The elevator dinged and the metal door slid open. Kara took a deep breath and rubbed her hands on her jeans, trying to stop her nervousness. She stuck her head out of the metallic box and looked around. Nobody was near her. This time the kryptonian doesn't think twice before starting off toward Lena's officer, ignoring the starving eyes around that follower her every step. When the blonde finally saw the balcony, Kara couldn't help but give a loud sigh of relief, grateful another war had passed.

"Are you okay?" Kara spun in a jump, then noticed Jess gazing at her with a steady and odd look. Luthor's receptionist was sharing a worried and afraid look, holding herself back from asking a lot of questions, although it was not necessary to understand what was happening. Kara was a mess. Her yellow wires didn't stop in the same place and her face was so red that Jess could swear Kara had run a marathon to reach there, but she knew it was not the case, let alone asking about Kara Danvers. "Do you want a glass of water or something else?" The receptionist asked her.

"No Jess, thank you." Kara worked hard to show her a smile whilst trying to not forget how to breathe. Since she had done an interview with Cat Grant, everyone's attention had turned to her, invading her personal space. And it was moments like this when Kara wished she could have her old life back. "Could you ask me if Lena is free?"

"She finished her last meeting not too long ago, but-" Jess immediately stopped the blonde to get in with a hand, "Better you calm down first. You know how much Lena worries about you. If she sees you like that, I'm afraid she won't be able to work, and you know how she gets when she has work backed up."

"Oh, good point Jess." Kara then closed her eyes and filled her lungs with air slowly. A hand was put on her heart, hearing the heartbeats calming down. Kara knew Jess was as curious as others to question her about Supergirl's issues, but she was really grateful Jess didn't do it for Kara's own good. The blonde didn't remember when Jess and she had started building a friendship, but she suspected it happened daily without either of them noticing. Jess was a kind woman and did whatever she could to make her boss happy, even if it meant bending a few small rules for Kara. "I'm sorry to worry you, Jess. I'm just not used to getting this much attention. Today it was almost impossible to come here cuz everybody in the National City was stopping me on the street, and... I don't know, it's so odd. Even my coworkers at Catco were looking at me. Me! The invisible Kara Danvers."

"Kara Danvers, the famous editor-in-chief from Catco who's the only one who who hasn't been fired by the scary Cat Grant?" Jess asked with a head slightly tilted, causing Kara to chuckle. Okay, maybe Kara Danvers was not as invisible as she thought, but it was nothing compared with what was happening right now. "See, I can imagine how uncomfortable it's for you. Even when Super-... Even when you were wearing the Supergirl suit you wouldn't stay in front of the cameras for so long, and now..."

"I'm paying for my sins." Kara looked down in humming, as Jess tried to cover her own mouth to avoid laughing at the blonde's drama. As the Luthor's receptionist thinks, no matter what, Kara Danvers would always be Kara Danvers. "How does Lena handle all these interviews with so much calm? It's like everybody was just waiting for you to make a mistake to step on you." Jess gave her a small smile. Kara could feel the nervousness in Jess' tense lips before she sighed and shrugged. It was not 'it's like', but actually 'when' it is going to happen. "Sure, I definitely admire Lena." Kara affirmed.

The women didn't even notice the lock sound next to them, making them turn to the door. The gorgeous Luthor was stopping at the entrance, looking for something in her black handbag, distracted by everything around her. Kara's blue eyes couldn't help but gaze over Lena's body and realize how beautiful she also looked that day. Lena was dressed down in a black skirt and jacket, just like the first time they had met each other, bringing back old memories for the blonde. Five years had passed since then, and her best friend continued to be stunning as ever. Always intelligent, always inspired, always the person with the biggest heart Kara had ever met. Kara felt like the luckiest person to have Lena as her friend, and she was fully aware of this fact. Lena was incredible.
