Percy's pov
I just kissed Annabeth Chase.

And asked her out.

And she said yes.

There was no way I got this lucky. I could've been robbed and not cared. I could've been sent to the hospital and not cared. I could've given away all my blue cookies and not cared. Okay, maybe that one's a bit too much. But the point is I was ecstatic, I mean I even learned a new word.

"What's got you so happy?" Mom asked raising an eyebrow.

"Nothing," I said trying and failing to desperately hide my smile.

"You're a terrible liar." She laughed.

"I've lied to you before." I don't know why I said that.

"About what exactly? Care to tell me."

"I'm joking Mom I wouldn't lie to you, I mean what's there to lie about." Definitely not that time Jason, Leo and Nico snuck in through the fire escape at 2 am to have a sleepover. Nope, not that. Or that time Leo nearly commit arson in the kitchen and set off the smoke alarms either. Or that one time Nico made me go to McDonald's at midnight with him because he was hungry. Or when Jason took us all to a Taylor Swift concert in New Jersey.

Let's just say my friends aren't exactly normal. At all. To say the least one of them is a future arsonist who thinks he's 'funny', the other's a gay emo who loves McDonald's and the last, if not most dangerous one, a football captain with an unhealthy obsession for Taylor Swift music and romantic comedies.

But to be fair I'm just some guy who's been pining over the same girl for four years, a girl who happens to be way out of his league, and knows how to skateboard and swim.

"Okay..." Mom didn't look the slightest bit convinced. "If there's nothing to lie about tell me what's got to you so happy, Honey?"

I knew there was no getting out of this one. It was like that time Leo insisted on singing 'What makes you beautiful' for karaoke, thus ruining the song forever and ripping everyone's eardrums to shreds.

"Fine, I asked Annabeth out," I stated in a bored tone and hoped she didn't notice what I just said. My mother tended to go more than a little overboard with excitement. Maybe it was because I'd never had a girlfriend before and had a very high chance of dying alone.

She heard what I said.

"Oh, the pretty blonde you were talking to at the bake sale? The one who came over to return your skateboard? Percy that's great, I like her she's sweet." Mom stated happily, at least I didn't have to worry about my mother hating my, hopefully, future girlfriend.

"Yeah that's her, we're going out tomorrow." I scratched the back of my neck awkwardly.

"You have to bring her over for dinner sometime. And no it's not a choice." See what I mean by overexcited.

I opened my mouth to protest. "Mom! I haven't even gone out with her yet! And you want me to bring her over to meet the parents, you'll scare her away!"

"Don't be overdramatic, Perseus. You were always such a drama queen." Mom shook her head and tsked.

"I'm not being overdramatic! And I am not a drama queen!"
