Reversing Roles

I've done a lot with these roles of Draco helplessly in love with Hermione, so I'm doing to reverse them.

.

She inhaled sharply while he descended the stairs. He'd shed his robes upstairs, leaving him in black slacks and his white button down shirt, rolled up to his elbows. His Slytherin tie, striped green and silver, hung loosely and undone around his neck. The messy blond hair that hadn't been cut in months fell into his gray blue eyes. His shoes made a light tap against the floor.

She tried to focus on her homework, but the world made no sense when he was around. It shouldn't have been possible for someone to look that good. Yet here he was, all six feet of him. All six feet of Draco Malfoy looking better than ever.

Hermione did her best to ignore him. She trained her eyes on the charms essay and studied what she'd written carefully. Draco, being an ass, sat down right next to her. It wasn't his fault that he was being one. He didn't know how much Hermione liked him. He was just trying to be nice and as friendly as he could.

He summoned a bottle of water and took a sip. "Whatcha working on?"

"Charms," Hermione said in the quietest voice she could. Any louder and the dreamy accent might take over. That would have been a total embarrassment.

"I see," Draco leaned over next to her, looking down at it with her, "Need any help?"

Hermione shook her head slightly, not trusting her voice. "You okay?" Draco asked.

"I'm fine," Hermione said shortly.

Draco shrugged and sat back, his leg unknowingly brushing against hers. It wouldn't have been as much of a problem if it weren't for the fact that Hermione had misplaced her thigh high socks and was settling for ankle length ones, leaving her legs bare. Her skirt ended a little above her thigh when she sat.

"You sure?" He asked, noticing her hand stop writing and her body tensing next to his.

"You know what, I'll just go to the library!" Hermione exclaimed jumping up.

"Wait no. I didn't mean to . . . I was just trying to," Draco struggled to find the right words.

"No! No, no, no, no. Its not you its just . . . you."

"What?"

"Look I just don't think its a good idea for us to be around each other given our pasts and all," Hermione said.

Draco stood. Hermione made to go for the door but he caught her wrist. Under his fingers, Draco could feel her heartbeat racing. The worst came to his mind.

"Wait, you're not scared of me, right?" He asked timidly.

"No! Oh no, of course not. Its quite the opposite really - something I should not have said," Hermione mumbled her face burning.

It clicked.

"You like me," Draco said scoffing slightly in amusement, "Hermione, do you like me?"

"Of course, you're my friend."

"Hermione," He said slowly, making her heart skip a beat.

"No? Maybe a little?" He gave a look, "Maybe yes?" She sighed in defeat, "Yes."

Draco let go of her and laughed. "Why didn't you just say that?"

"It's embarrassing!" She cried.

"Really? Watch this," He cleared his throat and looked her in the eyes, "Hermione, I like you. Doesn't seem so hard, at least now I know I won't be rejected."

Hermione released a shaky breath and hugged him. "I hate you so much."

Draco laughed. He hugged her back with a huge grin. "I love you too."
