Chapter 144: Shadows 101: Class Dismissed

The roll call went smoothly after the disastrous first attempt.

"Dawn Fitzherbert."

"Herrrrrre." Dawn waved apologetically, embarrassed to be associated with her brother. "I'm the good Fitzpatrick."

The class chuckled nervously. Wendy was still too irked to join.

"Cole Frost."

"Here." said an airman with crystalized breath, obviously the son of Elsa and Jack Frost.

"Iclyn Frost."

"Here." said Cole's sister. Her breath was also crystalized, but her hair was lavender and pink.

"Maximilian Goof."

"Max." corrected Master Goofy's son. His eyes darted to a redhead in the second row. "Thanks."

Wendy made a note. "And next I have Gullgill the Outspoken."

"Here!" exclaimed a heavyset Viking. "And that's my sister over there, Quailscale Ingerman!"

Wendy followed his finger to a lanky girl. Obviously Gullgill and Quailscale were the children of Fishlegs and Ruffnut.

"Hiro Hamada." she resumed.

A boy of Japanese descent raised a stylus.

"Ani and Kai Kawena."

A girl and boy, the children of Nani and David, shook surfer's fists. "Sup."

"Rani Krystalwing."

"Here." replied a willowy pixie. Wendy did a double take – Rani's wings were hardly noticeable. They hung listlessly down her spine.

The Family Madrigal occupied the next five minutes, culminating in Mirabel, who continued to ogle at Wendy like a rabid dog.

Froggy was next.

"Oscar Maldonia." Wendy quickly located him beside Dawn. "You prefer Froggy, yes?"

Froggy bopped three fingers to his temple. "Boom!"

Apparently that meant yes.

"Bess Medium."

A pixie with heart-shaped wings lifted her hand. Her nails were multicolored, but chipped.

"Fira Moth."

"Here!" sang a second pixie, her black ponytail tied into puffs.

"Beck Motherdove."

"Here," said another pixie, this one with honey-blonde locks. "I think you know my cousin, Fawn."

Wendy immediately saw the resemblance. Shaggy bangs. Bright eyes. High energy. "Yes, I've worked alongside Fawn for years. Pleasure to meet you Beck."

Beck gave a thumbs up.

"Moana Motunui." Wendy continued.

"Here." A Polynesian girl waved between the Kawena siblings. Aquamarine droplets flicked from her palm.

"Oops!" Moana ripped down her hand. "I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to be disrespectful. That's my gift from the Magic Bag of Tricks. Water just flings out of me. I'm a human hose. Please don't kick me out."

"It's quite alright." Wendy smiled. The tension in the room relaxed. "That's a very interesting power. Have you learned to control it?"

"Yeah Moana!" Kai held back laughter. "Have you learned to control it?"
