Nathan

There she stood in all her fineness...

"Hello, boys, what a surprise," Rey spoke up in an awkward tone. Casey looked back at me and snapped his fingers.

"Ay, man, you there?" He said pulling back to earth.

"Well, is the car here?" Rey suddenly said looking around.

"Duh, smart ass, its right there." Casey yelled to her, gesturing to the Camry.

"Who are you calling a smart ass... Asshole?" Rey jumped in, throwing her hands up in the air.

"You, miss, 'ghetto faboulous'." He inched closer to her face.

"Oh, white boy, you're itching for it real bad."

"Come and get me black girl, as if you can lay a finger on me." They continued to go back and forth, yelling about nonsense, making up jokes about each others mothers and family members and threatened each other.

I could tell for the longest that they never liked each other, but I never knew that it was this bad. They were like an old married couple.

"Hey, hey, hey. Ebony and Ivory, shut up now!" Candy spoke up in-between the argument with her hands now on, Rey and Casey chest.

"Uh, I guess we should get this show on the role then," I finally spoke as I took a few steps to Casey and snatched up his arm. "No need for a fight now, it's pointless." Casey looked at me angrily. "Hey don't give me that look, I didn't do shit." I spat, letting go off his arm to look Candice's way.

"He started it." Rey said childishly, pointing to Casey.

"And so I finished it." Casey added sticking out his tongue.

What a bunch of Middle-Schoolers.

We all split up into our own sections of the room, as if a magnet pulled us to it. We all looked around.

"What the fuck is going on here?" Rey gestured to Casey and then the car, breaking the silence.

"Uh, well if I put everything back in its place and close the hood, then could you please not bitch?" Casey answered in a mocking tone,
"Oh, boy you better watch it. You're itching for a serious ass whooping...Don't get cocky with me." Rey threatened with a fist in the air.

"What did I say?" Candice snapped, shaking her finger, like a mother would to her misbehaving child.

Casey ignores her and throws up his hands to surrender, walking off mumbling insults under his breath.
I laughed out of nowhere. Rey shoots me evil eyes. I divert my eyes, to avoid getting sucked into the drama.

Candice walks over to Rey and cautiously pulls her towards the car. They both stood and observed it carefully. Candice learn in to whisper something in Rey's ear and they both behind to giggle unusually. I couldn't help but to be Nosey, so I crept closer.

"So, girls, how's it going?" I inserted myself.

They peer over their shoulders at the same time, faces in a serious expression.

"Just fine, lover boy... Do you have something on your mind?" Rey questioned with folded arms.

"No, not at all. I Just hope you don't mind me speaking to Candice here." I couldn't help this sudden boldness that came over me, just like at the party. I wanted nothing more than for it to go away. I felt like I would get myself into loads of mischief.

"Why sure lover boy, but don't take too long." She teased, rocking back and forth, childishly giggling.

My feet making it's way to Candice's side.

"Hey..."

"Hey!" She didn't bother to make eye contact.

"So uh, I was wondering..." I paused to think of the right way to ask her. I began to fidget.

"Yes." She stared ahead, waiting.

"I was thinking, maybe...you and I could, you uh-" Oh my God Nathan, just spit it out, I thought to myself.

This bold thing was like a faulty fuse, just going on and off when it wanted. I was starting to hate the feeling and from that point, I thought of all the courage and balls I had. Before I dated Gail, I could ask out any girl I wanted and it was like easy magic, but now the game had changed. I couldn't ask this girl one stupid question.

'WILL YOU GO ON A DATE WITH ME?'

"What is it Nathan?" Candice gave me an impatientuglare.

"For Christ sake, just go on a date with the boy?" I heard Rey yell not to far behind her.

I looked from Candice and drop her a thankful grin. She followed up with a wink.

I looked back to Candice.
"Will you?" I continued where Rey started. She bit down on both her lips till it turned pale around her mouth, that I stared at it perversely.

It later hit me through all the freakish thoughts in my head, that she was saying something.

"Hmm." I blinked noticing her mouth parted slightly.

"You weren't listening weren't you?" she asked. "But, I said... I would love to."

To be honest, I had no idea she would say yes and I also had no idea where to take her. I couldn't help but feel a overly excited inside that she agreed to go out with me.

"Ok, this better be good." She says placing her index finger to my face warningly.

We weren't even in a relationship and the chemistry we shared was so rich, that it coiled in my insides and I wanted nothing more than to pleasure her in all the right ways, give her the ride of her life, make her want to say my...

"OK, beautiful, let start up this baby." I hear Casey say behind me, right as he closes the door.

"So, is it all set?" Candy says, pulling out a credit card out of her a tiny red lip shaped purse.

"Yep, she's ready to go." Casey answered patting the car hood and takes the card easily out of Candice's hand. "Whoa check out this bad boy, some ones a serious shopper huh?" She giggles at the comment and places her hands on her voluptuous hips, it's like they were calling my name.

"Oh no, well, not really." She continues to giggle and moves around shyly.
I felt my core tighten as I watch the exchange between her and Casey. I had to make a run for it, before I did something really stupid.

"So Candice, I'll pick you up tomorrow, like around... four?" I returned to her pretty eyes before turning to leave.

"Uh yea, sure, cool," She smiled before turned back to Casey, who went on discussing details about the car.

"Alright, see you around then." I told her when I reached my bike, that was parked up by a corner outside the garage.

"Yea sure," She said back not turning to look at me at all, she only laughed with Casey and it caused acid to form in my chest. I snatched up my bike, roughly and got on it with a little too much force.

"Later lover boy," Rey called, right as I was rolling the bike to turn. There was something sinister about her grin.

"Oh, see yah Rey... Later Casey." I shouted my goodbyes to him but he ignored me. Why was he sl suddenly infatuated with her, I mean, I get that she was beautiful, but I hoped he knew that I was interested in her. I rolled my eyes and pulled off, leaving everyone there.

I needed a shower to clear my mind.

I couldn't wait for us to be alone.
