Devin's POV

Lil was livid, she wanted nothing to do with any of us. I couldn't really blame her, I would be pissed too if people kept things from me but we did it for her own good. She had been through so much that we didn't want to add to the stress by telling her that Amelia escaped the council. The worry that I felt by telling her and her reaction was causing my heart to break. Knowing that it would cause more stress on her but seeing her now was causing her stress. I hated seeing her angry especially at us. My whole pack ran, so they didn't break under her command.

Looking in her eyes, I cupped her cheek. "I will tell you but you need to know that we didn't want to cause you any more stress than you already have had. We all love you." I began wanting her to know the reason behind us keeping it from her. Her eyes were red and glassy from crying. I swallowed hard, glancing over at Shawn then back to her I put my head down, not wanting to look into her eyes when she breaks. "Umm. I don't know an easy way to say this, so I'm just going to spit it out... Amelia escaped the council. She was demoted to an Omega but during transport to the facility she escaped custody." I looked up, her eyes wide with shock. I reached for her but she backed away from my grasp.

"And the both of you never thought that it was important to tell me this?" she exclaimed, her eyes darting between Shawn and I. I could hear her heart rate rise, beating faster, if she didn't get herself under control she would no doubt shift. I knew she was furious with us for not telling her. "After everything that that woman did, you thought I shouldn't know that she is free! What the fuck! How could you?" She screamed as her body started to tremble. Shawn put his head down briefly, I knew he felt horrible but we really believed it was for her own good. I tried to reach for her again, but she slapped my hand away. "I'm sorry... We really thought it would be best to not tell you. Calm down babe... Please..." I stuttered out.

One minute she was yelling at us, the next she shifted and took off. Shawn and I jumped to our feet in panic chasing after her but we lost her. "Attention all pack members... Keep an eye out for your Luna. She took off, please search but if she is still on pack lands do not approach. Keep an eye out only." I gave the order to the pack. Hoping that if I gave her some space she would come to her senses and know we did it to protect her from the pain.

Shawn and I kept looking for her, following her scent through the pack lands till we lost it near the stream that ran along the border. Shawn went across to see if he could pick up on her scent on the other side but no such luck. I huffed in annoyance, letting him know to come back. "You don't think she masked herself from us do you?" Shawn questioned. I thought about it for a moment and I sure hoped not but then again she was really pissed at us. I knew she blocked us out, shielded us from mind linking her, and I was hoping that she wouldn't be crazy enough to mask her scent from us too, knowing Amelia escaped. I guess I underestimated her.

Lillian's POV

I can't believe that they would keep that from me. I knew something was up, but that was not what I expected. Running off, letting pure emotion guide me, I found myself at the borders edge. I knew patrols are out and sooner or later they would find me. Masking my scent I shifted and climbed the huge oak tree. I sat on the limb watching out over the waters edge when I heard them running up. Looking down, they wondered around aimlessly, trying to find out which way I went. Watching Shawn cross the water he searched, but I knew he wouldn't find anything. I kept my block up, as I watched them below. I hated them for what they have done, but I felt bad seeing the worry on them. I thought I would let them suffer for a few minutes before heading back.

Watching Shawn and Devin leave, I sat up in the tree thinking. I must have been lost in thought till my shoulder was radiating pain so sharp I fell out of the tree. I hit the ground, my body aching with such pain but my shoulder was stinging so bad. I looked over to see my shoulder was bleeding, on closer inspection there was a hole that went straight through it. Grabbing my shoulder I put pressure on it to stem the bleeding when I heard the one voice I never thought I would hear this soon.

My eyes snapped towards the stream, when I saw her. I stood up, dusting myself off when she shifted and charged directly at me. I tried to shift, but was unable to when she landed right on top of me. Her claws digging into my side, as I tried to get out from under her. What the fuck was I hit with? I couldn't shift, I couldn't even mind link for help. Silver! Fuck! I am on my own. I grabbed ahold of her head, using all my might, I tossed her off and got to my feet.

I knew I would never make it back to the pack house by running. She was a lot faster than me since I couldn't shift, so I had no choice but to confront her here and now. She lunged at me again, side stepping I forced my claws out and raked them down her side. She healed quickly, the pain from forcing the half shift nearly knocking me out. I stumbled backwards, grabbing ahold of a tree to stop from falling. She turned, baring her teeth, snapping at me viciously. Looking around quickly, I grab a broken tree limb swinging it at her for it to snap off at the impact. She lunged again, landing on top of me, her body going limp and shifting abruptly. I felt the warmth of liquid run down my hands and arms. Shoving her off, I seen the tree limb sticking out of her chest.

Blood spewing from her mouth as she coughed. "You fucking bitch. I'm going to kill you, just like I killed that mutt of a baby of yours." She sputtered as she grabbed the limb and pulled it out. What did she just say? I was so consumed about the loss of my child that she brought back into the forefront of my mind, that I didn't realize I walked over and snapped her neck. Adrenaline so strong from the anger I felt towards her, I twisted her neck so hard that not only did it break, but I ripped it completely off her body.

Snapping out of my daze, I looked down at my hands and saw I still had ahold of her head. Dangling by her hair, I threw it down. Not noticing Shawn and Devin until my eyes snapped to where I threw her decapitated head, I looked at their worried faces. "Shh... It's okay love... Shh..." Devin whispered as he walked over to me, stepping over Amelia's body as if it was just a log that was in the way. "I...I...I killed her." I uttered, I couldn't tear my eyes away from what I had done. "It's okay love... you are safe. Shh..." Devin stated as he inhaled my scent. He knocked my legs out from under me, cradling me in his arms.

"Deal with it!" Devin ordered to Shawn. My head rolled towards his chest, as darkness took me.
