I lean back from Hunter's chest with wide eyes. Where did that sound come from? I glance around fearfully, my breath uneven.

"Mine. All mine." I gasp when the deep raspy voice comes from Hunter. I frown in confusion, why is he speaking like this?

Before I can even utter a word, he crushes me to his chest, burying his face in the crook of my neck and releasing that purring sound again.

"So beautiful, – he trails his nose up the column of my neck until he reaches my ear, which he licks, earning a startled gasp from me – sensitive – he runs his tongue over the curve of my jaw then down my neck before nipping at the delicate skin, eliciting a breathy moan from me. I feel my cheeks burn in embarrassment, but he only growls huskily – and responsive. My little mate." He cups my chin and tilts my head so I have to look into his eyes, both of which are red.

"W-who are you?" I whimper, trying to pull away, but he keeps me in place with his arm around my waist.

"Red. – I scrunch my brows in confusion – My cute little mate. – he tugs me closer to him – I'm Hunter's wolf." He says, but I'm even more confused.

"You're Hunter?"

"No, little mate, I'm his wolf."

"I don't understand." I sigh. "So... you're him, but... you're not him?"

"Mhmm... - he moves his hand to my face, running his knuckles over my cheek - A werewolf is half-human, half-wolf. But they are not one. Hunter is Hunter and I'm me. I have my own soul, my own emotions, my own feelings. The only things Hunter and I share are our body and our mate. And that's you, little wolf."

"Oh... So you're, like, two people in one body?" He chuckles at my question. His rich deep voice does something to me and I feel warmth spread through my body, concentrating in the nether regions.

"Don't tempt me, little mate. I know what you went through and I don't want to hurt you." His nostrils flare as he smells the air before growling huskily, sounding like he's holding back.

"Wait, you said you can smell my wolf, right? But if it's still there, then how come I haven't shifted? I was sure that my father got rid of it when he injected me with silver and wolfsbane." Red growls angrily hearing this and crushes me to his chest, burying his face in my hair as he tries to calm down.

"Your wolf is either not strong enough to handle the shift or she's just hiding." I cut him off before he can continue.

"How do I make her stronger?" I ask, not even hiding the desperation from my voice. My wolf is there! I have a wolf! My father didn't kill her!!!

"Shh, little mate. We'll figure it out. I'm sure Hunter will find a way to bring her back. He's the smarter one of the two of us. – he leans down and our noses almost touch – I am a wolf, an animal, driven by primal instincts. And right now, those instincts are pushing me to mark you and make you mine." His look turns heavy and he doesn't even try to hide his lust from me, making me feel hot all over. I know this look, I've seen it on men when I was still at the mine.

"Hunter?! Oh, sorry. Red, mom is asking for you two." I turn to see one of Hunter's brothers few meters away. I think it's Theo, but I can't be sure, they all look the same. I try to get off Red's lap, but he just shakes his head sternly and picks me up, as if I weigh nothing.
