"He's always like this." I scoffed, settling in bed. I stared at the empty space in front of me. Today was our 3 year anniversary. All I wanted was to spend the day together, watch a movie, play some video games, or just doing nothing but cuddle, but apparently Barbara needed help for a future mission assignment and today was the only day she was free. Right now it was dark and Dick went out to keep the streets of Bludhaven safe. I understood that it was for a mission, but did it have to be today of all days? Of course I didn't complain, I'm in the same line of work and what we do is important to saving lives. Did I really want to be the one to say, "you stood me up on our anniversary?" Or anything along those lines? Not really.
I turned around, facing my back towards Dick's half of the bed and stared at the dresser against the wall. The room was dark since the curtains were closed and the lights were obviously off. I eventually drifted off to sleep.

The next day, I went to the hideout, as per usual. I smiled at everyone, wishing them good mornings and stuff. I noticed Batgirl talking to Nightwing and she noticed me. Before she could say anything, I turned around and began walking the other way.
I made it all the way to the living room seeing it was empty. I then made my way to the spare bedroom I had within the hideout. I flicked my hand to lock the door and pulled down the hood on my head, unclipping the cape and tossing it on the bed. I closed the curtains with a wave of my hand and sat down, closed my eyes and concentrated.
"Azarath metreon zenthos..." I spoke calmly.
I heard a knock on my door. "Who is it?" I asked calmly.
"It's me." I knew it was Dick.
"Busy." I replied.
"Babe? Open the door?" He asked.
"Busy." I repeated.
"Can we talk? One minute?" He asked.
"Again, busy." I repeated, a little more force behind my words.
"But-"
I glared at the door, and a strong force resonated off the door and I heard a thud and a crash on the other side. I took a few deep breath to calm myself before landing back on my feet. I could sense Dick had left already. I hoped he wasn't injured from that, but I knew he was tough so he couldn't have been hurt too bad... hopefully. I sighed and returned to my meditation.

As Dick got to his feet, he sighed and looked at the broken glass around him. He left to get a trash bin and some towels to clean up the mess. After (Y/n) had pushed him away he crashed into the wall, knocking down the picture frame as well.
"What are you doing dude?" Dick looked up seeing his best friend, Wally West, formerly Kid Flash and beside him was his fiance, Artemis Crock.
(Wally doesn't die in this!)
"Just broke a picture frame." Dick replied showing the trash bin of broken glass and a cracked picture frame.
"How'd that happen?" Artemis asked.
"I kinda messed up." Dick said putting down the bin.
"Again?" Wally asked.
"Dude.." Dick just stared at Wally who shrugged.
"What did you do?" Artmeis asked him.
"I kind of... blew off our anniversary plans.." Dick said awkwardly rubbing his neck.
"Dude..." Wally sighed and looked at Artemis.
"Did you forget?" Artemis asked.
"No! I mean kinda? Look, Babs asked me for a favor. She needed to learn tightrope for a mission and I'm the closest one with experience so she asked me to teach her what I knew.. or remembered. Anyway I accepted. I planned for it to only take like an hour, but then time passed by and before I knew it the whole day was gone." Dick sighed.
"You messed up." Artmeis said.
"I know." Dick replied. "I went to apologize and take whatever punishment or whatever treatment she wanted to give me. Then this happened." Dick motioned to the trash bin.
"How did a whole day pass and you didn't even realize?" Wally asked Dick.
"... the tightrope... even though it wasn't the same, it was nostalgic. Reminded me of... when things were simpler." Dick said.
Artemis sighed and walked towards Dick, "I'll try talk to her. But no promises." She said and left the two boys on their own.

I heard another knock at my door. "Who is it?" I asked.
"It's me, you busy?" I heard and recognized the voice.
"Artemis?" I asked and opened the door. Artemis stood there with a smile and I hugged her.
"How have you been?" She asked me.
"Good, what about you?! I heard Wally popped the question~" I smiled and she blushed a bit.
"We'll save that story for another time." She said. "Can I come in?" She asked.
"Oh yeah." I stepped aside and she walked into my room, sitting in my bed.
"Wally and I passed Dick on the way here." She told me.
"Oh, you did... is he okay?" I asked.
"He looks fine, but knowing him he could be hiding any injuries he has." She told me.
"Y-yeah... I guess." I muttered.
"Are you mad at him?" She asked me.
"He told you about the.. anniversary thing?" I asked and she nodded.
"I wanted to hear your side." She said and pat the space next to her. I sat down and fiddled with the blanket.
"I mean... I'm not that upset.. just disappointed I guess. I was really looking forward to spending the day with him." I sighed. "At night he's on patrol or working. In the morning he's working or were both here and too busy to spend some time together. Date nights are rare and on things like holidays.. well we don't have the luxury to enjoy them and our birthdays... it's not the same as our anniversary.." I told her.
"I understand." Artemis said, "but shouldn't you talk to him about this? You're the one always telling me to communicate more with Wally when we fight or argue." She told me.
"But.. it's not like he did anything wrong. I understand that he needed to help Barbara with whatever it was she needed help with. It's for a mission and who knows how many lives are on the line.." I rest my head on my palm. "... I don't want to seem selfish..." I mumbled. "I just need to work this out myself." I smiled at Artemis.
"... will you be okay?" She asked and I nodded.
"Promise." I said and she nodded.
"I have to get back to Wally, if you want to talk, you know I'm available." She smiled and I nodded as she walked out of my room.
The day was finally over, with nothing big happening. I unlocked the door to our shared apartment and saw Dick's keys on the nearby table, but the lights were out. "Did he go patrol already?" I thought putting down my own keys and locking the closed door behind me.
I noticed the light in the kitchen on and sighed, thinking that Dick had forgotten about it. I walked towards the kitchen and paused seeing Dick dressed in a button up white shirt with black dress pants and a dark blue bow tie. "Your... home..." I said and he smiled.
He walked towards me, kissing my forehead and led me to the dining table with my favorite dinner waiting for me.
"Did you make this?" I asked as he pulled out my chair for me.
"I tried. So if it's bad, sorry about that." He spoke in a gentle voice, pushing my chair back in and sitting beside me. "I know I messed up. I know this can't make up for it and I know you were really looking forward to it and I'm sorry." He said. I felt his hand envelop mine and I turned my gaze towards him. "Happy Anniversary. I'm sorry it's late." He said to me with that dorky adorable smile I fell in love with.
I sighed pouting slightly. "That face is unfair.." I thought. "I'm not that mad anyway... I'm also sorry for this afternoon.. throwing you against the wall." I said to him and he just smiled more.
"I'm not that fragile." He said. "Not even a scratch." He kissed my hand and I rolled my eyes.
"Let's just eat." I said, pulling my hand back so I could eat with both hands.
The food he made was good despite him not being that good of a chef. I was worried when he said he made this, after all, he managed to find a way to burn water once.
"Do you like it?" He asked me.
"Of course I like it. You made it for me." I smiled and ate another bite.
I saw him blush with a shy smile at my compliment out of the corner of my eye. "I also have a bath ready for you. Well not ready ready. I still have to set up the water and all those bubbles and stuff. Oh, but if you don't want the bubbles then I can just get the water ready for you. Ah, but if you want a shower instead of a bath then just ignore what I said and yeah." He rambled and I couldn't help but laugh a little.
"A bath sounds great Dick. What are you so nervous for?" I asked as he let out a relieved sigh.
"Artemis told me about... how you felt. You were thinking about Bab's mission and you didn't want to be like a selfish partner?" He asked and I nodded, slightly embarrassed.
I heard his chair skid against the tile floor and he knelt beside me, holding both my hands in his. "I should've thought about how you'd feel. But, if you told me I would have had someone else teach Bab's. Also, if it's you, I don't mind if you get a bit selfish with me. You're cute when you get all possessive." He teased.
"P-possessive? Isn't that a bit..." I felt my cheeks burn. "Whatever.." I mumbled.
"I'll get the bath ready and I'll clean the dishes. Then we can lay on the couch and read or watch whatever you want okay?" He asked.
"Stop pampering me." I huffed standing up, making him laugh.
"You're so cute when embarrassed." He said as I went to go find some PJ's as he set up my bath.

We both lay in bed, watching a new movie that got released. "He's sexy." I mumbled watching the male lead with the female lead.
Dick hummed at my comment, his arms tightening around my waist. "Not that sexy." He mumbled.
"True.. (fav idol/actor/etc) is more sexier." I said.
"What about me?" He asked, resting his chin on my shoulder.
"You?" I asked, glancing down at him.
"Yeah, me." He spoke like a child.
"... I may have to be convinced." I smiled and I saw him smirk as one of his hands crawled its way up my shirt.
"I'll take that challenge." He whispered into my ear.
The rest of the night, he proved in many ways, multiple times, that he was indeed... very sexy.
