Devin's POV

Racing through the woods to get to Lillian, Gunner felt off. He listened to Paul through the link, and we didn't even bother to stop and fight as men tried to slowed us down. We pummeled right through them, out running them easily as Gunner pushed himself harder. I knew we should never have been able to outrun them, vampires were always faster then us, but for some reason we blurred right past them. My men were following behind me, so I knew that they would take care of the strays. It took no time at all before we reached the caves. Gunner stopped, looking for a way around instead of going through as he darted up the hill. His paws dug into the ground as he pushed himself through the rocky terrain. When we got to the other side, Gunners ears perked up at the sound of her screaming in pain.

Running through the cave we slowed down when we got a scent of blood. Hearing a low growl Gunner relinquished control and shifted. I slowly walked forward, following the sound, stopping when I came face to face with a scene of nightmares. Standing there ahead of me was Paul facing off with his sister. It took my breath away, as I watched Lillian snarl at Paul like his was some threat, but I didn't think it was Lillian but Lola. Seeing her half shifted with her body glowing brightly, I couldn't understand what the hell was happening. She looked crazed, absolutely feral. Looking around the entryway, I seen two men sprawled out on the ground. One was completely torn into, his head barely handing on his body. The other I could tell was still alive, but injured horribly.

"Sis. It's me Paul." I heard Paul whisper to Lillian with his hands up in the air as a sign of surrender. "Lola. Fight it. You don't want to hurt me, Lilly will never forgive you." He stated as he knelt down on his knees. Lola kept snapping her jaws and snarling at him in pure rage. I watched, holding my breath, as Gunner peered out watching through my eyes. My eyes snapped in the direction of the man crawling on the ground. The noise of his moaning as he got to his feet, took Lola's attention away from Paul, as she lunged on top of the guy, slicing into his ribs and back. Growling fiercely as she sank her teeth into his shoulder, shaking her head, ripping chunks of flesh from his body.

I ran closer to Paul as he took off running toward Lillian, wrapping his arms around her torso, pulling her away from him. "Shh. It's over Lola. Give my sister control." Paul whispers in her ear as she kept mauling the man. I ran up, my hands going towards her face. Grabbing her head between both my hands, I look her in the eyes. The sparks flood up through my hands, as her body heat cools slightly as recognition takes hold of who we are to her.

Watching her eyes as the light dims, and her body cools down, she knees buckle as she falls to the ground in a heap. Paul went with her to keep her calm and comforted. I kneel down, rubbing her arms, trying to get her back to her normal self. Her claws retract, as do her canines. Looking on helplessly, as I let the sparks from our skin, show her that we are hers.

I looked over at Paul who was also baffled as his skin and mine cooled down right along side hers. Hearing a small crumbling sound, my eyes snapped towards the exit. I just wasn't prepared for what I would see, Paul also looked and we both took in the figure that stood watching, looking down at us in awe. The woman oozed of authority, as she stepped closer, Gunner growled at her in warning. She tilted her head as if she just couldn't believe somebody would actually challenge her. "Hush there Gunner. I mean no harm to my sweat child." she stated as she stepped closer. "I couldn't stand by and watch her be destroyed any longer. A pure soul such as hers, needs to find the strength to fight, to feel the true power that she holds. I just gave her a nudge, one that would unlock the power of true sacrifice and love for her people. " She stated as she knelt down and caressed Lillian's cheek with the back of her fingers. "She always took the lesser road, never wanted to take a life and always sacrificed her own well being so she didn't have to cause any harm to anyone." She took a deep breath in. Her eyes snapped to me as I sat there watching her, "Congrats by the way. Be the man she hopes you to be." she told me as she stood up, looking back down to Lilly.

I didn't understand. I knew Lillian always sacrificed herself for the sake of others, but why did she congratulate me for? What did I do? "What are you talking about?" I asked as I continued rubbing Lilly's arms while she melted against me. "I think you know what I mean. I only strengthened the bond between her and her pack. Being her mate, your bond and senses should pick up on more than that of any other Alpha. Listen, and feel. You should be able to tell." She smiled brightly. Paul's eyes snapped to mine as I searched the bond, listening for anything that was not normal, then I felt it. I felt a new tether, my eyes widened as I looked down at Lillian's stomach. My hand instantly went there to feel for myself. I was having a baby. When my eyes darted back up to look at her, she was gone, just vanished into thin air.

I wrapped my arms under Lillian and lifted her to carry her out of this place and back home, safe where she belongs. She cradled her head into my chest, I could feel her breathing even out as she inhaled my scent. Kissing her head, I started the long trip home.
