"Mum, calm down," Chaeyoung pleaded, clasping her mothers shoulders to steer her away from where she was obsessively watching over the roast in the oven. There was a thin sheen of sweat on her brow, the heat radiating from the appliance casting an orange glow across her face.

"Chaeng, you were the one who told me that your girlfriend was a good cook," Claire huffed, blowing a stray strand of hair from her face, stepping around Chaeyoung to begin obsessing over the salad she was preparing.

"Mum, it's fine, she's not picky with food," she groaned, wincing a little as her mother frantically chopped a cucumber into small pieces that were maybe a little too small. Claire whirled around at that, raising a brow, knife stopping mid air.

"You said that you had never tasted pasta better than Lisa's," Claire said, the corner of her mouth twitching as she saw her daughters face redden. Shaking her head and turning back to the slaughtered cucumber, Claire continued. "We can't have her thinking that her girlfriend's family has no palate."

"Ooookay," Chaeyoung drawled, plucking a piece of cucumber from the chopping board and popping it into her mouth, Claire giving her a sideways glance. She was about to try and steal another cucumber slice, but was pushed away from the food by Jisoo, who was carrying a large bowl over her head.

"Move, move, move!" Jisoo called out, almost knocking Chaeyoung's forehead with the bowl.

"Jisoo, what the hell," Chaeyoung grumbled, her sister snickering as she placed the large bowl onto the counter.

"You were in the way," Jisoo grinned, kicking Chaeyoung with her foot. "Anyway, the kitchen is way too cramped for the three of us, so go and set the table or something." Chaeyoung flipped her sister a discreet bird behind their mother's back, which was returned by a much less discreet one from Jisoo (the back of her head getting smacked by Claire). Chaeyoung went to set the table.

Setting up three places like normal, Chaeyoung couldn't help but smile to herself as she clutched onto the fourth plate, stroking its rim as she carefully placed it beside her own.

Lisa's place.

It has been a few days since the whole coming out debacle, and things had somewhat settled down. It had taken a good moment for Claire to begin to say the word 'girlfriend' without sounding forced, but it hadn't taken her long to get over her initial apprehension to invite Lisa to dinner to meet her officially. Butterflies flitted around in Chaeyoung's stomach as she quickly set up the cutlery and napkins, my phone buzzing in her pocket as she lay down Lisa's share.

Checking her phone, her heart flipped when Lisa's face shone on the screen, a request for a video call blinking up at her. Smoothing her wayward hair down quickly before answering, her smile widened immediately when she saw Lisa blinking back at her, a matching grin on her face.

"Baby," Lisa said, switching the camera away from her face to show her full form in a floor-length mirror. "Is this okay?"

"What?" Chaeyoung asked, blinking a few times as Lisa rolled her eyes, stepping closer to the mirror.

"My clothes," Lisa said, as if she were stating the obvious. "Are they okay?" Looking away from her face and at her clothes, Chaeyoung noticed Lisa wearing a plain white and freshly ironed t-shirt, slightly hidden by a leather jacket and tucked into a miniskirt, a little bag slung over her left shoulder as she showed off her outfit. Lisa's hair was a little damp and freshly washed. Although she was always extremely beautiful, she had never dressed as neatly as she did now, and it was as if Chaeyoung was seeing a whole new Lisa. Lisa tilted her head to the side and cleared her throat, a small smirk playing at her lips in the reflection. "Like what you see, Chaeng? You're staring."
