A long time

Peter's eyes continue to watch me.

My smile fades as I take a closer look at his beaten figure.

"Oh god.. Peter.."

I walk over to him and kneel in front of him.

I study each and every mark, bruise, bump, and open wound on him.

My eyes meet his.

I lift my hand up to his swollen cheek.

He must be so exhausted..

"Let's get you out of here"

I reach my arms around him to cut his restraints.

Once the last piece of rope falls I feel Peter's whole weight lean against me.

I catch him before he completely slips off the chair.

"It's ok, I got you" I whisper.

He buries his face in the crook of my neck as I walk him over to the back wall.

I Carefully set him down against the wall.

He lets out a grunt as his face squints from the pain.

I sit down beside him.

I slip the strip of cloth from my hair and place it against the cold marble floor.

I don't have any water so a cold floor will have to do.

I look over at Peter.

He's breathing heavily.

I lean my head against the wall.

"Peter, I'm so sorry.. I had no idea she would- I shouldn't have trusted her..
It's my fault, now your-"

Peters hand slips under my chin in a quick motion and he pulls my head towards him.

My eyes widen as his hot lips press against mine.

A tear rolls down my face as I close my  eyes and kiss back.

God I've missed this feeling...

Our kiss breaks and Peter's eyes meet mine.

Peter: " Don't ever blame yourself for what happened today. None of this is your fault. You did what anyone else would or could have done in your position."

More tears roll down my face as I choke out a sob.

"Peter I put you through so much pain.."

Turn away from him, unable to look him in the eyes.

Peter caresses my check with a shakey hand.

I look over at him.

Peter: " You could never hurt me, not more than they have."

I give a small nod. Not fully convinced with what he said.

I reach over for the cloth I placed on the floor.

The marble floor cooled the cloth off.

I reach over and tie it around Peter's head so it presses against his swollen cheek.

"Does that feel a little better?"

He gives a gentle smile and nods.

I smile back.

Peter: "How did you do it.."

"Do what?"

He gestures to the cameras.

Peter: " when the guards were ranting, I noticed the lights on them go off. How did you manage to disable them let alone get to the room without getting caught?"
