|Chapter 5: Close Eye|

Today you walked to school by yourself after that weird incident with Maruki asking about you yesterday. You couldn't help but suddenly close in on things again. It wasn't until you noticed Maruki walking around, he seemed like he was looking for someone.

You tried to spy on him to see who he was looking for.

"I'm looking for a student named Y/N L/N, have you seen her?" Maruki asked another student.

The student mentioned that you go to the same class as them and that you were probably in class.

You took the chance to hide inside the locker in the class. Maruki entered the classroom and searched around.

"Are we playing a game of hide and seek?" Maruki asked.

"If I find you, you'll have to come with me." Maruki smiled.

You shook a little feeling the sensation that Maruki would find you. Why were you exactly hiding from him? You shouldn't really be doing this...

Maruki peeked into the locker you were hiding in.

"I wonder who can be in here." He said, feeling confident in himself.

He placed his hands on the locker and said

"Y/N, are you in there? If you are looks like the game of hide and seek is over." Maruki asked.

You felt your face heat up and opened the locker room.

Maruki was kind enough to give you some space.

"Why are you hiding from me now? Did I do something wrong? If so I'm sorry and I'll reflect on my actions." Maruki looked upset.

"No, it's not you... I apologize for being this way... I don't know why I'm being different today." You looked at Maruki's face.

Such a face he's making... It's almost as if he wants to cry in front of me... Does Maruki even cry...? I wonder... it's okay to cry sometimes right?

"Oh okay good! I was starting to feel like I did something wrong. I'm really glad to hear you say that. You don't know how much that means to me." Maruki smiled.

You felt your face turn pink again.

There it is, that feeling again... Why is my face turning pink...

"Anyways I'll be teaching your class today so watch me! I'll bring the fun out of this lesson!" Maruki nodded.

You couldn't help but laugh a little at him saying that.

"That's the first time I've ever seen you laugh! Was it something I said? Shall I say something else to make you laugh again?" Maruki seemed happy to see you laugh.

"No, it's all good. Thanks." You nodded.

After that whole thing class started and Maruki began to teach the class. You began to take notes on what he was saying about health.

"That reminds me, I have a question. L/N-Chan, do think it's possible for someone to change after therapy?" Maruki asked you.

"Well.... In my opinion I believe that maybe there is a chance. While therapy may possibly change someone there's a chance it won't. It all depends on who the person is exactly and how they are." You answered.

Everyone looked at you and seemed to question your answer.

"I like your answer Y/N!" Maruki clapped.

Everyone was now praising you as Doctor Maruki seemed to have liked the way you answered. It seemed you were now getting attention in which you didn't really like.

After class ended everyone else left, you waited for Akira to come back from the bathroom since he had to go.

"Great job in class today." You heard a familiar voice.

It was none other than Doctor Maruki himself.

"It was nothing really." You said.

"Hey Y/N, you know how you answered my question earlier? I have another question for you again if you'd answer it." Maruki looked at you.

"Yes? What is it?" You asked.

"If it were possible to one day alter someone else's memory and make their desire come true do you think it's possible? Think of it, a desire in which the person wishes for coming true. They end up the happy one." Maruki awaited your answer.

You looked down and said

"Sometimes our desires get to us, whether we want to be rich, a celebrity, loved, or even popular sometimes it's best that we kept our desires to ourselves and actually go for something you want to do instead of your desire. Your desire could take over and corrupt you with so much power..." You said.

You looked up at Maruki and noticed a different expression on his face. He looked shocked to what you were saying.

"Is something wrong..?" You asked, meeting his gaze.

"N-No... Not at all. I appreciate your answer Y/N." Maruki gave you a slight smile.

You wanted to talk to him some more but, he's a school psychologist. He needs his time.

"Oh Y/N, I wish to ask... May I have your contact? I know it's weird for me to suddenly ask like this well that's because I want to check in with you. You know." Maruki nodded.

"I get it, I know what you're trying to do." You agreed and let him have your number.

"Let's walk out together, okay?" Maruki insisted.

You walked out with Maruki to the outside of the gate.

"I'll be seeing you." Maruki waved goodbye.

As friendly as Maruki seems he's clearly up to something. Very suspicious.

I want to keep a close on eye on him, maybe I'll get something out of him. He may be hiding something dark but... Why?

Once Y/N left, I felt the smile in my face disappear as if something were wrong.

I want to keep a close eye on her, maybe I'll get something out of her. She may be hiding something dark... but why?

I thought to myself putting my fingers on my chin.

I wonder if there is a way to possibly see what her own desire would be like. What would she want in life... What would she do if her life had changed so suddenly from a bad one to a good one? This isn't something I should be thinking about.

I walked away and into my office I went. It's decided that I'll start to keep a close eye on Y/N from now on.
