The fan above Chaeyoung's head whirred lazily, casting lines of moonlight against the ceiling. Lisa's house was quiet, with only the sound of Lisa's breaths audible to Chaeyoung's ears. While everything contained within the four walls of the room was calm, she alone was a storm of emotions, her mind unable to push what happened earlier from it.

Shaking her head, as if physically rattling it will make the memories dribble from her ears, she turned to Lisa. Her fingers twitched as she ached to grab onto Lisa's body, to press herself against the broad expanse of her girlfriend's back and breathe in the scent of her. However, Lisa was fast asleep, and Chaeyoung knew that suddenly having a fully grown girl suddenly squeezing around her would definitely rouse the girl from her slumber. Instead of imitating a boa constrictor on his prone form, Chaeyoung carefully reached out and gingerly held onto the hem of Lisa's shirt with her thumb and forefinger. Although Lisa rarely wore shirts to bed, Chaeyoung had scolded her earlier about how the nights were still cold and she would catch a virus, the Thai girl begrudgingly throwing on a shirt she found under a pile of clothes on her armchair.

For what seemed like an hour and change, Chaeyoung  just stayed in this position, wanting to feel more of Lisa's skin on her own, but not wanting to wake her up either. It wasn't until Lisa let out a grumble, throat raw, body rolling over to face her girlfriend.

Chaeyoung's noise of surprise was smothered by Lisa's clothed chest, long arms wrapping around her simultaneously to pull her closer. Lips resting on Chaeyoung's head, Lisa let out a sleep-hazed sigh

"How long have you been awake for?" Lisa asked, words a little hard to decipher through her sleep-riddled grumble. Chaeyoung let out a whisper of a laugh, embarrassed, wrapping her arms around Lisa's middle. Face hidden in the embrace, she shook her head.

"Not that long," she said, Lisa snorting with disbelief. Ignoring the lie, Lisa spoke against the crown of Chaeyoung's head again, left hand running up and down her back idly.

"Thinking about it again?"

"Hard not to," Chaeyoung said, clearing her throat as her words cracked noticeably.

"Chaeyoung isn't like dad," Jisoo said.

Jisoo's words slammed against the walls of Chaeyoung's skull, her brain turning into mush as it tried to comprehend what it just heard. Not like dad? Like dad? Different? Jisoo didn't outright say it, but it was clear what she was insinuating. Her father not only cheated on her mother with someone. He cheated on her with a man. Chaeyoung's mind reeled at the thought, brain in complete anarchy.

If dad left mum for a man, does that mean he was always attracted to men? Was he ever attracted to mum? Was he gay, or bi, or something else entirely?

Was he like me? Or was I like him?

I am in love with a girl. Is it the same?

Claire's face turned ashen, her whole body shaking as she took a step back, and then another and another. Her eyes never left Chaeyoung, the expression held inside them striking the girl to the core.

Abhorrence. Fear. Betrayal.

It's like she's looking at dad.

"M-Mum," Chaeyoung choked out, stretching out a hand. The woman just shook her head at the words, eyes red as tears began to slip from them, down her gaunt cheeks and over the fingers pressed against her mouth. She didn't make a sound as she quickly turned, forgetting the groceries scattered on the floor, forgetting to even take off her soiled shoes. Tracking black dirt up the stairs, she disappeared, the heavy slam of a door making Chaeyoung flinch.
