chapter twenty seven

Start from the beginning

Oh thanks Aubrey. I thought to myself.

My girlfriend sucked in a breath, ready to stand up to Aubrey, "I texted Beca."

Aubrey Posens entire body froze and she went rigid, slowly turning towards her best friend, "You did what??"

"She makes us better." Chloe shrugged.

"That's not an opinion for you to have, Chloe."

"Why? Because it's different from yours? You're not always right, you know." My girlfriend crossed her arms over her chest and I was proud she was standing up to Aubrey since everyone else seemed too afraid too.

"What is happening to us Chloe? I mean it sounds like you've been smoking three packs a day or you've been sucking too much dick, Stacie, you're behind on the choreography. And Jessica and Ashley, it's like you haven't even been around all year!"

"And what you're Ms pitch perfect?? It's always about everyone else and never Aubrey!" Chloe shook her head.

"Aubrey, give us a break. It's not the same when we're not all here." Fat Amy pointed out, the girls all agreeing that they needed my sister back in the group.

"Well maybe if Aubrey loosened up the reins." The ginger rolled her eyes.

"Shut it Chloe!" The blonde snapped.

Stacie let out a low whistle and for a brief moment Aubrey almost looked sorry she had snapped at her best friend. Of course that moment was ruined by her sarcastic comeback.

"I'm sorry. That was rude. Chloe, could you please get your head out of your ass? It's not a hat."

"We should have listened to Beca." Cynthia Rose sighed.

"Oh so it's all my fault?"

"Aubrey, that's not what we're saying-"

"Well that's what you're all thinking, right? I'm the jerk. The girl obsessed with winning." Aubrey spoke, gagging and retching like she was going to throw up.

"You're too controlling, Aubrey! It's ruining us!" Chloe raised her voice.

Aubrey balled up her fists and her cheeks became rosy, "Hey, I can lose control if I want to! I can let go! This time I'm not going to choke it down!"

"Wait-" I said, realizing what was about to happen as Aubrey started puking everywhere and I pulled my sweatshirt over my nose so I wouldn't have to smell it. The yelling continued on and before my girlfriend was about to lunge at Aubrey, I grabbed her and pulled her back.

I kept my arms around her from behind and her body melted into my touch instantly.

"Relax." I whispered in her ear, kissing her neck.

"What the hell's going on in here?" Beca spoke and the girls froze, turning and looking towards my sister with grins on their faces. All except Aubrey of course.

"Nothing." Aubrey huffed, "Guess we're just gonna let anyone in now."

"I'm gonna pretend you didn't say that." My sister sucked in a breath, "You look good."

"Thanks." Aubrey spoke, "You don't look too bad either I guess."

There was awkward silence for more than a few seconds, my sister looking at me for help and so I just gave her a small smile to ease her nerves and to continue on and say what she needed to say.

"Okay, here goes. I blew it. What I did was a dick move. I should never have changed up our set without asking the group, and I should never have walked out. I let you guys down, and I'm sorry. I let you down Aubrey. In more ways than one and if you'll have me, I want back in. I want to fix things."

All eyes were on a stone-faced Aubrey as we anxiously awaited her response. Beca turned to leave after a few moments of silence. As she walked, she grabbed a chair and it scraped across the floor. Right before she exits, the pitch pipe holder spoke up.

"Wait."

"Thank you. That would have been embarrassing." My sister breathed as Chloe played with my fingers.

"I know I've been hard on you, Beca. On everybody. But I'm my fathers daughter and he always said, "If at first you don't succeed, pack your bags."

Beca smiled softly at her, "I get it. Mine gets on my sister and I too."

"I got scared. There's so many of you and Chloe is... um..." the bella trailed off, scratching the back of her head.

"I don't know if you guys know this but I can be emotionally unstable!" Chloe grinned sheepishly. I couldn't help but laugh, burying my face in her neck.

"Would never have guessed." I mumbled, still laughing as Chloe smacked my leg.

"So sister, how are they gonna do this?" I asked with a smirk on my face.

My sister grinned, finally getting her moment.

"Alright ladies! Let's do this."
