It's currently New years day, after Jason and I got home from the party I just couldn't help but sense that something happened with him and his friends. He was just out of it, which really made me regret making him go.

"Jason wah wrong wid yuh?" I questioned taking off the decorative pillows from my side of the bed.

"Nothing." He responded nonchalantly lying on the bed.

"It sure doesn't feel like nothing, you've been acting weird ever since I left you with Mateo and Willy."

After I was done setting the pillows aside, I went to lay beside him hoping he would open up.

"What happened, did y'all have a disagreement?" I questioned laying on his chest.

"Something like that." He said, staring up at the ceiling.

"And what was it about?"

"Nars it's the new year and the new year signifies new memories. Now I'm not dismissing you or anything but I don't want to talk about it please just drop it." He said dismissively.

Not challenging him any further, I just laid there thinking about all the possibilities that could have caused him to have a disagreement with his friends and the first thing that came to mind was me.

"I'm sorry that I forced you to go to the party." I said sadly looking up at him.

Sighing lightly he looked down at me and smiled. "It good mn,yuh just show mi weh mi shoulda see from long time."

"And what's that?" I questioned.

"Not every friend wah see yuh happy." He chuckled, but it didn't sound genuine .

Since he said that he didn't want to talk about it,I just let it slide. I've never seen him this sad before. From mi know Jason till now, him always a smile and a gwan like idiot, so this low energy behavior made me realize that sometimes serious happened between him and his friends.

"We supposed to go Portland tomorrow right?" He questioned rubbing my back.

"Yh." I mumbled.

"Good, ago have a likkle chat wid yuh father."

"About what?" I asked quizzically.

"The money situation weh him always a call bout. Him a pressure yuh too much and it need fi stop, tomorrow mi ago mek sure a dat." He said seriously.
