This is a high school Mighty Nein AU. It is set in a modern world, but keeps the fantasy magic and races. All the trauma is kept, but changed to work with the new setting. The empire is more like a state or a small country. We start at the beginning of the school year. Some friendships are already established, but otherwise, the Might Nein have not really met yet. This roughly follows the campaign, so for that purpose, Caduceus is not introduced yet. Cover art is not my own! I found it on Pinterest and do not know the og artist. Background (This stuff will come up later, so reading it is not completely necessary): Fjord and Caduceus have been attending this school system the longest, as they went to elementary school in this system, but up until now, Caduceus has been online and partially homeschooled. Beau transferred to the school last year and quickly gained a reputation. She spent her 8th-grade year and her freshman and sophomore years at the Cobalt Reserve. Caleb and Nott just transferred here; the two know each other already because they met a few weeks before school started. They both got thrown into the mall jail for reasons, but they weren't in any real trouble. Jester used to be homeschooled by private tutors her mother hired. Mollymauk has never had formal schooling before, which worries Gustav just a little. And Yasha took a sort of gap year while she was running away, before she attended a sort of homeschool with other kids in her tribe.

A dangerous threat looms over the realm of Tal'Dorei, and the Sovereign sends out a call to adventurers to aid the land in its time of need. Enter Vox Machina, a motley crew of misfits and general menaces to society who may be Tal'Dorei's best chance at salvation...if they can get their shit together first. Ladies and gentlemen, meet our heroes. Gods help us all.
