Walking into a non discrete looking building full of people Gambling and into the back where this apparent Wakako is were met with the Women herself on the phone with none other than rogue, The only part of the conversation i can hear is "Rogue, My Sweet, This has got to be a Misunderstanding, I've no idea who jumped your team, But the Claws? No, Never, My boys know their place, I'm sorry I've got to go I've got guests" Wakako puts down the phone and looks at Takemura and V apparently not noticing me behind them not like I really care. I'd rather hear what she has to say first.
"Well, Well… Who do i spy but V - In my humble parlor no less" Wakako
"Wakako, Long time no see" V responds
"So what brings you here? And your charming Friend is..?" Wakako Asks
"Happen to be workin' Together, That's all" V says
"Goro Takemura, The Honor is all mine, Okada-San" Takemura says in full Japanese, Thank god for Translation chips.
"Haaa… A True gentleman!" Wakako states as she stand from her chair
"Shame, Only, That he's being hunted by all of Arasaka's Tin Soldiers, And you V bring him to my door, Gimme one reason why i shouldn't notify "proper authorities" right away" Wakako Threatens
Deciding to speak up i state "Cause you'd make more enemies than friends, Plus Arasaka don't discriminate, Zero you just as fast as any of us"
V moves out of the way a little bit to give me an view at Wakako who seems upset until i pull out her card that her Goons gave me long ago and slide it on her desk wordlessly
"Ah, Of Course… So tell me, ''What is it you want?" She inquires
"Need intel on the parade that's scheduled to come through Japantown" V says
"So it's Arasaka… Again" Wakako says and stays quiet for a bit
"Who else would it be besides the most talked about Company in the world right now?"
"What I fail to understand is, Why come to me? Did Mr.Deshawn not come to the phone?" Wakako Asks
"Arasaka, Tyger Claws - Kinda like the family dog screwing the cat, Hm, Can't possibly be fond of the people who killed your grandkid" V says
'Really fucking weird Analogy but ok i guess…'
"That was very long ago" Wakako says
"Time's the best healer? Wound like that, Though…" V remarks
"A wound like that, No, Everything's on the Shards" Wakako says as he puts her hands on the table
"How much does this cost? My pockets are empty" Takemura says
"Clearly, My gift to you, Its free" Wakako says
"Okada-San… What is free often proved most costly" Takemura says
"Gonna take them or not?" Okada says
V grabs the shard and puts it in her port as Wakako explains
"Japantown, Whole district is to be sealed off for the Parade, Dashi Platforms, The Main Attraction, They'll fly this way, High above street level, Along the Parade Route - Balconies, Footbridges and Vantage Points, Affording Good views, Hanako Arasaka, The Guest of Honor, Will deliver her speech, from the Largest float, She'll do this exactly here, Go no idea about security, But given recent events, Expect it to be tight, Our Last Parade? Arasaka undercovers infiltrated the crowd, Not to mention a smattering of Sharpshooters, Drones, And if that's not enough fun for one day, A netrunner, One at least, These use the cities CCTV to observe everything, Main Access point here - An old automated control center, if you ask me, Most useful by far, At the end the floats will float out of Japantown, And we'll be left will trash up to our elbows that no one will collect" Wakako says finishing her monologue while i try to imagine what all that would look like.
Resigning from that and noting that to myself to check the shard later.
"That's it, All i have" Wakako says
"It must be enough" Takemura says
"Then go, Be on your way" Wakako states clearly annoyed.
"Thanks, Wakako" V says as Wakako sends me her details and a message that we will talk later. Nodding, I just followed Takemura out as V said Wakako owes her money for a Job.
Waiting for her to leave by the entrance, Takemura tells me to tell her that he shall call when her assistance is needed and Also surprisingly sends me his details too.
