»Where's Unus?«
»Good morning to you too.« Dark responded, examining his finger nails with disinterest. »He's in the training room, where he always is. Pretty sure he still wants to fight me.«
»Can't blame him.« Annus walked over to the counter, grabbing a few eggs from the fridge. He paused, before turning around to Dark. »Do you eat?«
»Only the souls of innocent children.«
Annus rolled his eyes. »Real funny. More eggs for me then.«

Both of them looked up from the table when they heard an explosion coming from the training room. It was strong enough to shake the ground beneath  their feet.
»And here I sit, thinking I was the one with anger issues.«
»I better go check on him.« Annus got up, hurrying downstairs. The glowing portal to the training room was humming softly right next to the door that led to the basement. The room behind it was fogged, dark grey clouds of smoke blocking the view.
He stepped through, covering up his mouth and nose. Still, he had to cough as soon as he entered. The dust and dirt scratched the inside of his nose and airways.
   »Unus?« he yelled.
»I'm here.« His buddy was sitting on the floor a few feet away, his black suit ripped open and covered in dust and burn holes.
   »I think I overdid it,« he coughed.
»Ya' think?« Annus grabbed him underneath the shoulders, lifting him back on his feet?
   »Can you walk?«
»What?« Unus tried to hear his buddies voice through the high pitched ringing in his ears.
»I said, can you walk?« Annus repeated louder.
Unus nodded, coughed and wiped some blood off his brow.

By now, Dark had come downstairs as well, looking at the pair with minor curiosity.
»You know, I really thought I'd be to one to blow you up one day.«
Unus shot him an angry glance. His bloodshot eyes, red from the dust, and the fact that it probably was, made it look downright hateful.
Annus helped his buddy sit down, kneeling besides him. »What happened.«
»I attacked a yeager,« Unus responded, with a coarse voice. »But it lunged at me in the last moment, and I panicked.«
»A full force attack at point blank range? That poor yeager.«
»Don't you have other stuff to do? Go around and turn crosses upside down or something?«
Dark crossed his arms, leaning against the wall. »I do, but this is way more fun.«

Unus wiped his eyes with his palms. »If only Marvin was here.«
Now that he mentioned it, Annus hadn't seen Marvin in quite some time. Sure, it wasn't uncommon that he would vanish in the depths of his lab for one or two days, but he had been away for quite some time now.
»Maybe we should check on him.« Unus suggested.
»But how? We can't just aimlessly walk through the Machine, hoping to stumble across his lab like we did.«
   »What about the scarab?«
»Dead like a phone without signal.«

»You could just use his bug watch he left in the living room,« Dark proposed nonchalantly.
    »You couldn't have told us earlier?«
He shrugged. »Wanted to see how long it'd take for you to figure it out.«

Surely enough, the golden watch layed on the table in the living room, halfway covered by some paper.
Annus unfolded it, reading the message out loud.
»Unus, Annus. Don't worry if I'm gone for longer than usual. There is no need to be concerned, and definitely no need to search for me.«
   »Yup. He's dead.«
»Could you please shut up for once,« Unus snapped, earning him one of Dark's sarcastic smirks.

Unus took the bug watch from Annus, examining it more closely. After a few seconds of silence, Dark let out a dramatic sigh and rolled his eyes.
»It's the button on the top, and you need a mirror. It's isn't rocket science, guys.«

»There's a mirror in the bathroom upstairs.«
Dark shook his head. »I'm afraid it's gotta be one that's a bit bigger.«
They excanged worried glances. Unus and Annus knew that the other thought of the exact same thing as them, and neither of them liked it.
