ANGEL BY THE WINGS-061

"You found us, okay. Here we are." A woman with brown hair spoke, as Daryl pointed his crossbow at her and her friends.

He lost Kelly, Abraham, and Sasha after some fucker shot at them. Daryl had driven into the woods that looked like a was burnt. Burnt bodies were scattered throughout the woods as he stood in front of two women.

"We earned what we took."

A brach snapped making Daryl whip around but was hit in the face with something. He fell to the ground, his vision fared.

Later that night, Daryl woke up laying in front of three unknown people. Two women and a man, Daryl can faintly hear them talking as his vision and hearing slowly came back.

"Probably just another soldier....Probably hates him too."

Daryl faded in and out of consciousness, the people's voice echoed through his ears. He opened his eyes seeing someone was going through his bag.

"You know how to use one?" Someone says, holding up his crossbow.

"Yeah." A man's voice echoed. "Never liked using them to hurt."

The next time  he came out consciousness, he saw them gathered around each other as the man sharped something.

"We pick up Patty and we're gone, okay?" The man's voice echoed again. "This is the last day we gotta live like this."

Morning came, Daryl fully woke up. He went to move his hands, but something stopped him. His hands were tied together as the man crouched in front of him.

"Get up. Hey, get up." The man ordered, pointing his gun at Daryl. "We're moving. Here's the deal. You don't say shit and I won't kill you."

"I ain't who you think," Daryl spoke, causing the man to click his gun placing the barrel on his head.

"Say something else. Go ahead." The man growled.

Daryl didn't speak, his mind quickly going to his wife and son. He can't die and leave them. The man pulled him to his feet and pushed him towards the two women.

He got a good look at them, one woman had pixie-cut blonde hair and the other had brown hair pulled up in a ponytail.

"Follow them." The man said.

They walked through the woods, the brown-haired woman pulled out a half drank water bottle. She held it towards the pixie woman.
"Drink the rest."

"We should save it," Pixie says, looking at the bottle.

"We'll find some more. Drink. You're supposed to stay hydrated. It all works together."

Pixie nodded. "Yeah, it does."

She downed some of the water, before handing it back to her friend.

The dark haired woman glanced towards Daryl, holding out the bottle. He didn't take it causing the man to grab it.

"We don't need you falling down. Drink." Daryl stared at the man, before drinking the water. "They find us, maybe we give you to them, they let us call it even. You see, we're reasonable people. Everybody's got their code. You feel you gotta kneel, that's fair enough. We don't."

"Let's go," The man ordered, before shoving Daryl ahead.

All they walked, burnt bodies layed around the woods. They started talking about how they started the forest fire, burning all the walkers. The man needs to get a woman named Patty from their formal home.

Daryl looked around at the dozens of burnt bodies. "You did all this?"

"It was right at the start. Everything stopped—the TV, the radio. We were here. The forest was full of them. And the other ones in town, they were drawn to it They just walked right into the flames. We got most of them. Thought we ended it for us, and she was in DC. We thought everyone was fighting them wherever they were." The dark haired woman explained.

"Yeah, we thought that was what everybody was doing. Fighting it. That we'd all win together. We were stupid." The man  said, walking in front of Daryl.

Daryl stopped, glancing around at the bodies before looking at the man. "Y'all don't think you're being stupid right now?"

The three stopped and turned back towards Daryl. The man stepped towards him and pulled out his gun.

"Are you saying I should kill you? I mean it, are you gonna try and pull something on us? Are we just being thick here by not removing all doubt? Right now, by me not pulling this trigger, is that a mistake? I'm serious. I really wanna know. You made a choice to kill for someone else, to have them own you for a roof over your head and three squares, so maybe I'm not considering all aspects here. You tell me, am I being stupid?"

Daryl stayed quiet for a moment, before speaking. "No. Look, I got somewhere to be. We can make a deal. I can help you out."

"You're one of them. You're hurt and you're alone and you'd say anything. We should've never trusted you people, to begin with." The man says, motioning Daryl to go. "Go on. Keeping moving."

After walking further, they came to a clearing. The man shoved Daryl out of the tree line and into the clearing.

"Son of a bitch." The man cursed, looking at a fence.

Walkers littered the parking lot as the man, and the women walked over to the fence.

"Patty," The man muttered, looking through the walkers.

"She could be..." The dark haired woman started, but the man cut her off.

"No, she's gone," He said.

Daryl drowned out their conversation, glancing back and forth at the bag and forest. He needed to get back to wife and son and the group after trying to find Kelly, Abraham, and Sasha first.

Suddenly, Pixie collapsed giving Daryl the opening to escape. He quickly picked up the bag and ran into the forest. The man yelled after him, firing shots.

Daryl escaped, running through the woods before he tripped over a root, panting. He frantically tried untieing the rope on his hands, bitting at the rope and loosened it before getting assistance from the root. The rope slid for his hands, he quickly grabbed the walkie-talkie.

"Kelly, Sasha, Abraham, are you there?"

Nothing came through, only static. A snap a brach and a snarl of a walker, caused Daryl to whip around. A burnt walker stumbled out of the trees towards him. He panicked before fumbling with the bag trying to get his crossbow out.

Once the crossbow was out, Daryl turned and shot the walker in the head with a bolt. He panted as the walker fell to the ground with a thump. Something red caught Daryl's eyes, a cooler sat in the bag with big black letters.

Insulin. Must be kept cool.

Daryl felt dread flood him as he stared down at the cooler.

The redneck doubled back to the campsite with the bag around his shoulder and his crossbow at the ready. He knew that the people would go back to their camp as he neared the place he saw the three sitting on a log.

He aimed his crossbow at them. "Drop the gun. Drop it."

The man quickly stood and drew his gun, pointing it at Daryl as the dark haired woman placed an arm across Pixie's chest. The redneck stepped forewords, reaching out for the gun.

"Give it to me."

The man gave it to him, Daryl placed it in his waistline.

"I came all this way. What you got for the duffel? You put me through too much shit just to give it back. Principle of the thing. What you got besides this gun?"

"Nothing." Pixie said.

Daryl glanced at her and back to the man. "What was that thing you were carving?"

The Man pulled out a wood thing, it looked like it was carved to be Jesus.

"My grandmother taught me how-"

"Don't care. It'll do." Daryl interrupted before snatching the wood thing out of the man's hand. He placed in his pocket, before tossing the bag to him.
"Take it. It's all there."

The man grabbed it, tossing it back to women as Daryl gave them one last look, before turning around.

"Good luck. You're gonna need it."

He started walking away but stopped short when he heard trees snapping. A truck was driving through the trees, he quickly hides behind trees watching as the men got out of the truck.

"Let's end this." An unknown man called out.

"It's ours," The dark haired woman spoke as the men got closer. "We earned what we took."

"You're gonna return what you took. You're gonna pay for the gas it took to come out here and for all the time these men took out. It' over. You know the rules."

"Your rules are batshit!" The brunette woman shouted.

"We're not going back, Wade. We're dont kneeling!" The man added.

"Don't change the subject, asshole." The other man said before a whistle happened.

Whoever was in the truck revs the engine as the truck starts moving, making more trees to snap.  Daryl panicked and turned around seeing that he was surrounded.

He motioned the three to ran to the left, as Pixie fell.
"Go. Go."

He helped up Pixie as they ran through the trees as the truck gets closer, they hide behind a brunch of logs.

Daryl hands the man back the gun. "Hey. Take it."

The man took it and peers through the logs.

"Eyes open. You cover your quadrant. Go to alpha channel."

A different man walks through the trees as  some leaves ruffles causing the man to turn towards them. He walked towards them, when a walker that is stuck behind a border, grabs the man by the arm and bites him. The man let out a scream, hitting the walker on the head.

"Wade, I'm bit!" The man yelled, kneeling on the ground. Wade comes over and unbuckles his belt, tieing it around the man's arm. "Take it off. Do it! Just take it off!"

Wade takes out a large knife before clopping off the man's arm. The other man screamed, making the blonde man look away. Daryl peers around the tree, as Wade spoke into his walkie-talkie.

"All right, that's it. Time to go home. Cam got a boo-boo." Another man replied, but they couldn't hear. "Oh, yeah. He only wanted to take this so far. And he only wants ass that's willing, you know?" Wade spoke.

The brunette quickly unwrapped the med for Pixie as Wade took off Cam's watch, but tossing the limb behind him. "Come on, Cam. Let's walk it off." They walked off.

The blonde man turned towards Daryl. "We thought you were with them. We knock you over the hear, tie you up, threaten to kill you...why the hell did you come back?"

"Maybe I'm stupid, too."

***

Everything happened at once, Tina dying, she was bitten by the bodies. They had "woken" up and dragged Tina down. The walkers bit into her, causing Daryl to rush over and kill them, again.

Honey and Dwight turned on him and stole his bike and crossbow. Now Daryl was walking through the woods, trying to find his way out. He came to the walker with the helmet on that he fell next to.

Something  caught his eyes, he stepped towards and kneeled down. He dusted away some of the dirt, revealing a logo of some sort. He looked around before something behind braches caught his eyes.

He walked towards, pulling off leaves and revealed a van.

AA Patterick Fuel Company

He went to the driver's side and saw a walker inside. He got his knife ready and pulled open the door, the walker fell sideways reaching out of him. Daryl stabbed it in the head, before pulling out.

"Look at this," Abraham called, standing in front of the girls.

Kelly sat on the desk, she glanced at her friend who was wearing a military leader jacket. She smiled as he gave them a spin when a truck approached.

The blonde jumped off the deck and rushed towards the window with her gun to her chest. She stood next to Sasha as the red haired man glanced out the window. Kelly watched him smile, before looking at the girls. She peered out the window and saw Daryl.

The redneck drove down the road, Sasha sat in the middle while Kelly was next to the window. She glanced back at the redhead that was in the back with a smile.

"Rick, Lola, you copy?" Daryl spoke into the walkie-talkie. Nothing, but static came back. "Anybody?" The walkie hissing before a garbled voice, comes through. "Say it again?"

The walkie hisses again before a man's voice comes through.

"Help."
