Jeremy

I was beyond glad that Emma and I got to drive the racecar. Sure, we would never get to drive it to our graduation, but at least we had to chance to drive it to prom. Prom is almost as important as graduation. Alright, maybe it's not as important, but still. How could prom not be important with Hailey as my date? And even though the theme of our prom was pretty much a cliché at this point, all that mattered was that I was with Hailey. Yes, the theme was "A Night in Paris." That has been the theme for pretty much the last couple of years. Apparently, thinking of a theme is too much work.

As a herd of students was gathering in the gym, the band was already on-stage playing music.

"I swear by the moon and the stars in the skies

And I swear like the shadow that's by your side."

"Oh my gosh," called out Hailey in excitement. "Like, I love this song so much. I haven't actually heard this song in forever."

Just like that, we began a slow and heartfelt dance. In the next few minutes, we enjoyed each other's sight. Hailey was stunningly beautiful that night. Somehow, sparkles in her eyes made them stand out with vibrance. Her soothingly soft baby skin radiated so much beauty thanks to her purple dress. And the lips of her smile made my own lips want to kiss her. My whole body trembled at the very thought. This imperfect girl was perfect. Maybe nobody else saw it, but I could definitely see it.

"By any chance, have you decided where you're going in the fall?" I asked. "I mean, we could decide right now where we both want to go. That way, we could go together.

"Nope, I haven't decided," she chuckled. "But I have an idea. Instead, of deciding right now where to go, let's individually decide where we want to go. If we're meant to go to the same school, it'll happen."

For some reason, that idea sounded almost perfect, and yet, it seemed like the worst idea ever. But like she said, if it's meant to be, it'll be." What was this girl doing to me?

Emma

"Thanks for asking me to be your date," I thanked Hector as we danced a slow dance.

"Hey, it's no problem. Thanks for saying yes to being my date."

I couldn't help but chuckle. The boy looked absolutely stunning that night. In fact, he seemed confident and somehow knew how to take charge. Hector was also friendly. What girl wouldn't want that?

"You know," I began. "Back in sixth grade, you were such a weird and awkward person. And if I'm being honest, you creeped me out a little."

"Not much has changed," he laughed while placing a thumb on my nose. "I'm still the same weird, awkward, and creepy boy from sixth grade. But I guess I'm better at hiding it. Guess you could say I matured a little." That thumb was moving towards my lips. What was this boy trying to do? "If you think about it, you were also a little strange back in the day."

"I was strange?" I couldn't help but laugh as I was moments away from howling like a hyena. "How was I strange? Give me one example." A smile both lit up our faces.

"Well for starters, back in sixth grade, you were a quiet and shy little girl. You would sometimes go into the bathroom to cry before lunch. In seventh grade, we both had Mr. Xavier. I would always sit behind you and notice how you always played with your little hot wheel while bopping your head and somehow, you would get away with it. Of course, I always appreciated your honesty."

My cheeks began to blush in embarrassment. "Oh my gosh, I completely forgot that I used to do that."

"No big deal," Hector continued with that thumb searching the top of my lips. "We were both a little weird, but you never did realize how strange you were."

"So, what's your favorite movie?" I asked trying to get to know him a little.

"Forest Gump," he replied without an ounce of hesitation. "You have to admire Forest's undying love for Jenny. Sad how Jenny never loved him back. Like some people I know.

With a growing smile, I responded. "That's definitely in my top five. But my all-time favorite movie is Selena. Forest Gump doesn't even compare to that movie."

Hector gave no verbal response. Instead, he used his thumb to shut my lips. My heart knew what was coming and jumped in anticipation. With no time wasting, the boy placed his palm against my cheek and used his other hand to grab my hand. Just like that, his lips traveled toward mine and made a crash course. What starts as a small peck quickly turns into one long gigantic force of motion. Our mouths couldn't stay off of each other. For some reason, this felt all so right. After a couple of minutes, the kissing ended and we both shared a grin. My grin was a bit more on the shy side with red cheeks.

"So, what's your favorite television show?" I awkwardly asked in hopes he would respond.

"Tell you what," Hector replied. "How about I tell you tomorrow on a date? We can talk all about our favorite movies, shows, and music."

"Really? Where?" It was hard not to be excited. All I wanted to discuss was Selena.

"Meet me at the park and we'll go from there."

After I agreed to go on a date, we both spotted Ted from a distance. To nobody's shock, he was handsomely dressed, but he certainly looked pissed. In fact, he had held onto three glasses of punch. My heart feared that he was on the search for Jeremy and Hailey.

"Looks like someone didn't get a date tonight," stated Hector. "Poor bastard. Hailey was smart to dump that idiot. Good for her."
