Percy's pov
It was just a normal day at the skate park.

"Dude, you so like her," Leo shouted at me.

"Yeah, Why don't just scream it out to the world besides I thought you already knew that." I was annoyed. I'd been crushing on Annabeth since freshmen year and when she finally notices me, it's because I fell over.

Aren't you smooth, Jackson.

"Just ask her out for gods sake," Piper said. "She seems pretty nice."

Then Nico decided to give his two cents. Nico, yep the gay emo kid. "Percy doesn't have the guts for that, Pipes. He's been head-over-heels for the girl for nearly four years but won't ask her out, I feel sorry for her. Imagine if the guy that liked you was this pathetic." Everyone laughed at my expense on the so-called joke.

"Shut up, besides I'm not the only one who doesn't have the guts to ask someone out."

"He doesn't even like me back."

"Annabeth says otherwise and I'm pretty sure she would know who her best friend likes."

"Why don't you both just ask them out? It's not that hard." Thalia looked like she was about to strangle us both and if that was about to happen I was using Jason as a shield. She wouldn't kill her brother, right?

"Or I can ask them out for you." Leo laughed. He nearly told Annabeth everything at lunch. He thought it would be funny to embarrass me, they all thought it would be fucking hilarious.

"If you do that Valdez I will ask Calypso out for you and tell her the scrawny Latino wants to take her on a date." I threatened I wasn't afraid to do it.

"Honestly, you're all a bunch of wimps." Jason rolled his eyes at us.

"Right because you're so impressive, Grace. I bet Piper thinks so." I smirked. Jason and Piper had been dating for two years now, yes Jason was the only one of us who had a girlfriend or a boyfriend in Nico's case. It was unbelievable.

"Unless you want to embarrass yourself in front of Annabeth even more because let's be honest here she probably already thinks you're a little strange. I would shut it, Jackson. And that goes for you to Neeks." Thalia ended the conversation.

I tried to fix my hair but that didn't work, obviously. "How do I look?" I asked Jason.

"Ugly as always." He cackled like a weirdo. I can't believe this guy was my best friend.

"You're not helping."

"Bro, Just be yourself." He patted me on back in a motherly way. Yes, a motherly way.

"If I do that she won't like me at all, she already way out of my league." The chances that she would go out with me were more nonexistent than Leo's love life and I didn't think that was possible.

And then she arrived and my heart did an embarrassing flip-flop. I had liked her for so long and I still went redder than Paul's cool sweater that he always wore to school. "Hi." Oh, and Will was there too talking to Nico. At least that was working out.

Dam how does she always manage to look so stunning. There is no way that there's someone in this world that's more beautiful than her. Nope, no way.

"Jackson, snap out of it." Thalia hit me on the back of my head.

"Ow."

"I get it she's pretty but you look like a creep just staring at her, go talk to her." Thalia pushed me towards her.

Ok, act natural. It's just Annabeth. The girl of your dreams. The girl that you've liked for years. The girl that you don't stand a chanc-

"Percy hi, are you ok?" Annabeth said as she smiled one of her gorgeous smiles. I wanted to kiss her so badly, but I didn't do that. Obviously.

Stop staring at her lips and talk you idiot.

Right talking exists. "Um, uh- hi, how have you been?"

"I'm fine, are you ok though you look a little red in the face are you sure you don't have a fever." She seemed genuinely concerned and I was genuinely embarrassed.

Incredible. Splendid. Amazing. She thinks you have a fever. Honestly just die already. You're an embarrassment to society.

"No, I'm fine. I just have a medical condition."

Yes, keep going because that's so much better. Mom would be so proud.

"Uh, cool." Awkward. "Hey, Piper I brought my en pointe shoes." And she walked away. This was a great example of how this was not supposed to go.

I sat down and died there. "Hey, it's ok not everyone is great at flirting like me."

"Thanks for the reassurance, Leo. You know it helps. So much." I muttered.

"Jeez, no need to be so salty it's not my fault you told her you have a medical condition. What's the condition called? Blushofrenia." He laughed at his own joke. Classic Leo.

"Leo give him a break." Jason put his arm around my shoulder. "Look Perce if she can't see how great you are then she doesn't deserve you, there are plenty of other girls out there. Now stop sulking and maybe you might stand a chance."

I could always count on Jason. Jason was the mom friend of the group, he always had the best advice. I swear he had a secret superpower or some shit. Plus he kept us all from dying constantly. "Thanks, Jase maybe you're right." Today was the day I impressed Annabeth Chase with my skateboarding skills and didn't fall over.

"Hey, Annabeth can I show you something?" I hoped this would work.

She turned around. "Sure what did you want to show me." Piper nodded at me and mouthed "show her a trick."

"I want to show you a trick, Wise Girl."

"Sure, I'd love to see you not mess up this time." She laughed cutely.

Ok, Jackson don't mess up. Just do a Laser Flip.

I so didn't want to mess up. I stood on the edge of the rink and took a deep breath. And I took off. It wasn't too hard a trick, it was one that I had practised. I just hoped this might make her think I'm a cooler and not a complete freak.

I did it. "So what did you think?" I grinned at her.

"I'm surprised you didn't mess up, I thought I was going to need to bring out my first aid again, Seaweed Brain." Everyone laughed at that.

"Haha, I'm not usually that clumsy."

"Stop lying to her!" Someone, probably Leo yelled.

"Ok, fine but we're you impressed?"

"Fine, It was sort of impressive." She rolled her eyes. I'd take sort of impressive, good enough for me. Annabeth was impressed, maybe I did stand a chance. Maybe.
