Entering a carriage while ignoring the gruesome scene was harder than she thought. The pile of bodies that were left partially eaten made her uncomfortable as she forced herself not to think about them.

Clean air that she usually enjoys while strolling around the city was gone. The awful smell of death was intolerable as she ties a cloth to cover her nose.

Creatures who heard the sound of carriage and pursued it were quickly killed using their magic. Nash was driving the carriage while the other stayed inside as she scans the surrounding through the windows.

Soon, the clock tower wasn't seen and the city couldn't be viewed anymore. In front of them was now, the abandoned castle of Hyll. Crimson blooming flowers grew everywhere, surrounding the castle and giving it a lovely and welcoming look.

The surrounding remained undisturbed and the air became pleasant. No one seems to enter the place and it brought comfort.

As the carriage and horses came to a sudden halt, Nash and Astaria left the carriage and stood in front of the oak door. The door creak and light behind them illuminated the dark insides which should've been left unopened.

Their eyes meet and both quickly ran away from the entrance.

They were wrong, this place wasn't safe either. Nash gritted his teeth as he pulled his sword. He was sure no one haven't entered this place but after seeing the creatures eating something— he cursed at his self.

Footsteps and groans, hearing it weakened her resolve to live but she continues to ran.

"Astaria, if you have enough mana left, go heal Astley. I'll handle this!" His loud command gave her a push of confidence.

His blade dances with the dead in a forceful manner and his eyes blazed. He pulled his sword and blood-splattered, painting the snow.

Astaria hurriedly left as she glances at her surrounding.
Her trembling hands forcefully opened the door and there he was, trembling and turning his head to the side occasionally. His blood spilled on the leather seat as his breath quickens. Sweat covered his dull skin and the wound turned black.

She chewed her lower lip and anxiously stared at him.
'What if I make it worst?'

"What do I do..."

'If I heal him I'll lose my mana for a week. I barely have anything left... I won't be able to fight and save myself but if I heal Astley, our chance of survival will rise...'

Astaria brought her hand towards her cheeks, giving it a hard slap.

'Ah! What am I thinking?! If I don't heal him right away, both of us will die! He is my friend and I can't let him die!!'

Her eyes trembled and shifted to her left as an idea struck her. Before she could do it, she felt someone's stronghold on her leather boots.

Her trembling eyes stopped as she muttered a word that killed the hideous creature. The hand that grabbed her, flew high in the air as she looks back at Astley.

Breathing deeply, she forced herself to use every mana left. The reaction created sparks to appear and she directed the flow of holy power towards the struggling Astley.

Lights unexpectedly emerged and her arm covered her eyes. After a while, she glances at Astley and saw the wounds gone.

Astaria looks at Nash and subconsciously stared behind him which causes her to shudder. Some were cut in the neck, losing their head. Others were stabbed in the heart and the scenery made her think, how did they turn into that?
