After their breakfast were done, Shana sent off Shin and Iris. Shin had a meeting with Fortuneprise regarding the business on the Obnova flower he wanted to sell, and Iris is accompanying him. As for Shana, she had stayed behind to have a talk with Layla. At the same time, it was to let Iris have Shin all to herself. It was an apology to last night's occurrence. So Shana wasn't all that unhappy.
As Shin and Iris left the mansion, Shana proceeded to the meeting room in the mansion. When she entered, Layla was inside sitting on one of the sofa. She was instructed to come here by Shana. Since Layla was curious about a lot of things, she didn't object to her summon.
Shana sat on the opposite sofa and spoke.
"Now, ask me anything you want." <Shana>
With that question, Layla asked the first thing she wanted to know.
"This mark, what is it actually? I've been told that it isn't a slave mark. Then what is it? As much as I want to believe him, I can feel magic coming from it. He never told me so I still don't know what this mark does. You should know then?" <Layla>
"From the looks, it's a mark to tell others that you belong to Shin. That he gives only to the people he considered his wives." <Shana>
"Iris already told me that. What I wanna know is what does it do? It isn't just for show, right?" <Layla>
"Haah... No, it isn't. The main purpose for it is protection." <Shana>
"What? Protection? From what?" <Layla>
"Put in simple terms, you won't get hurt as long as you have that mark. It's a unique ability of Shin's. Also another purpose for it is communication among anyone who has it." <Shana>
Layla was amaze that this simple looking mark holds such amazing abilities.
"Okay, I understand. Then, next question. Who is he exactly? To be able to acquire such a high Power Level. He isn't just an ordinary human, is he? He must have done something to get that strong. Do you know anything about it?" <Layla>
Layla looked at Shana curiously. Waiting for her answer.
"You have the right to know everything now. So I will tell you. Let's start off from where Shin and I are from." <Shana>
"From?" <Layla>
Layla got suspicious at those words.
"You should already know that Iris is an elf. She's from the elf village in Natura Forest." <Shana>
Layla gave a nod, signifying she already knew that much.
"As for Shin, he's from another world. " <Shana>
"Huh?" <Layla>
Layla expected to hear an incredible story of how Shin became strong. But what she got was totally different. She was dumbfounded.
"From another world? Where?" <Layla>
"I don't know how else to explain that other than a world similar to this, but different timeline and cultures." <Shana>
"If what you say is true, that he's from another world, then how did he get here? Was he summoned by someone?" <Layla>
"The answer to that, is where I come in. I'm the one who summoned him here. Or you could say I brought him here." <Shana>
Layla was very surprised with what she is hearing. Every answers she received are too overwhelming to comprehend. And it seems that such feelings are just going to continue piling up.
"Who are you? Are you some kind of sage, who can use a high level magic such as summoning? Don't tell me you're stronger than him!?" <Layla>
"Stronger than Shin? Maybe. As for whether I'm a sage, that's not the case. I'm a more greater being than that." <Shana>
Layla was making a doubtful look. She can't think of anything that can be greater than a sage. But to her surprise, there seems to be.
"I'm a goddess. The goddess of desires." <Shana>
"Wha-!?" <Layla>
"Since you're from this world, you should be familiar with that being." <Shana>
Compared to everything she heard previously, this was the most hardest to believe in.
Yes, it's true that she knows who and what the goddess of desires is. She was taught of such history and story since she was young. It was something that almost all existence in this world, that has the ability to understand, knows about. Such goddess was respected and worshipped by all of them. She was spread by the Serised Church for everyone to learn. And for such an almighty being to be right in front of her, Layla thought it was ridiculous.
"What makes you think that I-" <Layla>
"As expected, you don't believe me." <Shana>
Layla was cut off by Shana's words.
"Why don't I show you a special place?" <Shana>
"Wha-?" <layla>
Without any warning, Layla's vision blurred. When she regain her sight, all she could see was white everywhere.
"Where am I!?" <Layla>
Layla was very shocked at the sudden occurrence. To answer her question was Shana, who's figure slowly appeared in front of her.
"Relax. This is the spiritual realm. A place only divine beings can access. This should somewhat proof I'm indeed a goddess, right?" <Shana>
Layla finally calmed down after seeing Shana.
"Maybe. But this could also be an illusion, right? How can I be sure?" <Layla>
"Haah... Unlike Shin who can use the adventurer ID card to proof himself, I can't. No matter what, I have to hide my identity as a goddess. With that said, it's up to you to truly believe me or not. I don't really care." <Shana>
"Does Shin knows about you?" <Layla>
"Of course! I was the one who summoned him after all." <Shana>
Layla slowly became less wary.
"Alright. I will trust you as much as he does. I don't want to make the same mistake as yesterday. That's why, I hope we can get along." <Layla>
"Naturally. We are both Shin's wives after all." <Shana>
Shana then returned both of them back to the real world. After that, Layla continued giving more questions to Shana.
"Can I ask why you summoned him? Was there a reason?" <Layla>
Layla asked this question because she thought maybe it was because Shana summoned Shin into this world as a hero. She read storybooks about people who were summoned from another world as a hero in order to defeat an evil entity. That hero will then go on a journey to become stronger, and eventually defeat the evil entity.
In this case, Shin was the hero being summoned, and since there's a threat in the Demon country, he is here for that purpose. She had such expectation that it was exactly like that, however the answer she got was nothing of sorts.
"There wasn't any important reasons. I was just interested in him. As a goddess of desires, I can see people's desires. Shin in particular had a tremendous amount of desires as compared to others. And because of that, I summoned him to my spiritual realm similar to earlier. After that, I granted some of his desires which one of them was to go to another world. Resulting in him being here now. That's mostly what happened. " <Shana>
"T-Then you didn't summon him here so that he can become a hero? And defeat an evil entity or something like that?" <Layla>
To Layla's very curious questions, Shana answered truthfully.
"None of that. I brought him to this world purely because he wanted to. There was no other reasons." <Shana>
"Why...?" <Layla>
Layla asked with an irritated tone. She had really wanted to believe that such a story-like situation did happen. But it was nothing like that. It was like the goddess which was worshipped by everyone, decided to summon a super strong individual only on a wimp. She was infuriated thinking about it.
There was already an evil entity that is existing just like in the storybook, so it should be natural for a hero to exist as well. Sadly, stories will remain a story. Layla thought that her revenge would be guranteed if such a hero existed. However, reality wasn't that nice. The little hope that grew inside Layla collapsed in one go.
"Why, what?" <Shana>
Shana was totally clueless as to why Layla asked that.
"Why are you saying like as if there's nothing wrong with this world!? Don't you know that there's an evil entity laying in wait in the Demon country? Waiting for the right time to cause chaos to the world? You're a goddess after all! You should have foreseen this to happen. Therefore, you must have thought of a plan to stop such chaos from happening!" <Layla>
Layla let out all the anger that was built inside her. Thinking that more people who might get hurt because of 'her' really troubles Layla. Her father was one of the victim to have fallen by 'her'. Her revenge for her father's death was all she desired.
"I think you are misunderstanding something here. Or more like everyone in this world was fooled by that Satoshi." <Shana>
Despite Layla bursting in anger, Shana just calmly gave her reply, as if everything Layla said meant nothing to her. And it definitely was the case.
"What do you mean misunderstanding? And what nonsense are you saying? Fooled by Satoshi-Sama? You're saying he lied?" <Layla>
Layla didn't understand what Shana was talking about.
"First of all, Satoshi was also someone I brought to this world. He was the first one in fact. Second, whatever nonsense he spouted about me, was just his own imagination. He must have spread that I bless this world or whatever, but in actuality that was never the case. Satoshi must have used my name to spread his influence and teachings. I may be a goddess, but my connection to this world is close to zero. This is my first time in this world along with Shin. Whatever that's been going on in this world, I'm oblivious to them. That is what I meant by being fooled. Even I was surprised when I first came here, and then hearing I was worshipped." <Shana>
Layla was at a loss for words. She couldn't grasp what she is hearing.
"You're saying the Serised church spreads false beliefs?" <Layla>
"Yes." <Shana>
"And everyone in this world are being fooled to believe in such a goddess?" <Layla>
"That's a bit harsh, but it's true." <Shana>
"..." <Layla>
Layla had trouble accepting it. Though she wasn't that much influenced in such faith, the fact that it was something that everyone in this world believes in, it was hard to swallow. She knew that there are those that have strong belief in the goddess, that the Serised church was established upon. If people knew this, a mayhem will occur. Even she herself have conflicted feelings. Part of her had faith in the goddess that she will send help to stop 'her'. Layla got slightly depressed that her hopes for revenge won't be achieved any time soon.
Sensing that Layla was troubled by this dact, Shana tried to cheer her up.
"Cheer up. Don't get depress over this matter. You shouldn't put all your faith into such belief. Sometimes you got to believe in yourself. You can't have everything decided by a deity." <Shana>
"I know... Its just, if a goddess never existed to observe the situation of this world, then how would people be able to stop an evil entity from causing destruction to the world?" <Layla>
"I understand your worries. But right now, if there's one person who can stop such destruction, wouldn't it be Shin? If it's a request from his wives, he will gladly do it." <Shana>
Hearing Shana say that was very convincing. She had already thought of it, but the only thing stopping her was a doubt that he wouldn't.
"Can you ask him? It's a very difficult thing to do, I don't know if he will agree to the words of someone he just met. If it's you, he will definitely do it." <Layla>
"That won't do. You are already his wife, don't degrade his trust by avoiding it. Instead of thinking whether he will or will not do it, it's better to think of how he will do it. Shin will definitely be happy if his wives rely on him. I'm certain." <Shana>
Layla still was doubtful if Shin will listen. But since Shana says that he will regardless, Layla decided to give it a try. She already told herself to trust him.
"...Alright. I'll ask him when he returns. " <Layla>
Shana was very satisfied on how this talk went. She began thinking of how Shin should repay her. Her face slowly lightened up into excitement.
Layla was also feeling excited to see Shin later. Oblivious to her, her feelings for him slowly developed.
The two remained talking with one another. But now the important talk had changed into a girls talk. And their topic was undoubtedly Shin.
