Part 12: Cheerleader and Volleyball

Ava's POV:

It's Thursday, it's been two weeks since the party at Liam's. I could see that students are taking there time to adjust around Sean and Josh. Most of them have accepted them as they are, being all friendly, some being neutral while few of them not very accepting, like Trevon and his group. Though no one has dared to tease or make joke of both, all thanks to Josh.

We are currently seated in canteen.

"Have you guys heard about an open position for a cheerleader in the team" Reva said.

"Yeah there is a buzz going on among the students about the same" Josh said.

"The cheerleader from first year - Ashley has injured her leg last week in an accident and what I have heard, doctor told her to not put any strain on her ankles for another two to three months, someone is needed to fill her place" Liam said.

"Okay so someone is needed from first year" Sean asked in general.

"Yup" Luke confirmed.

Our college cheerleading team has total 12 girls, 3 from each year. From first year there are, Ashley, Hanna and Meghan and from second year it's Julia and her two minions - Angie and Tina, and the list further goes on for third and final year. Every year Final year girl is the head cheerleader, for this year it's Kira.

"Lily you should audition for this position, I know you will do great" I said looking at Lily.

She was surprised, hearing this.

"What no, I mean I would love to, but I guess I am not ready for this right now" Lily said looking at me.

"Oh come on, we all know you are an trained belle dancer, you would do great, just be confident and you will have it" Reva said cheering Lily.

"Yeah you should definitely go for an audition" Luke said looking at Lily. There was an intense state between both, after few seconds Lily diverted her gaze towards the salad she's eating.

"Okay" is all she said, I could even see a small blush on her cheeks.

We done with our lunch and headed towards the auditorium where auditions were going on. The audition judge was Kira, her other two classmates and our cheerleading teacher. I could see other cheerleaders too, including Julia and her minions. I entered Lily's name in the final audition list, which was with Kira right now.

We all started sitting on the seats while auditees were called on the back stage. In front row sat our judges. Kira started calling out girls name one by one. There were five girls in total. First and Third girl did good, while second and fourth girl were average. Now came the final girl - Lily. Even though it's not me who's being auditioned, I was nervous. When Lily came on stage we all started cheering for her, trying to encourage her. She was looking nervous, she closed her eyes for few seconds, took deep breathe and opened them with determination clearly seen in her eyes. Teacher gestured to put on the music and Lily started dancing, going slow at first as per the beats and gradually doing tumbling, jumping and stunting. She was doing it effortlessly and definitely much better than other four girls. Finally the music was off and everyone started clapping for her.

Later Teacher called all five girls on stage to announce the winner.

"Everyone did great, so please do not get dishearten if you are not being selected, it is just that one of the girl was better than others and she is.....Lily Jacobs, Congratulations" Teacher announced.

Lily was shocked on hearing her name and we all cheered for her loud enough to bring her out of her shock state. I knew she would do it.

Lily thanked teacher and got down from the stage running towards us. She came smiling and hugged me in excitement. We all congratulated her.

"Hey Congratulations, you really did great, looking forward to see you in practice tomorrow" Kira said looking at Lily. Lily nodded with smile on her face.

It's been an week since Lily got selected and she is been busy with her practice on Thursdays and Fridays after lunch for two hours, 1pm to 3pm.

We were heading towards our practical labs when my eye caught an pamphlet stuck on the notice board. I went to it and read, it was an open position for volleyball game. Apparently volleyball team was short of one person. Lily and Reva came towards me and started reading the notice. Lily read the notice and looking at me said,

"You should go for it, we all know how good you are in volleyball"

"Yeah you should definitely go for it" Reva joined in.

I do love playing volleyball, I have been playing this game since kid with my parents, cousins and friends back in my hometown. I thought for a while and decided to go for it.  The audition was on Thursday after lunch, that's tomorrow.

It's Thursday, we all are at canteen discussing on the volleyball audition.

"Thats a good idea, seeing how good you are in this game" Ace said looking at me. Hearing him complementing me, gave me an instant motivation. I blushed a little.

Everyone encouraged me to go for it. So here I am at the college ground. There were three girls for audition and only one empty spot in the team. I was nervous but knew I'll do good as I have played this game since long time.

Coach came and asked all three of us to play the game with the team, so he could see who's good with the game. He formed the two teams, the other two girls were in opposite team. The game started.

Ace's POV:

Currently I am laying on my bed. Thinking about today is volleyball game. It was an exciting game. Team A which included Ava and Team B, played really well. But Team A won the game by 2-0. Ava played really great, both points were scored by her. I knew she is a good volleyball player, but today in the game she showed how excellent she is. Well no need to guess Ava got selected among the three girls. I am so proud of her. She is good in sports and studies, except chemistry but she's reaching there.

While she was playing I could see she was so focused and passionate to win. Every time I think that I started knowing her well, she surprises me with new things. It is hard not to fall for her.
