Taken away

As I opened my eyes I couldn't decide whether all of this was a dream or simply a nightmare. Was that even real?

Like weird déjà vu.

"No, no, no.. it can't be.." I whispered, feeling like I was drowning.

As I slowly put my hand on the left side of my abdomen where I was stabbed, I felt sharp pain. Immediately I started panicking. I believed all of this was just a deep coma. That the relationship with Simon never existed.

I heard the storm rage outside, the wind howling like a pack of wolves. The sound of raindrops hitting the window was like a lullaby to me, which relieved my stress.

As I tried to find the scar that had marked me for the rest of my life, my hands trembled. But there was no wound left on my face.

All of this was real. The love and spark between me and Simon was real.

Relief spread through my whole body, reminding me how good it felt not to worry about a thing. And as calmness filled my head I started to recall moments of that cursed night. I still couldn't understand what Isaac's friends had against me. I never bothered them and I wasn't the one who decided to break up. Though it was sad to remember those times with him. After that relationship I promised myself not to get into a new one. I didn't want to feel weak, I wanted to rely only on myself. But that son of a bitch Ghost made me so soft and I still to that day couldn't forgive myself.

But where was he?

Ignoring the pain, I was feeling quite fresh and I couldn't wait until Simon came to visit me.

...

It wasn't long before I heard the door open. But the man who entered my room was unknown to me. So tall, with his dark hair and beard, it looked like he was some Mexican guy. With his military clothes and guns attached to his uniform, he looked intimidating, but his eyes told me he was gentle and kind.

"Ah, you are finally awake, Y/N" His thick accent made me question that whole situation even more.

"It's Heroin" As I heard him address me by my real name I got annoyed. But before he got a chance to say a word, I continued "Do I know you?"

I was eager to know who he was. I was still not sure why he was here and not Simon.

"My name is Alejandro. Alejandro Vargas, a new member of Task 1-4-1" A smile appeared on his face and I wondered why he was so happy to be there.

"Ok.. and?" I was genuinely confused why he wanted to see me.

"Just came in to check on you" Standing at the foot of the bed he crossed his arms and continued looking at me.

"Where is Ghost? Have you seen him?"

"He is alright, Ghost had to leave for a few days" He explained.

"How long has it been since.."

"Almost a week" He didn't even let me finish what I was saying. Alejandro just interrupted me like I was nothing.

"Shit.." I wondered why all the crappy things always happened to me. Was I really that stupid and unfocused?

"He will be back soon. Oh, and also he wanted me to give you this when you wake up" He handed me a small box wrapped in red paper.

In my whole life I had never gotten a gift from a family member or a friend. Realizing Simon loved me that much to even get me a present made me feel butterflies in my stomach.

I slowly reached for the box. I couldn't help but smile, feeling my heart race as I touched the present. I carefully tore the wrapping paper and opened the box to find a golden bracelet. But it wasn't just an ordinary bracelet. Our initials were carved on half a dog, and I immediately recalled his joke.

"What is that?" Alejandro came closer.

"It is an inside joke. You wouldn't get it" I replied as I put on the bracelet. However, I didn't know what exactly was clouding my mind.

Joy was overtaking my body but I felt disappointment in myself. I had nothing to give Simon. To be honest, I had never given anyone a present before. But my thoughts were interrupted once again by Alejandro.

"Well, if you are doing alright and don't need any help, I will go now. Just don't do anything stupid or else Ghost will kill me" He joked as if trying to comfort me.

"Yeah, see you around" I said not paying attention to him, all of my focus on that wonderful bracelet.

...

A knock on my room's door caught my attention as I was checking my phone. While I expected to see Soap, instead a doctor appeared. From the second I saw his expression I knew that something wasn't right. A sense of unease was written all over the doctor's face as he continued to look at me, with eyes full of sorrow.

"How are you feeling today?" He tried to ease the tension in the room.

"Get straight to the point and tell me what's wrong" Small tears formed in my eyes, making it difficult for me to see clearly.

I sat up in bed, my heart pounding in my chest as I waited for him to speak. He then cleared his throat and was ready to announce the bad news. He pulled up a chair beside the bed, sat down and took a deep breath before speaking.

"You were deeply stabbed, hence why you lost so much blood" His voice was somber and low.

"But I am still here, does that matter?"

"Blood was not the only thing lost" The doctor looked at me with a mixture of compassion and empathy in his eyes.

"What..?" My strength to speak was slowly fading away.

"Y/N Y/L/N, you were two weeks pregnant. There was nothing we could do"
