Part 1: The Feels In The Stars
"You owe me ten bucks!" Marie yelled as she ran over to the spot in the beach I was sittin at.
I covered my eyes from the sun and watched as my new blonde friend sat down next to me in the sand. "She really said yes?" I asked confused and suprsied at the same time.
"Yup!" Marie said and laughed. I saw Bobby walking over with a smug look and a piece of paper in his hand. Holy shit!
"She said yes!" I yelled.
"Yup." Bobby said sitting next to Marie who couldn't stop laughing. He pushed her making her bump into me. "What's so funny Blondie?"
"That fact that girl actually agreed to give you her number!" Marie said now red because she couldn't stop laughing.
"So when are you going to call her?" I asked excitedly.
"I'm not." Bobby said with a smile.
"She's going to call you?" I asked.
"Nope." Bobby said still smiling.
Marie finally stopped laughing and we shared a confused look.
"So how are you suppose to go out on a date if neither of you call each other?" Marie asked him as she let her hair fall loose past her shoulders.
"She gave me her number but I'm not calling her." Bobby said.
"Why?" I demanded. "You've been hitting on girls since we got here and one finally gives you her number and you aren't going to call?"
"After Marie ran off to tell you she had given me her number she said some really mean things about Marie. Then she asked me if I knew the pink haired girl and before I could even answer she started saying really rude and mean things about you." Bobby said. "She was hot but that doesn't matter if she's a bitch who talks crap about people she doesn't know. I'm not going out with someone like her."
"Aww!" I said standing and going to hug my brother. "You're so nice Bobbykins!"
"Yeah. Yeah. Because of the fact that I'm so nice I'm dateless still." He said pouting.
"How about the three of us go to the movies?" Marie asked. "My treat since you're actually a nice guy."
"Okay!" Bobby said then turned to me. "Where's Emilie? I haven't seen her in three days."
I smiled. "Still looking for that guy who kissed her at Jennifer's party. She's going crazy not knowing who it is and it's actually pretty amusing." I said and looked at my brother suspiciously since he was smirking. "You know something. Bobby what do you know?" I demanded.
"I promised I wouldn't say a thing." Bobby said.
"But I'm you're sister!" I exclaimed.
"Yeah and he's my friend." Bobby said and stood up.
"Since when do you have friends?" I asked confused.
"Ouch."
I rolled my eyes. "You know what I mean. Since when do you know anyone around here that isn't Dillon, Marie, or Charlie?"
"Do you honestly think I actually go to sleep every night at nine?" He asked.
"You sneak out at night!" I yelled.
He nodded.
I slapped his arm. "You are a bad brother! How come you hadn't told me and haven't taken me with you?" I demanded.
He pretended to zip his lips shut and that earned him another hit.
"I've seen him out and about after midnight." Marie said and laughed at my shocked face.
"Traitor!" I yelled and stormed off to the house.
"Lolly!" Marie yelled and was laughing along with Bobby.
"I don't speak to people who go have fun without me and to people who knew the other person was having fun without me!" I yelled not even looking back as i opened the backyard door. I heard them laugh once more before I walked into the backyard.
I found Dexter and Cynthia snogging meanwhile Charlie was crying. Yes, Charlie Hailwood was crying.
"Ew Dexter can you and the witch go do that somewhere else? You know what don't. I don't want her getting pregnant so you feel like you have to marry her." I said giving them a tight smile.
Cynthia looked like she wanted to say something but kept her mouth shut. Dexter in the other hand just shook his head at me but I knew he wasn't mad. He knows I'm trying my best not to kill Cynthia.
"Charlie why are you crying?" I asked him as I sat next to him in the small bench.
He looked up at me with red eyes and he looked like he wanted to start full on sobbing. He just held up the thing in his lap and i understood what was going on immediatly. I put an arm around him trying to comfort him somehow knowing full well things weren't going to get better. Poor Charlie was reading The Fault In Our Stars.
"There. There." I said hugging him.
"He's been like that for the last half hour." Dexter said. "He just sits there and stares at that god damned book and cries. I don't even think he's to the worst part yet."
Charlie cried harder.
"Shut up Dexter you're upsetting him." I said glaring at my brother who looked surprised.
He smirked. "Since when are you on Charlie's side on anything? I thought you hated him." He said.
"Since he's reading one of the top most heartbreaking books in existence." I said then turned back to Charlie. I continued hugging him as he relaxed and his crying minimized.
After awhile Dexter stood up and said he would be right back. Apparently Dillon was out front and Snowflake was running loose down the street. He needs help to catch him and I would have gone since dogs listen to me but Charlie won't let go of me now. Plus I don't think I could have the heart to leave poor Charlie here. I mean he's crying, over a book, and I think that's god dam amazing. He's a fanboy!
"Are you better now Charliekins?" I asked after he had stopped crying and was just sniffling.
"I can't believe I just cried that much and you saw. I feel like such a fool right now. You probably think I'm stupid or something don't ya?"
I laughed and ran my hand through his hair like it was the most normal thing. "It's fine. Believe me I cried for the ending half of the book so much. What part are you on?" I asked as he pulled away blushing.
"The eulogy." He said and I cringed.
"What?" He asked worried.
"How about I stay here with you until you finish the book. I think you're going to need a shoulder to cry on again soon." I said sadly.
"That bad?" He asked surprised.
I nodded.
"Does it have a happy ending?" He asked.
"Depends how you look at it but not really."
"Aren't books suppose to have happy endings? Who is this John Green that decides to write amazing books with heartbreaking endings?" Charlie complained and I just laughed.
"He's an amazing author who I wish to meet one day." I said as rested my head on his shoulder. "I guess the ending is happy in a way but it's also sad. It's a sad but perfect ending I guess and it's realistic. How about we talk about the ending once you're done?"
He smiled and twirled a strand of my hair in his finger. "Deal." He said.
"How long have you two been dating?" Cynthia asked. I could tell Charlie had forgotten she was here and truthfully so had I.
"We're not dating." I said looking at her but not taking my head off Charlie's shoulder.
She laughed. "That's not what it looks like." She said looking at Charlie still playing with my hair. "It looks like you two have been dating for awhile. It's all over the gossip magazines as well. They all want to know who was the girl Charlie Hailwood was seen with in Jennifer's birthday bash red carpet. By the way you two interact I can tell there's something going on between you two." She smirked. "Does Dexter know you're hooking up with his best friend?"
"What are you assuming?" I asked trying to keep calm.
"I find it funny you call me a slut and a whore when you're friends with benefits with your brother's best friend." Cynthia said smiling. "Looks like there's only one whore here and it isn't me."
"How am I a whore?" I asked trying to not show her words are affecting me.
"You're hooking up with that friend of yours...what's his name?" She thought about it for a few seconds. "Xander! There you go. You're hooking up with him as well but you're not dating him. I've heard you two talking on the phone and seen you on Skype with him. There is no way a guy like him could actually want to be friends with you if you weren't giving him something back. Have you looked at yourself Lolly? You're no model or close to looking as good as anyone famous. You're plain and boring and Charlie wouldn't be being so kind to you if-"
"That's enough Cynthia." Charlie snapped completely losing his cool. His voice was sharp and threatening and I knew that if it weren't for the fact I was leaning on him he would have stood up and walked over to her.
Cynthia looked scared and startled. She looked quite surprised Charlie has been the one to snap instead of me. I don't think she ever thought it would be him.
"Stop saying all those untrue things about Lolly. She's kind and friendly unlike you. She's absolutely not a slut or a whore and we aren't hooking up behind anyone's back. She doesn't rely on makeup and all that shit to look beautiful because she's confident and knows she already is. She's unique and adventurous and she's incredibly amazing in her own weird way." Charlie said. "She's not like you. We can actually be friends without needing to start making out. And so what if I might start developing feelings for her? What guy wouldn't want a girl like her in his life? So stop trying to upset Lolly or I will make sure Dexter and the whole world sees you for what you truly are. You're career will crumble into pieces."
And that ladies and gentlemen is why Charlie Hailwood just earned my complete respect. He knew Cynthia was getting to me with her venomous words and he stood up for me. He made me feel like someone special again.
"Whatever. You'll both regret being mean to me one day." She said standing up and walking into the house.
"Wow." I said after awhile. "That was intense."
"You shouldn't believe what she says." Charlie said in a low voice. It was the complete opposite to the voice he had just used on Cynthia. "You're amazing Lolly. Don't forget that."
"I didn't believe anything she was-"
He somehow knew it was a lie and interrupted me. "I could feel you tensing and I saw your face. You were believing some of the things she was saying." He said. "You shouldn't do that. She's not worth your time and she just wants to make you feel bad. Don't give her the satisfaction."
I smiled. "You're really are a great guy Charlie. I'm sorry I was a bit rude and mean at first." I said apologizing for my behavior when we first met. "I know I'm childish and that can get annoying. I'm sorry for everything I said and for filling your guest room with wrappers. Well that was Bobby actually but I was still in on it. I don't understand why you didn't just ignore me and stop trying to be my friend."
"You're fascinating." Charlie said. "Since the moment I first met you in that diner you intrigued me. I had never met someone quite like you and you were fascinating. I saw the book in your hand and I knew you loved to read and you were annoyed by me."
We sat there in silence for awhile. The book forgotten on his lap and he continued to play with my hair. Cynthia was right though, Charlie and I don't act like we're just friends. Sitting here with him is proof of that, but I don't think either of us knows what exactly is going on between us yet. Until I figure out what exactly this is I won't mention it. It's not that important anyway.
"Are you going to finish the book?" I asked him.
"Oh...yeah." He said. "Are you really staying here with me until I finish?" He asked when I made no move to leave.
"Yep. You'll need me when you finish it." I said smiling and taking my head off his shoulder. He let go of my hair and picked up his book again and started reading.
It was really fascinating to watch Charlie read. I could see the emotions in his face as he read and he was really attached to the book. The poor guy was going to cry when he gets to the last words.
I sat here, next to him, for the next two hours or so. He would constantly sniffle but I could tell he was trying to keep the tears in. Bobby and Marie never called or texted so I was guessing they went to watch the movie on their own. I didn't mind though since I was watching the most rarest of all creatures.
The fanboy.

"I can't believe it." Charlie said for what felt like the millionth time. "That ending was..."
"I know." I said smiling.
"But...I can't believe it." Charlie said. "He saw her at the hospital and he knew...he knew what was going to happen to him. The letter was just...wow."
"Yup." I said.
Charlie and I discussed the ending for awhile. He had cried for who knows how long after he finished the book. I off course just hugged him because there was nothing I could do to take the pain away. In the word of John Green: Pain demands to be felt.
We were now laying on the grass looking up at the night sky. How ironic Charlie had just finished a book called The Fault In Our Stars and now we were looking up at the stars. We didn't really care about the time or anything right now as we stared up at the stars, laying next to each other.
"Aren't they beautiful?" Charlie asked.
"Yes, they are." I said.
There were no words needed to explain how we felt. I'm talking about how we felt about the book. We both loved it and I have never seen a guy cry that much over the ending.
Dexter and Cynthia never came back. Bobby never walked through the back door which meant he was either in the house already or driving around. I didn't really care about anything else right now but the stars. I couldn't stop looking at them and their beauty. It was mesmerizing.
"I feel..."
"What?" I asked Charlie.
I turned and looked at him looking at me. He just smiled as he looked at me and grabbed my hand that was laying next to him in the grass.
"I feel happy." He said letting out a sigh of relief. "I feel incredible happy."
So that's how Charlie and I spent most of our night. We laid there talking and then not talking for no reason. We just didn't want to talk.
We just looked up at the stars.
