Usually he's having a bad day because he's struggling with a case. He can be snappy and sassy, even more so than usual - especially to Mycroft and Greg. Whereas it would usually be quite neat with tight curls, his hair on a bad day looks tousled and sticks out at odd ends.

He'll be very quiet but then burst when he feels particularly down or angry. This burst may be an explosion of anger in the form of shouts, or a solid hour just spent crying and talking about his feelings.

On a bad day, he'll leave and start some trouble somewhere, then come home and watch the chaos unfold. For some reason, he enjoys watching the mayhem he has caused, and usually it makes him feel better.

Greg gets really bad headaches and migraines on bad days, and usually it takes all day for him to recover from it. He may bite his nails or appear stressed all day, needing more comfort and quiet time to reflect on recent events and recover.

Mycroft has bad days after seeing his brother in a dark place. May that be bored out of his mind, taking drugs or simply acting more dramatic than usual. Mycroft cares deeply for Sherlock, and so seeing him struggle without allowing anyone to help is hard to witness.
