Chapter 23- Toilet Paper and Texting

The next morning when I woke, the sun was pelting my face in ribbons and I groaned at the warmth that was striking my face.

"Good morning sunshine, the earth says hello," I moaned in a monotone voice.

"Who left the blinds open?" said Naomi.

     "Good question."

I sighed and rolled out of the bed. I quickly got dressed and put my hair into a ponytail, and Naomi did the same, only leaving her light brown hair down.

At breakfast, I gobbled down two pancakes and orange juice, all while I sat next to Liam. All breakfast long, he held my hand underneath the table, which I couldn't help but think was incredibly sweet. There was truly no better boy to have in the world.

Just as my classes at the end of the day were signaled to be over, I got a text from none other than Gideon. He had also attached a picture with it.

"Hey, Val," I couldn't help but whisper as I read the text aloud to myself. Luckily, there was no one around to hear me talking to myself like this. "I thought I'd tell you before you heard everywhere, but I finally asked Lisa, the clarinet player in our grade that I've had a crush on since forever out. She said yes! I've already gone on a few dates with her too. The picture I sent you is of us."

I internalized an aww at his accomplishments. Ever since he'd laid eyes on Lisa's chocolate brown hair and blue eyes, he'd been smitten. I was glad that he'd finally plucked up the courage to talk to her because every time we would see her, he'd be like a deer in the headlights.

Another text had been sent with that one too. "I also heard about you and Liam. I approve!"

A smile split across my face as I read it. He was such a sweet boy, and it killed me that I hadn't seen him in what felt like forever.

I made my way back to my room and found Naomi practically squealing inside. She was smiling like the sun had been put inside of her mouth.

     "What happened?" I asked.

"I asked Niall, Val! I asked Niall!"

     "What? What? Slow down."

"Well, I know how you already got with Liam, and that made me feel like my time was draining quickly so I asked Niall if he would go on a date with me as a couple and he said yes!"

     "That's great!" I told her.

Her eyes suddenly became wide. "I know."

I suddenly noticed that she was carrying a small, stuffed bag in her hand, and I couldn't help but be curious as to know what was inside.

     "What's that?" I asked innocently.

"You didn't hear? We're teepeeing the boys' rooms tonight."

"Seriously? Won't we get in trouble for that?"

"So what? It will be so much fun. It's worth it, trust me."

"What time are we doing it?"

"One A.M. We have to be sure that every single boy is asleep. And the counselors too."

"Sounds like a plan," I said mischievously.

"What should we do for the next couple of hours?" I asked.

She pulled out a myriad One Direction posters. "We're going to hang these up."

"Isn't that a little creepy now that we know them?"

     "No," she replied defensively.

"Ok, fine," I told her, and it actually took quite a long time to hang every single poster up.

Above her bed, as a joke, I put a large poster of Niall. When she saw it, she laughed at me but did the same for my bed, only with Liam.

"There. Now he'll never leave your side."

:     "Where did you find all of these posters in the first place?"

     "I have my ways."

     "Well alright then."

"Ok, what now?" I asked once our room was completely covered in the most creepy One Direction posters.

"It's almost one, so I say we go meet up with the other girls."

"Seriously? Wow, that took longer than I had imagined."

"I know right? Come on, let's go prank the boys."

We walked quietly out of our room, and found that many other girls were already waiting.

"Is this everyone? Do we want to get started now?"

The girls nodded in excitement, and we split up to cover the most distance. Naomi and I started quickly unrolling the toilet paper all of the floor, the windows, everything that it had to offer. We slowly tried Liam and Niall's room, and found the door to be unlocked. We crept in, and had to hold back our giggles as we coated the room in white. The boys simply snored soundly, and we couldn't help but feel achieved as we left their room.

"We're walking in a winter wonderland," I sang as we walked through the mass of white toilet paper.

Naomi began to sing along with me, but our fun was soon cut short. "Abort, abort!" we heard a girl hiss.

We ran awkwardly, trying to be as silent as possible, back to our rooms. Soon, every girl was inside of their rooms, like nothing had happened.

     "What happened?" I asked Naomi.

"I think one of the counselors woke up," she said, still giggling.

"We're in so much trouble," I told her and she nodded in agreement.

We both slipped in between the covers just as a scream rang out in the air. Naomi and I both unsuccessfully smothered our snickers.

"Looks like they found our early Christmas present," Naomi said.

"Open up!" said a girly voice outside of our room. We opened it to see a counselor standing before us with an angry look on her face.

"Get cleaning. No buts," she said

We both sighed but didn't put up a fight. Outside of our room, we found girls all over picking up the paper while the boys smirked as they watched. I picked up a wad with resignation clear on my face.

"That was terrible," Liam said, coming up from behind me.

"We did your room," Naomi said.

"Oh really, now?" he said, cocking an eyebrow at me.

"This should be filed as cruelty," I said, leaning over to pick up trash while boys stared at me do the labor.

"I disagree," Liam said with a smirk.

I rolled my eyes but kept on picking the paper up. Luckily, with the amount of girls we had, it wasn't hard to get everything picked up quickly.

"I'm going to sleep forever," Naomi said with a yawn.

"I second that," I said.

I quickly told Liam goodnight and followed Naomi back to our dorm. Once inside, I collapsed on the bed and sleep came to me easily, and suddenly, I was taken deep down into a world where no perils could lay a hand on me.
