"Scar"

I sighed as I took in the view from my balcony. The dark skies were clear and the stars were beautiful tonight. I made sure to thank Colton before I left the party.

"Happy birthday to me," I whispered to myself, wrapping my arms around my body. The wind was blowing calmly.

The world was at peace.

I closed my eyes, wondering what he could be doing right now. Where he could be.

I could hear the party downstairs, but right now, the Earth was still and silent.

"Scar."

I opened my eyes, feeling my body tense.

It's impossible.

This isn't real.

I turned around to see Rowan standing at the doorway of my bedroom looking devilishly handsome. He wore a crimson red dress shirt with black slacks. As usual, the random lock of hair fell in his eye.

He held a small, velvet box in his hands.

"You look beautiful," he said. He closed the door and walked towards me, stopping when he reached the center of the huge room. He never broke eye contact.

I felt tears form in my eyes. I hadn't seen him in a month, and here he was.

I was still frozen still on the balcony, the wind blowing through the stray wisps of my hair that had fallen from the bun.

Rowan held his arms out, and I held back a sob as I ran into his arms.

He chuckled, wrapping his arms around my waist. I wrapped my arms around his neck, holding on for dear life.

"I've missed you," I whispered.

I missed his smell, his touch, his dimple, his eyes.

He pulled away and placed the small box on the end of the bed before looking at me again. "I tried to stay away," he spoke.

"I'm glad you're here," I said as I grabbed his hands in mine.

Rowan brought my hands to his lips and kissed them both.

"I brought you a present," he said, looking me in the eye.

I smiled. "You didn't have to," I said. My cheeks are betraying me. I knew they were turning red.

Rowan's stare was intense. I noticed the way his eyes kept flickering between me and my lips. I was doing the same to him.

"Turn around."

I obliged.

I heard him move behind me, and seconds later, I felt my bun fall and him moving my hair to the other side of my neck.

I looked down at my chest to see a small diamond fall in my cleavage. I gasped when I heard the clasp lock.

"It's beautiful, Rowan, you shouldn't have," I whispered. The diamond was cool against my skin, and it glistened under the moonlight.

I felt Rowan's fingertips run down my arms and I shivered at his touch.

"You look beautiful tonight," he murmured, pressing his lips against my neck. His hand slid down to my waist.

I released a breath.

"Thank you," I replied, leaning against his body as he trailed kisses down my back.

I felt his hand slide in between my legs before he quickly turned me around to face him, wrapping his other hand around my neck.

I released a moan.
