"Sight Reading"
It's been so strange and wonderful
to love you for a year,
and stranger yet to realize
that this year is but a single measure
of the song we have in store.
Where will it lead
and how well will we sing it?
What shall be its strongest note
and where shall fall its softest?
Will we dance to its rhythms
and lend meaning to its text?
I don't know the answers, love.
All I know is that
it's a beautiful duet that we are singing
and the first measure has me hooked.
