It was here. The day all of E class had been equally anticipating and dreading. This was their best shot to assassinate Koro-sensei. The plan was simple, the eight who were owed tentacles (the canon seven plus Y/N) would take them out, then the rest of the class would swoop in and finish the job. Y/N had to admit that it was a good plan, but she knew that the more phases a plan had, the more that could go wrong, and with the amount of complex planning needed for the main plan, there was no way she could come up with backup plans for every variable. She would just have to trust her classmates, a feat which was easier said than done when last night apparently a small group of them had tried to catch their teacher in his birthday suit. She shuddered just thinking about it.

"Wow, that's not a happy face, what, did you imagine Terasuka in his swimming trunks?" Karma slung his arm round her shoulders, dropping down next to her,

"Worse" she shuddered, trying to get the image out of her head and failing,

"What, Terasuka without his swimming trunks on?"

"Are you trying to give me nightmares?" She asked, he laughed and pulled her by her wrist to the next activity,

"C'mon, we only get one shot at this, Ms Professional, we can't blow it 'cause of laziness." She rolled her eyes, she had finished all her tasks ages ago, but she helped out with the final touches until late afternoon, before getting ready for the big event.

"Hey, Y/N, can you give us a hand over here?" The assassin turned around to see Nakamura and Okuda struggling with a waterboard, she waved goodbye to the redhead and went to help the two before Okuda fell over completely,

"T-Thanks" the girl muttered, a little embarrassed that she needed help with such a simple task,

"Sooooo, Y/N, were you talking to Karma just now?" Rio interjected, wiggling her eyebrows so vigorously it was a miracle they stayed on her face,

"Oh, shut up! we're still friends" the H/C shifted the weight of the board onto one hand in order to slap the blonde girls arm, forcing Okuda to duck as the heavy board swung around, "oh shit! Sorry Okuda"

"It's fine, he doesn't like me like that" she smiled sadly,

"Um, I was actually talking about the nearly hitting you with a chunk of metal, but yeah, sorry for that too."

"Wow, this conversation is a massive train wreck" Nakamura commented,

"I nearly gave Okuda a concussion, I won't think twice about giving you one too." Y/N warned,

"Ok, ok, what do I have to do to avoid a concussion." She laughed, stepping slightly out of range, just to be safe. Y/N saw and grinned,

"Buy me a drink after the assassination."

"Like a date or....." she ducked, laughing her head off as Y/N swung the board around again, "it's a date! See you at seven!" The two girls went their seperate ways, leaving Okuda in shock, wondering what the hell she had just witnessed.

"Hey, you ok? You look a little jumpy," Karma was startled out of his head as he felt Y/N put her hand on his shoulder,

"Yeah, just wondering what to do with my share of the ten billion." Y/N laughed,

"don't count your chickens before they hatch, we need to kill him first." Her time in the sun had given her a slight tan, making her eyes seem even more stunning. She had tied her hair back into a ponytail, yet her fringe still escaped in order to curl round her face, framing perfectly like a piece of art. He was astounded by the amount of times he found himself marvelling at her ability to look like a normal person, but right now there was no question. She looked like an assassin, from the alertness in her eyes to the gun tucked away in her belt. Everything about her reminded him that he still had a job to do. Now was their best chance to save the world. They had to take it.

"Hey, Y/N, we should head to the chapel now, the videos almost finished so we need to be ready to take his tentacles." Okuda called, she grinned at Karma and broke into a run, he readied himself. He had failed before, but the action was where he excelled, he couldn't afford to fail like he did in the midterms, he wouldn't allow himself to. Finding himself a water scooter, he attached the back of it to one of the walls of the chapel, getting ready for the signal. Maybe he wouldn't be the one to give the final blow, but at least he could do his part.

As the walls came apart and the rest of E class closed in on the octopus on their waterboards, Karma made sure to watch from a safe distance away, they had no idea what kind if explosion the octopus' death could cause. A wise decision on his part, as the rest of the class was blown away. He steered around and stopped next to where Y/N was treading water. He grabbed her wrist and pulled her up next to him,

"You ok?" She didn't seem to be injured, but you could never be too careful, she kept her gaze fixated on where their teacher had been just a few seconds ago,

"Even he can't survive that... right?" Her voice was quiet and he could visibly see her shivering, he took off his jacket and draped it around her shoulders, she hugged it closely around herself, the size of his making her seem comically small in comparison, with only a fraction of her face peeking out.

But they both weren't surprised when their teacher peeked out from beneath the still frothing waves, confined in a small ball,

"Hahahaha! Allow me, boys and girls, to introduce my ultimate defence form!"

His what?!!

After the explanation, Karma wasted no time in turning the situation to his advantage, pulling a sea slug out of nowhere, and forcing Koro-sensei to look at pictures of himself, revelling in the torment of his teacher. A shame he was the only one.

The mood was subdued after they all got back, they ate dinner as usual, but barely any of them dared speak, their failure making the atmosphere so dense you could cut it with a knife.

Y/N was used to failed attempts, that was why she always had multiple backup plans, but this kind of thing was just too unexpected, she may as well have prepared a backup plan for is a zombie apocalypse appeared, or the dinosaurs came back. However, she seemed to be the only one to notice this. The snipers were especially melancholy, not talking to anybody but each other, muttering quietly amongst themselves facing away from one another, after a while, the assassin got sick of it,

"Alright, that's enough!" She stood in front of the two and put her hands on her hips, "it's all well and good feeling sorry for yourselves, but you can't actually blame yourself for not knowing about the octopuses ultimate defence form!" All of a sudden her phone lit up, and a purple haired girl looking equally as depressed as the rest of then stated,

"Actually, if they had aimed slightly higher, or pulled the trigger a little faster, their chance of hitting Koro-sensei would have increased by 50%"

"Yeah, and if Harvey hadn't pressed the big red button he'd still have his right arm, and honestly? The crocodile was kinda easy to predict, this wasn't, so stop acting like it's the end of the world, because it's not yet. We still have over half a year to kill him." During her speech, the others had perked up, listening in, yet one thing piqued their interest the most,

"Hang on, your friend Harvey got his hand bitten off by a crocodile?" She rolled her eyes,

"Really? That's your takeaway?" Nakamura laughed, slinging her arm around the H/C girl,

"C'mon, I still owe you a drink" the bartender looked vaguely familiar, but Y/Ns concerns to his identity were completely forgotten about when she heard Nagisas voice,

"Nakamura! Are you ok?" She looked around to see the blonde lying on the floor, it seemed that within seconds she had gone from joking around to too tired to stand up anymore. And she wasn't the only one. Y/N finished her drink and immediately went to find Karasuma. He was in the middle of a phone call with someone, and he did not sound happy. When he ended the call, he turned to her,

"What's going on?" She wasn't sure if she wanted to know the answer, but she asked nonetheless,

"Whoever it is that did.... this," he gestured to the rest of the class, "wants the shortest girl and shortest boy in the class to bring the octopus to them, probably a rival assassin."

Rival assassin, as soon as the words were out of his mouth, it clicked. That was where she recognised the bartender from! She had worked with him many, many years ago, knowing that he was in their invisible enemies employment gave her a cold shiver down her spine. Smog had a nasty habit of poisoning people with incurable homemade concoctions, with a sadistic genius that rivalled Harvey. In fact he and Harvey had always been bitter rivals. Which meant that there was no chance that the drink he gave her was free from drugs. Walking away from the group briskly, she tried to contain herself, but her hands wouldn't stop shaking, despite her reputation, she had never had to directly confront another assassin, normally settling disputes by splitting the bounty or providing help for a reasonable fee.

"Y/N!" Okudas voice. She turned around to meet the other girls eye, "yeah?" It was odd, she couldn't remember a time when Okuda wasn't smiling at least a little bit, but right now she was dead serious,

"Y/N, I-I think you've been poisoned." She had assumed as much, but hearing the words come from another's mouth hit differently, but she couldn't leave E class alone against Smog, at best they would end up with lifelong poison-related illnesses.

"How many people have you told?" She kept her voice light and even, however badly she felt like she wanted to throw up,

"Just you, but-" good. Noone had to know

"Okuda?" Okuda looked confused, how could Y/N be so calm? "It'll take about an hour for the poison to kick in, even if I have been poisoned, so keep it to yourself, ok?"

"But-"

"Promise me." She kept her gaze strong, silently pressuring the other girl,

"Please, Y/N! You could die!" She smirked at this,

"If I do then that's my fault, I'll take responsibility for my own life, and if you think it's gone too far, then you can tell, ok?"

It wasn't ok. It was far from ok, but right now Okuda could see that Y/N wasn't about to back down,

".....ok"

A/N, I'm sorry this is late! I've just had loads going on in the way of school, friendship drama, and my mental health. thank you so much to everyone who's voted and commented! I try to respond to every one and it's amazing to know what you think of the story! Thank you and sorry again.
