I have a plan

Peter and I talked for what felt like hours.

His voice was so peaceful I could almost fall asleep to it.

He asked me questions about my life. I left out everything about Eleven because I don't want anyone knowing anything about her or the fact that she's free from this place because they might end up going after her and that's the last thing I want.

Peter: " your life sounds very eventful, going on all those adventures".

"Yeah, it was".

Of course, my life is completely different now. And who knows how long it will be till I can go back.

Peter picks up a white pawn from the board.

He moves it swiftly around in between his fingers.

Peter:"wanna play?"

He gives me a competitive grin.

I grin back at him and slam a black piece on new square of the board.

"Your move pretty boy" I grin.

He smirks and makes his move.

The game goes on for a while, I analyze each possible outcome to the game if I were to move to a certain spot.

I've never lost a game in my life.

The closest I've ever gotten to losing was a draw.

Peter moves his piece right after I move mine like he knows exactly where to go.

I, on the other hand, take my time.

Peters gaze is on me.

I glance up at him.

"What?"

Peter: "your just very interesting to watch." He smiles.

I stare at him and make my next move without breaking eye contact.

He does the same thing right back.

How is he so confident in his moves?

Peter rests his elbows on the table and folds his hands in front of him, resting them under his chin.

He smiles and tilts his head to the side, waited for my next move.

God, I can't focus when he's staring at me like that.

Without even realizing it, I move my piece.

As I hear the sound of it hitting the board I look down, stunned.

Why did I just do that?!

Peter gives a grin and gently knocks over my piece and takes it in his hand, fiddling with it.

Peter:"Don't look so disappointed 017, we can't all win the game".

I feel like he wasn't referring to the game of chess in front of us when he said that.

I grit my teeth and look down at the board.

I can still win.

I look up at him and take my next move.

(Time skip)

We're at the final draw.

It all comes down to his next move.
The entire time we were playing he would always move without a second thought. But this time he's actually taking his time, studying the board.

Is he trying to throw me off or is he really thinking about this?

Peter:" Your lurking" he says. His eyes still on the board.
