*I couldn't find anyone that would closely resemble James but this is as close as I could find*

When they reached James' vehicle, Brooke couldn't help but notice how extravagant it was. It was a white Cadillac ATS-V coupe with blacked out rims. It looked strange in a small town like this. Out of place would be a better term for it.

When they got inside of the vehicle, Brooke couldn't help but gawk

When they got inside of the vehicle, Brooke couldn't help but gawk. James noticed this and chuckled.

"Nice car." Brooke complimented. James chuckled once more before thanking her.

He pulled out of the parking spot he was in and began driving towards the more residential area. They pulled up to a larger house and just like his car, it also stood out. It wasn't too extravagant but it was the biggest house in the town.

James got out and Brooke did soon after.

They both walked in while he held the door for her. She glanced around and for being a drug lord, he sure had nice taste.

James gestured for Brooke to sit on the couch and she did.

"Can I get you anything? Water? Wine?" He offered. Brooke smirked at his offer.

"I'm under 21, you know that right?"

He shrugged his shoulders in response.

"Your point?"

Brooke laughed before turning down his offer.

"So let's talk." Brooke commanded.

"I asked you if he was around. He told me the reason he left was because of him being locked in a contract with you. He said that he didn't want to make me unhappy by working with you so I can assume he's been in contact with you."

James looked genuinely confused as Brooke explained the situation to him.

"He said he needed to get out of town for a while. He didn't say why but I assumed it had something to do with you. I haven't been in contact with him for a few weeks." James confessed. Brooke's heart shattered as she hoped that James being around meant that Scott was also around but it seemed that she was wrong.

James noticed the look of disappointment on Brooke's face and began comforting her.

"I'm sorry. Truly, I am. If I'd know that he'd left you in such a way, I would've had some of my men trail him but he never told me that he'd broken up with you. He just said that you guys had ended things for the better."

Tears began stinging at Brooke's eyes and she quickly wiped them away, sniffling in the process.

"It's fine. I don't know what I expected. I guess I just thought that he'd eventually come back but I guess he's keeping true to his promise."

James felt a bad for bringing him up but then again, he was also pissed. Scott told two different stories and only one of them was true. If he's known the real reason he'd left, he definitely would've had him men keep an eye on him.

"Ugh! I'm gonna regret doing this but... I'll have some of my men locate him. I don't know how long it will take but I'll see what I can do." James stated in an agitated tone.

Brooke looked at him with a hopeful look on her face.

"Why would you do that?"

James shrugged his shoulders and stood up.

"I've known Scott since his father died. I helped him through tough times and I know him. Whatever it is that he's doing is not him. Plus I don't want to sit here and watch you wallow in your own sorrows." James admitted.

Brooke stood up and hugged him.

"Thank you." She murmured softly.

James gently patted her back with a short grin on his face. He was rooting for the couple and he really hoped he could find Scott.

"Let's get you home." James stated. Brooke stopped him for a moment.

"What about my car?" She asked as she raised an eyebrow.

"I'll have one of my guys drop it off at your place. Don't worry about it." James replied nonchalantly. It seemed as though he had quite a few men at the palm of his hand doing errands for him.

The entire ride to Brooke's house was quiet until they actually got there.

"Thanks for the ride. You know where to find me if you get any info about Scott." Brooke asserted before shutting the door and walking up to the front door where she unlocked it and entered the house.

When she walked inside, she hurried up to her room. She was happy that James decided to help her find Scott. Her first impression of James was that he was a righteous, egotistical dick but seeing this side of him was something new. And Brooke liked it.

Everyday after that, Brooke was anticipating a visit from James, hoping that he would have some information about Scott. Anything would suffice as long as it was something current.

A week before prom and James still hadn't contacted her. She was wondering if he had found anything but she assumed that he didn't because he would've contacted her as soon as possible.

Brooke was eating dinner with her father one night and the conversation was dry.

"You look better. I mean, you seem better. Healthier, more alive." Her father spoke suddenly. Brooke gave her father a reassuring smile but before she could say anything, there was a knock on the door.

Brooke got up and walked over to the door, opening it to see James. He had a look of concern on his face and Brooke was immediately intrigued.

"Can I come in?" He asked.

Suddenly, Brooke's father appeared behind her.

"Can I help you?" He asked in a serious tone.

"Dad, this is James. He's a friend of mine. He was also a friend of Scott's."

"Huh." Brooke's father eyed the man who stood before him. He was wearing a dark blue polo and tan trousers. His black hair was combed neatly with hair spray and he wore a silver Rolex on his wrist along with a dainty silver chain around his neck.

"Well if you hear from him, tell him I'd like to have a chat with him." Brooke's father stated in a cold voice. Both Brooke and James got the message so Brooke invited James inside, excusing herself from dinner.

Brooke guided James up to her bedroom where he sat down in a flurry white desk chair in the corner of her room. Brooke sat on the end of her bed, waiting for James to give her some type of good news.

"My guys narrowed down the area at which Scott could be but the bad thing is that it's in Russia."

Brooke's heart stopped for a moment as she realized that they were this close to seeing Scott again.

"We're gonna find him. Trust me." James promised in a gentler tone. Brooke gave him a warm smile in response. She wanted nothing more than to see him and hug him and kiss him. To touch him would even be enough for her. She just had to see him again.

"I hope so because I won't live without him."
