"Belief"
They said the world would change
and somehow I believed them.
The said that someday justice would come
and touch the poor.
They said that a time would come
when children would not starve.
The said that war would end
and love would conquer
and the broken and impoverished
would find mercy and joy
and pain would cease forever.
They said the world would change
and I suppose it has:
I don't believe them anymore.
