You inhale a deep breath as you open your eyes and glance at the bright sun above you. The waves are splashing gently against the rocks next to you. You can feel the warmth of the sand underneath you, as you turn your head to your left and peer at his sleeping figure. You smile softly to yourself before you look around and see the ants have reached the cheese and crackers and the sand has already found its way into the empty wine bottles.

You sigh realizing you'll have to deal with that later. Your attention shifts back to Niall as your eyes roam his back beneath the sun, and at that moment you wish you could write your name on it... sort of like you did last night. You chuckle to yourself recalling the previous night, how the two of you were twisted in the bedsheets.

The mixture of the salt air and the wine on your tongue makes you feel a little giddy thinking about all the wondrous times you've spent with Niall. The gentle breeze pulls you back to reality and you let out yet another sigh.

You always found yourself spending the summers with Niall, whether you two would take an extravagant trip to anywhere between Europe or as simple as to one of your flats. But he isn't yours and he probably never will be.

Over time you've fallen in love with him but you know he doesn't reciprocate those feelings. So much for summer love and saying "us" you quietly thought to yourself as you took a sip of wine wistfully looking at Niall. You two have been hanging out and getting together since your late college days and you think back to when you'd lie awake at night thinking "Will he call me when he's back at school?" And he rarely ever did. He normally reached out around mid-June, always offering some type of trip somewhere or a night spent over at his house where he'd cook dinner for you, and you'd chat and catch up, and then there'd be lots and lots of sex... But one day would turn into another, and another would turn into another, and eventually, you two would end up spending the entire summer together. And this occurred every single year.

How could you not fall for someone as charming as Niall? You figured he kept you around because the sex was good and you two always had great banter and a relaxed time together. But at this point, you had stooped so low as to not even care because you have been deeply in love with him for over a year now.

You take another swig of the expensive wine, the taste leaving a bitter feeling in your mouth. You stand up abruptly and swipe the remaining sand off of yourself as you made your way to the villa in Martha's Vineyard, that you two had rented for the week.

You walked through the glass french doors that Niall had left open as you made your way to your shared room. You grabbed a random t-shirt of his and a pair of your sweats as you made your way to the breathtaking master bathroom.

You sat the clothes on the counter and turned on the faucet. As the water began to warm up you slid your yellow sundress over your head and discarded it in the laundry basket. You gingerly stepped into the gigantic shower sticking your hand out to feel the water temperature.

Satisfied, you close the door and step under the flow of the warm water. You run the lemon-scented shampoo through your hair and tilt your head back to let the water rinse it out. "God you're beautiful" he stated with a slight rasp in his voice.

You gasp lightly and quickly turn your head to see his figure leaning in the doorway. You were completely unaware of another presence being in the room but there he was, watching you. "Niall!" you exclaimed as you went to cover yourself as much as you could, they were glass doors after all. He chuckles as he makes his way closer to you, his sparkling eyes peering down at you as you make a lame attempt to cover up. "Don't worry darling" he says with a smirk on his face "I've seen it all". Your jaw drops and heat rises in your cheeks but you quickly compose yourself with a sly smirk.
