chapter 23: D-Day

it was D-Day, match day the most awaited day for the 23 and jake

what happens to their confidence depends on this game and here Jae was, getting worked up by her mother 

"JAE HAVE YOU TAKEN SOME GLUCOSE SUPPLEMENTS?! WHAT IF YOU FAINT ON THE FIELD?! PLEASE HAVE A GOOD BREAKFAST AND DONT LISTEN TO YOUR ROACH IF HE TELLS YOU NOT TO BUT PLEASE LISTEN TO HIM ON THE FIELD" yea worked up, she was all worked up 

more than Jae, mother Byun was nervous for her daughter like she never has been 

"JAE YOUR WATER BOTTLE" she ran outside the house to give it to her 

"MOM" she yelled while glaring at her because their neighbour who was standing in his yard getting into his car was looking at them

"eh haha sorry Jae but just I worry a lot here you go, be my champ kid okay? don't be a bitch on the field, mom loves you" she said while coming next to her and ended it by kissing her cheek 

that surely did enrage Jae more

"MOM FINE I AM NOT A BABY UH," she said and almost ran away while riding her cycle away from her mom and her neighbour; roach

"HAVE YOU ALL TAKEN YOUR BAGS AND EVERYTHING?" he asked all of the 23 as they all were seated in the bus ready to leave for the match

"YES JAKE (COACH)" 

"CAN WE LEAVE NOW?" he asked once again

"YES JAKE (COACH)"  they assured once again and he stepped down from the bus and had one last word with the principal

"ok we can leave now," he said to the principal 

"thank you jake, you are going to miss your classes today just for the match we can arrange an extra class for you," the principal said feeling guilty over the fact that a senior student was coaching a team

"oh no, no need for that I'll just study with my friends later," he said and shook his head

"thank you jake and I am sure they'll win because of your training I won't lie but once or twice I saw you train with them and one separate girl who was the captain I am happy you are making them good players" the old woman just smile at him signalling him that he can leave now

"it's ok, I was appointed for that don't worry much about it," he said and climbed the bus 

"DO WELL TEAM" the principal cheered for them and they just thanked her from inside the bus that was now heading to the university they were playing against 

in the middle of the journey, jake got up from his seat and came towards the last seats of the bus

exactly where she was with her friends

"here are your identity cards make sure you wear them until you are ready to go on the field and hand them over to me then," he said and handed out minji her identity card

"here you go," he said to Jae who grabbed it while looking at her phone and no he didn't leave it just looked at her until she looked back at him 

"here you go" he repeated while swimming into her eyes

"thanks" she took it pulled it while glaring at him 

"please move ahead" sera cleared her throat and spoke to which he turned to where her seat was and glared at her and gave semi her identity card

after distributing it all he sat once again on the first seat without anyone and with his earphones plugged in tried calming down himself and his nervousness for the first-ever game his team was going to play, the team that he trained every day, the team he tortures like no one else. he was going to see whether today it was going to pay off well
