chapter 9:hidey-hole

"what will we even do? just the two of us" Jae asked him with a fake focused face and blinked her eyes multiple times

"now that we've done 30 rounds of our warm-up, get the cones here and come," he told her while just looking away 

she got the cones and just kept them there



"it's 4:30 am please be serious on whatever you do coach" Jae rolled her eyes in annoyance after saying that



"I am here with you so it is obviously something important"

"I've seen you a lot, I've seen your face when I am with sera and it was obvious, something was wrong," he said and did what he did yesterday, stared through her eyes as if he was finding something in them

"so? I just don't like that bitch, she is just ew" she didn't look at him 

"rule no.8 always look at me while talking to me," he said coldly and continued to stare at her she removed her eyes from the ground and looked at him

"go ahead coach, tell me what do you mean by bringing up sera in this" 

"What I mean is, you are a good player a very good player so I want you to be the captain of the women's team of soccer of our school" and that was it, her eyes widened


why me" 

"you are a good striker and that's what we need" 

"so for this, you made me come here so early?" Jae said in disbelief 

"yes, and this will be a thing that'll happen every day, the men's and women's  team captain needs to practice more, to show they aren't just the captain for namesake but are overall better than the other players if you cant do it, there is always the vice-captain who will replace you if you back out"

"who is the vice-captain?"

"Kwon sera"

"then no way in hell am I backing out"

"then place the cone in a line with proper distances and better come here at 4:00 am sharp without a delay or else there is always sera who can be a good captain too" 

"I think I told you no way in hell am I doing that so just do what we have come for here, lets do a couple of drills of our own"

semi and minji being the first ones to come to the field stared at Jae and jake who were trying to play some kind of soccer by just snatching the ball from one other and saving it from going out of the field, they were sweating as if someone toppled a bucket of water on them and finally jake scored a goal smoothly and stared at Jae with his cold stare meanwhile she just stared at the ball then glared at Jake, and then started talking among themselves that wasn't audible to semi and minji but what they were talking wasn't quite interesting for the two either but the two just said one thing to one another

"This is electrifying" 

"Just because you have greater skills, you won't win all the time coach, wait until I get back at you" 

"I'll wait," he said and turned away from her and saw semi and minji standing there with a look no one could explain in any universe resembled, it was as if they saw a crow do wap 

"did you see a crow do wap?" he asked them

"wha- ew no jake," semi said and made a disgusted face

"then come on start your rounds"

the day just came to an end but they were greeted with terrible news during the first lecture of their classes

"bitch we fuking have tests from next week, and these extra smart teachers told this to us now, how tf will we study so much?!" semi panicked while they were going towards the cycle park for Jae to get her cycle 

"bruh go to the library and study its there for a reason, I'll go to my hidey-hole after a long time," Jae said and unlocked her cycle and they started walking towards the gate

"But, I can't digest any notes in the daylight, I am a bat, imma go sleep now until 10 pm and then study and the library isn't open then," semi said 

"me too, the day isn't really a good time for me but the only difference is that I am an owl, not a bat-like semi, touché" minji agreed with semi and they did a fist bump and Jae just scoffed


"Whatever I have to be awake in the day for it and go to my dear hidey-hole"

a place for hiding something or oneself in, especially as a retreat from other people.

sighing she just sat on the main table of the library since someone was already using the hidey-hole 

opening her books she just bought her pen and pencil out and tied her hair into a bun and started writing everything she had a problem in and started revising everything about it but among this, someone sat in front of her and started studying on their own

about one and a half-hour later she checked the time 

7:35 pm 

she sighed and looked ahead and again her breath stopped 

"coach"

she softly said and he looked up and just looked down again, out of the whole big table the only spot he got was in front of her

the library was how it has to be, silent just a few ppl sitting far away from them and them in between huge shelves of books with the mild yellow light of the library burning

she closed her books and set an alarm of half an hour on her phone and put her head on the table and tried getting a good sleep 

almost 1 hour later she woke up with a jerk and saw the time, and started repeated many profanities 

"fuck fuck fuck fuck why did I not increase the volume fuck" she cursed herself and saw him staring at her with his books closed 

"quit staring at me coach" 

"I'm not staring at you, I'm staring at a dumb girl who decides to take a nap here even after the library hours" 

"I had set an alarm"

"it didn't ring"

"so? why sleep in a library"

"ugh what's your problem"

"It's just that I can't leave my student here who is also the captain, it's not my wish. like I give a damn"

"pfft, student? I am just a player playing as a stu-. ugh whatever but as if I give a damn you waiting for me"

"get up and go home"

"whatever"

she shoved her books in her bag and took her phone and started walking with him behind

"Stop following me"

"There is only one exit"

as she exited she almost brisk walked towards her cycle and mentally said it to herself

"Does he always have to be the one"
