I sighed as I watched couples pass by. It's Valentines Day and I'm sitting here on a bench alone, wallowing in my aloneness and cringing at the couples around me.
I hate Valentines Day.
"Why the long face, angel?" A voice asked.
I looked over seeing an unfamiliar man sitting next to me. I wasn't sure when or how he even got there. He's rather handsome. Much too handsome to be sitting next to me.
He had light pink hair and full lips. Multiple earrings dangled from his ears sparkling as the caught the light. He wore a long sleeved white shirt with flowing sleeves and small rhinestones on it. The shirt had three or four buttons undone exposing a good bit of his chest. He had these shiny leather pants on and sleek black boots.
"I'm guessing you're not a fan of Valentines Day." He said.
"Not really."
"Hm. Pity."
"Why?"
"It's a wonderful holiday. A day to celebrate love and show affection to the one you love." He smiled.
"Yeah well some of us don't have that."
"Ah. It makes sense now why you don't like Valentines Day."
"Who are you anyway?" I asked, realizing I'm talking to a complete stranger.
"Oh I'm so sorry. I'm Jimin." He grinned cheekily.
There's something about this Jimin guy that's a little different but I can't quite put my finger on it.
"Aren't you gonna tell me your name, beautiful?" He asked.
"Um." I was caught off guard by him calling me that. "I'm Y/n."
"Well, it's nice to meet you Y/n. Now tell me, would you like to find someone to spend your Valentines Day with?"
"It would be nice. Why are you asking?"
"Because sweetheart, I'm Cupid."
"What?" I asked.
He held his hand out, a small bow appearing. I saw a quiver strapped across his chest. He reached behind him and pulled an arrow out.
"Pick your guy." He grinned.
I was speechless. The Cupid is sitting right next to me and is telling me to pick any guy I want and make him fall for me.
"That's very kind of you, but I don't want a guy to forcibly fall in love with me. I want it to be natural." I said. "So, I'm gonna have to politely decline. Sorry."
Jimin's shiny puppy dog eyes widened.
"I've never heard anyone say that before."
"Really?"
"Yeah."
His bow and arrow disappeared.
"Well, my job here is done I suppose." He started to stand up.
"Wait!" I stopped him, not wanting him to leave. I was starting to enjoy his company. "Could you stay?"
"You want me to stay?" He asked.
"Mhm."
"Well, alright then." He sat back down beside me, a perplexed look on his face.
"Why do you look so confused?"
"Because no one ever asks me to stay. I give them what they want and I leave."
"That's... sad."
"I'm used to it. It's my job to make people fall in love, not to be their friend."
"Well, you can be my friend." I said.
"Huh?" A small blush crept onto his cheeks. "Really?"
I nod.
A bright smile took over his face, his eyes crinkling up, making small crescent shapes.
"So Jimin, what do you do when it's not Valentines Day?"
"Hang our at home." He shrugged.
"Oh! Where do you live?"
"Here in Seoul."
"You don't live up in the clouds or something?" I asked, surprised by his answer.
"No." He burst out laughing. "That's ridiculous."
"Hey don't laugh! How was I supposed to know?" I playfully shove him.
"You're right." He said trying to calm down his laughter. "Sorry."
I let him calm down before I spoke up.
"So you're pretty much a regular person every day except Valentines Day?"
"Sort of. I can still make people fall in love, but I don't have to if I don't want to. Valentines is the main day I work."
"Ah."
All this information is very interesting.
"So, what were your plans for today?" Jimin asked.
"Nothing really. I was gonna take myself out to dinner, and by that I mean I was gonna get takeout and eat at home."
Jimin chuckled at my response. "Why not treat yourself and go out to a nice place?" He questioned.
"And sit alone amongst all the couples? No thanks."
"You know, if you needed someone to accompany you... I'm free."
"You're offering to go out to dinner with me?"
"Of course. If you don't mind, that is."
"I..." My voice trailed off.
This extremely handsome man who just so happens to be Cupid wants to go out to dinner with me?
"Don't you have couples to make?" I asked.
"No. There's more than one Cupid you know."
"I don't."
"It's not just me. I could never make so many people fall in love by myself. It takes a whole team."
"Okay but won't you get in trouble for taking the night off?"
"Nah." He shrugged. "I've never done this before so I think I deserve a night off."
"Well... in that case I'd love to have you accompany me." I smiled softly.
"Perfect! Where to?"
"I'm not sure."
"Hey I know. There's a wonderful restaurant in town that serves only the best food. I've never been there before but I've heard a lot about it."
"Is it expensive?"
"I think so. It's really hard to get in, too."
"I don't want to go somewhere too fancy. Especially a place I can't afford."
"Don't worry about it." He beamed. "I got it covered."
"No-"
"It's fine. Don't worry about it." He ruffled my hair lightly. "What time should we go there?"
"I don't know." I pulled my phone out checking the time. "Well, it's 5:00 right now. How about 7:00? That way we both have time to get ready."
"Well, if we're meeting at 7:00 that means you've got a couple hours to get home and get yourself dolled up. Why don't I go ahead and walk you home?"
"Y-Yeah. Sure."
He's smooth.
We both stood up from the bench and left the park.
"You sure know how to make a girl swoon." I chuckled.
"Well... I am Cupid after all." He winked.
"Right." I nod, turning my head away to hide the blush on my cheeks.
"I know you're blushing."
"I'm not. It's just... cold."
"Right." He laughed.
"Anyway, why did you offer to go to dinner with me?" I asked, changing the subject.
"I couldn't just let you spend Valentines Day alone, could I?" He asked.
"I guess not."
I barely noticed the couples walking past us as we made our way down the street. With Jimin walking by my side, I didn't feel so left out.
"So, how far do you live from the park?" Jimin asked.
"Not far. We're almost to my place."
"Ah okay." He spoke casually but there seemed to be a hint of disappointment in his voice.
"By the way, how nice do I have to dress for this restaurant?"
"Nothing too fancy, but definitely dress for the occasion."
"Alright. Oh, here's my place." I pointed to my apartment building.
"Oh we're here already?" Jimin asked.
"Yeah I told you it wasn't that far."
"Okay well, I'll come back here and pick you up at 7:00. We should exchange numbers. I'd like to let you know I'm on my way before I show up."
Once again. So smooth.
We exchanged phone numbers before he reluctantly walked away. Part of me didn't want him to leave, even though I knew I'd be seeing him in a couple of hours.
When I got inside my apartment I started looking through my closet trying to figure out what I should wear. I don't care to wear dresses, but I suppose that's what I should wear. My eyes landed on a dress in the back of my closet. It's probably been in there for a year, the tag is still attached to the collar. I'm not sure why I even bought the dress. I guess I thought I'd have a use for it. Which, I do.
I smiled softly and pulled the dress out of the closet, removing the tag and laying it out on the bed. The dress was red, form fitting and went above the knee. It had a swooping neckline and long sleeves that got wider at the bottom. I have a small silver necklace my mom bought me that would pair wonderfully with the dress. I pulled a pair of black heels from my closet and set them beside the dress.
I stood in the bathroom, staring down at my makeup laid across the counter. I decided I should go light on the eye makeup, maybe go with a medium brown color and pair it with deep red lipstick. I'm not very good at styling my hair, but I curled it the best I could. I shook my hair a little trying to loosen the curls before spraying it.
I was ready to go just as Jimin sent me a text letting me know he was on his way. I set my phone down and glanced at my reflection in the mirror.
"Not bad." I mutter to myself.
It feels nice to dress up for once. I can't remember the last time I dressed up for someone. I couldn't seem to stop my heart from racing. I'm pretty excited to see Jimin again. It is a little strange that he's "Cupid" but I don't mind.
A few minutes passed by and I heard a small knock on the door.
"Ah." I jumped. "He's here."
I grabbed my purse and headed to the door trying to keep my composure. I smoothed out my dress and opened the door.
Jimin grinned as soon as he saw my face. His eyes shamelessly traveling down my body.
"You look really nice." He complimented, subtly biting his bottom lip.
"Thanks." I blush. "You look nice too."
He wore a tight fitting white turtleneck with a black suit jacket and dress pants. His hair was softly swept away from his face, his sharp brows and soft eyes on full display.
"Are you ready?" He asked, a soft smile on his full lips as he tilted his head to the side.
"Yes." I step outside into the hallway and close the door to my apartment, making sure to lock it before leaving.
When we get to the front of my apartment building I see a dark red car parked on the curb.
"Is that yours?" I ask breathlessly.
"Sure is." Jimin grinned, pulling a set of keys from his pocket. "C'mon."
Jimin opened the car door for me and let me get in first. I buckled up and looked around at the sleek, leather interior or the vehicle.
"It's nice right?" Jimin asked as he got situated.
"Very."
"Hey Y/n?"
"Yes?"
"You really do look nice tonight. Very beautiful."
I couldn't help but get flustered by his compliment.
"Thank you."

We pulled up to the restaurant and headed inside. A woman at the front desk greeted us with a smile.
"Hello. Table for two?"
"Yes please."
The lady took us to a table beside one of the windows and placed a menu in front of us.
"Your server will be with you shortly."
Jimin and I thanked her before she walked away.
I picked up the menu and started looking through it. Most of these dishes had fancy names on the menu that I had never heard of before.
"So, what looks good?" Jimin asked.
"Honestly, I'm not sure. It's all pretty pricey."
"Hey. I told you not to worry about it."
"Okay." I nod.
"I'll ask again. What looks good?"
"I mean, the lobster tail seems nice."
"Then order it." He smiled. "I think I might get the same thing."
Our waitress came by and took our orders. She asked what drinks we would like, but before I could answer, Jimin asked for their best champagne.
"Jimin. You're driving." I whispered after the waitress walked away.
"Y/n, if there's one thing you should know about me it's that I can handle my alcohol very well."
"Alright. You'd better not drink much."
"Just one glass. I promise. And if you don't feel comfortable with me driving, I could always fly you home." He winked.
"What?" I chuckled. "What do you mean by that?"
"You don't think Cupids have wings?" He asked.
"Don't mess with me Jimin."
"I'm not."
"You really have wings?"
"Yes. But it's a secret." He winked.
Our waitress came back with the champagne and poured us both a glass.
"Cheers." Jimin held his glass up.
"Cheers." I lightly clinked my glass with his.

Dinner was amazing. It was so easy to talk to Jimin. He was just comfortable to be around. When the end of the night came I found myself wanting to spend more time with him.
Jimin walked me to my apartment, both of us standing awkwardly in the hallway.
"Do you wanna come inside?" I asked.
"Sure."
I unlocked the door and stepped inside, kicking my heels off onto the living room floor.
I took a seat on the couch, patting the empty spot next to me.
"Tonight was amazing. Thank you." I turned towards Jimin.
"You're welcome. I had a lot of fun."
We sit there for a moment until Jimin speaks up.
"Why exactly do you hate Valentines Day?" He asked. "You don't have to answer if you're not comfortable."
"No it's fine. I don't mind answering." I took a deep breath. "I had a bad relationship once and after that I decided that I would just wait for the right person instead of seeking out a boyfriend."
"Can I say something and it not be weird?"
"Sure."
"Out of all the people I've encountered, you're the most interesting one. I've never met someone who I was so drawn to before. Usually I talk to the person for a moment, shoot whoever they want with an arrow, and that's that. But from the moment I saw you I could tell something was different. I didn't want to shoot anyone for you, so when you said you would pass up the offer, it made me kind of happy."
"So, what exactly are you trying to say?" I asked, my heart racing.
"I'm trying to say that I like you. You're absolutely stunning and I can't seem to want to leave your side. When I dropped you off at your house today, it hurt to leave you even though I knew I'd see you tonight." He let out a short laugh. "It's crazy, I feel like I'm the one who's been shot with an arrow."
"That... is the nicest thing any guy has ever said to me. That's not saying much though, I haven't been in many relationships."
"That's okay. I'll take it."
I unconsciously scooted closer to him, my eyes drifting down to his full lips. I looked up at him, seeing his eyes staring down at my lips. Instead of waiting for him to kiss me, I initiated the kiss, leaning in eagerly pressing my lips against his. One of his hands moved to rest on my waist while the other one cupped my cheek. Jimin moved closer, tilting his head to the side, making the kiss more passionate. His lips worked wonders against mine as he softly kissed me.
I don't know how long we stayed like that, but when he pulled away we were both trying catching our breath.
"Is this real?" I asked.
"I was asking myself the same question."
I looked at him, his lips looking fuller than usual thanks to our little makeout session.
"Jimin I have a question."
"Mhm?" He hummed, playing with a strand of my hair.
"You said you had wings. Can you... show me them?"
"You really wanna see them?"
I nodded eagerly.
"Okay." He stood up, pulling off his jacket.
I couldn't help but blush.
He started taking off his turtleneck, pulling it off and tossing it on the couch.
The blush on my cheeks deepened as I saw his toned body.
"You're already blushing." He smirked.
"H-Hey. No I wasn't." I looked away.
He let out a small chuckle.
"Are you gonna look or not?" He asked.
I looked up, a small gasp leaving my mouth as I saw a pair of pale pink wings now adorning Jimin's back. I assumed they would be small, dainty wings but they were almost as big as Jimin.
"Well?" He asked expectantly.
"They're beautiful." My eyes winded as I noticed small flecks of glitter on his wings.
I stood up and walked closer to him. "Can I touch them?"
He nodded.
I slowly reached my hand out, my fingertips brushing across the soft feathers. Jimin seemed to get shy being stared at for so long. A small blush crept onto his cheeks.
"Jimin. You're absolutely stunning."
"I'm just me." He shrugged.
"No. You're Cupid."
That made him giggle.
"Can I see you again after today?" I asked.
"Of course."
"Are there not rules that Cupids can't date humans?"
"No. But if there were, I'd break the rules just for you." He grinned mischievously, his arms snaking around my waist.
My hands rested on his cheeks admiring his features.
"I don't want you leave." I muttered quietly.
"Then I won't."

Happy Valentines Day! I hate this holiday with a passion but at least I get to write cute imagines. I had to postpone updating because I was busy but you know it ended up working out because it's Valentines Day!
