Emma's P.O.V

I heard Hershel going around shutting everyone's doors. I know what its for, just so if someone turns, they can't get out and attack anyone. With everyone's door he shut, he told them all something different, although, it always ended the same, "I'll be back in an hour."

A man fell to the floor and began seizing and chocking on his own blood. As this happened, everyone began coming out of their cells.

He died, chocking on a combination of his own blood and mucus.

Hershel picked up his knife, he noticed everyone was looking at him and he couldn't do it. I personally think it was a combination of everyone looking at him and just not having done it yet.

I stayed at my spot on the floor next to my mom's cell.

"Everyone, get back in your cells." Hershel said. No one listened. "Go on, get back in your cells." He said once more. Again no one listened.

Sasha went and got a gurney. "Come on, lets get him on this." She said.

'I've had reports of it happening in as little as two minutes to as long as eight hours.' Played over in my head, from way back at the C.D.C with Dr. Jenner. What if he's one of those two minute cases, what if it happens quicker?

I decided to take matters into my own hands.

I got up, grabbed my knife, and stabbed the already dead man in the head.

"He warned you to get back into your cells. He's been trying to hide it from you guys... but truth is, I know you guys aren't stupid. You all know what happens... whether you've seen it or not remains a mystery to me... but this is the world we live in now, and we're gonna have to learn to accept it. We can't hide from it, not if we're gonna survive. I'm done trying to hide it, its just a matter of life now whether you want to accept it or not." I said and walked back to where I was sitting.

Hershel took the man out and I began to go around and apologize to everyone for what they had just seen.

Hershel's P.O.V

After Emma took out that man, I went and took him out of the cell block. Sasha helped me get him onto the gurney.

While I was out there, Rick saw me. We had a small talk, what he said really motivated me to keep going.

When I walked back in, I noticed Sasha had passed out on the floor so I immediately went to her and began looking at her.

When I did that, I completely neglected everyone else. I knew Emma was in no shape to do anything right now, she's a short fuse, it's not a good idea. So, I figured it was best to tend to everything myself.

Rick's P.O.V

Maggie and I were putting wooden posts up against the fence where the hoard of walkers are.

"I just talked to your dad... He looks good, all things considered." I said.

"If Carl were sick would you be up there with him?" She asked, completely avoiding my comment.

"If I thought I could help." I replied.

"You don't think I can help?" She asked.

Before I could answer a walker on the ground reached through the fence, grabbed my ankle, and pulled me to the ground.

Maggie, thinking quickly, grabbed an axe and cut off its hand.

"I'm just glad you're out here with me." I finally answered.

Emma's P.O.V

I was almost finished going to everyone and apologizing but there were two people that I dreaded going to: Emily and Taylor.

I decided I'd make this easy on myself and get the rudest one out of the way first, so, I walked into the door way of Emily's room.

"Hey, Emily." I said.

She looked over to me.

"Have you ever seen a walker killed?" I began.

"Emma, I know you're in here to apologize and really theres no need to. What you said afterwards was right it is just a fact of life now. Plus, if theres anyone here who deserves an apology, its you. All the things I've done, all the things I've called you just because I was jealous and you still got me whatever I needed or wanted. I guess what I'm really trying to say here is, I'm sorry." She said.

"Thank you, and don't worry about it. It's all good." I said.

"Can we just be friends now?" She asked.

"Definitely." I said smiling for the first time since my mom died.

I walked out leaving her to rest, now if the conversation with Taylor can go just as good as this one, that would be great.

I walked into Taylor's cell.

"You've seen those things killed before today though, right?" I asked.

She nodded. "I know you've been going around apologizing to everyone. After that and all the stuff Emily and I have put you through, you don't have to say anything to me, but I do want you to listen to this. Now, I have been planning to do this since yesterday when we first came in here. I'm really sorry for all the things I've done and said to you or about you. You didn't deserve any of them and I really hope you can forgive me and eventually be a friend of mine." She said.

"No worries, everythings all good, and yes, we should definitely be friends now." I laughed and walked out.

I really didn't want to forgive them that easily. Not with everything that they've done, or said. I just figure, if we're going to be living with one another, that we should all get along. The thought of being their friends kinda makes me uncomfortable for some reason, but for now I'm just gonna go with it and hope that they keep their word and don't switch it up.

On the other side of the prison I heard Glenn begin trying to shout for Hershel. He tried twice before I heard him start having a coughing attack.

"Hershel!!!" I shouted at him while running towards him.

He turned to face me really fast.

"Go. Its Glenn. I'll finish up here." I said.

He took off the minute I said it was Glenn. I know he thinks of Glenn as a son, after all, Glenn is practically his son-in-law.

I heard Lizzie shouting for Hershel from the same general area as Glenn. As Hershel was on his way, a walker came up and attacked him.

I dropped all I was doing and ran over to him. I felt my holster and realized I had left my knife somewhere.

I went over to him and kicked the walker off of him.

Hershel ordered everyone to stay in their cells.

I kicked the walker off but it wasn't far enough.

Someone had came out of their cell with a gun and another came up behind the walker and tried to take it down.

Behind the man with a gun came someone who had turned to a walker out of the cell next to his.  The walker bit the mans arm that was holding the gun, causing him to fire. The bullet hit the women in the chest and she fell to the floor.

Hershel had stood up on his own. "Hershel, go help Glenn. I'll take care of whatever is going on down here." I said.

As the man with the gun was being devoured alive by a walker he was still firing his gun recklessly. As he was shooting off into no where, he hit me in the thigh of my right leg. I took the bandana off my head, that used to be my mask, and wrapped it around my thigh. I was doing my best not to think about the pain in my thigh.

I limped  over to where my knife was, which was by my mom's old cell, as fast as I could and I picked it up.

I hurried to the man with the gun and the walker on his neck and I stabbed the walker in the head.

"I'm sorry." I whispered before stabbing him in the base of his skull, thus ending his suffering.

Hershel still hasn't gone off to Glenn.

He was in shock, it was clear in his face.

He looked from the walker that originally attacked him to upstairs where Lizzie was guiding a walker-fied Henry away from Glenn's cell.

I limped over to the walker that originally attacked Hershel and stabbed it in the head.

"Hershel! Go! Get to Glenn!" I shouted clearly worked up.

I then walked over to the woman who pulled the walker off of Hershel. She was losing blood fast so I grabbed the blanket off her bed and was about to apply pressure to her wound, but she stopped me.

"No. Theres no way he'll be able to help me." She said.

"You know what this means, right?" I asked.

She nodded with a tear rolling down her cheek.

"I'm sorry." I whispered once more before stabbing her in the base of the skull.

Carl's P.O.V

I heard my dad calling for me again, after gunshots were fired."Carl..? Carl..? Carl." He whispered.

"I heard gunshots." I said as I rounded the corner.

"I need your help." He said completely ignoring my comment.

I followed after him.

Emma's P.O.V

I looked over to Lizzie who was still guiding walker Henry away from Glenn.

There was no way I could get up the steps, not with my leg. Then it hit me, I can throw knifes pretty accurately, but the angle is odd and I haven't practiced in since the farm.

I decided taking my chances to potentially save Lizzie is worth it.

I readied my knife in the throwing position.

"Emma! Don't. You could pop the air bag." Hershel said.

As he finished his sentence the heel of Lizzie's boot got stuck in the floor and she fell leading Henry to fall on top of her, causing Lizzie to scream.

Hershel then ran up the steps and pulled Henry off of the shrieking Lizzie.

Hershel threw Henry over the side of the railing so I readied myself to stab him in the head, but he didn't fall to the ground. It just look as if he was floating in mid air. Then I remembered, there was a wire net material that was put there to prevent anyone from dying if they either fell off or were pushed off.

Hershel helped Lizzie to her feet and, I assume, made sure she was okay. I couldn't really tell what was going on from down here.

I heard Maggie yell, "Dad! Open the door!" Then following that with a thud and a clank of medal.

I tried my best to hurry to open the door but Maggie must not have seen me because she just kept trying, which she eventually ended up breaking her axe off in the door forcing it to stay shut, she was gonna shoot the glass but I made as many 'no' motions with my hands as I could, because the glass is bulletproof and wouldn't break, the bullet would just ricochet.

Walkers were taking over down here. I was hurrying around as best as I could killing walkers and I over heard Hershel trying to go to Dr. S. for his gun, but I peeked up and saw, Dr. S. had turned. Hershel broke both of his arms, restricting him from reaching out at Hershel and he stabbed him in the eye. Dr. S' dead body fell to the floor and Hershel got in.

Carl's P.O.V

"Think they're okay?" I asked my dad as we were working on supporting the fence.

"If things were going bad we would have heard more gunshots. Maggie would've gotten us. We have to do this." Dad replied.

"Lets do it." I replied joining him in picking up another log.

"I got it." He said completely denying my help.

"Let me help." I said, helping anyways, I watched a grin form on his face.

"Alright set it down. Alright." He said and I did as he said.

We heard creaking and when we looked in the direction of it, there was a log that was in the process of snapping.

Dad hurried to try and keep the walkers from invading and he failed.

"Run!" He shouted to me while he faced the walkers head on stabbing one of them in the head then running for himself.

He kept tackling walkers trying to keep them from getting to me.

"Dad, come on! Come on!" I shouted helping him to his feet.

We made it into the guard tower just before the walkers caught up to us.

I could here them banging on the door trying to get in.

Dad and I escaped out of the other door leading ourselves out of the fences.

The walkers started building up in the corner of that fence, it was clear they were gonna bring it down.

"Dad, what do we do?" I asked anxiously.

"Maybe I could back the bus up against the fence." He suggested.

"Will it hold?" I questioned.

He didn't answer me, he just looked from me to the fence before grabbing my arm and dragging me along with him over to the old laundry bins filled with guns and ammo.

"Pockets." He said while handing over ammo to me.

"Here." He said while handing me a rifle. "Got it?" He followed up.

"Yep." I replied with a ton of hurry in my voice.

The walkers were already bending the fence, clearly eager to get through. With the way the fence was creaking, you would've thought it was going to snap.

"Alright, listen to me." Dad said.

"Alright." I replied.

"Magazine goes in here. Releases here." He said while pointing and demonstrating it to me. "Make sure it latches... Pull back the operating rod and rounds speed up... Keep squeezing the trigger for rapid fire, okay?" He concluded.

"Alright." I replied.

"You shoot or you run. Don't let em get close, okay?" He asked once more.

I nodded, and we took off towards the fence.

Just as we got into our positions the walkers broke down the fence and began flooding out towards us.

Gunshot after gunshot, with almost each shot a walker was taken down. I did exactly as dad said.  Keep squeezing the trigger for rapid-fire. The walkers were falling down left and right.

Emma's P.O.V

I needed to figure out a way to get up those steps. If I could get up the steps then I could put Henry down and get the air bag for Glenn.

Hershel has gotten Dr. S' gun and was about to shoot the walkers coming up the steps. Instead of getting done what he needed to he was worried about Lizzie and the other little boy seeing it.

I braced myself and pushed myself to walk up the steps. Each step was like hell. When I reached the walkers I stabbed my knife into their head.

There was one up by Hershel that he had a gun pointed at. He was too worried about Lizzie and the boy seeing so he couldn't do it.

I heard glass break, but I was unsure of what or who it was.

Hershel still stood still but I pushed past him.

"You stay here, I guess. Take out as many of the walkers down there as you can. I'll figure out a way to get the bag from Henry." I said.

Hershel just nodded.

It seemed the only panic was happening in here but then I heard what sounded like a million gunshots outside, and they didn't seem to be far away.

Another walker came for Hershel and again, him being too worried he lead the walkers away. When he got back into a closed off section that used to be for the guards, he began shooting them. There were three gunshots for three walkers.

I braced myself as I jumped over the side of the fence and joined Henry.

I had my knife ready to stab him but it fell out of my hand when I realized how much that hurt my leg. I would've just picked it up, but it fell throw the one of the holes in the net pattern.

I watched as Maggie raised her gun from below. Hershel was now by my side.

"No! You could hit the bag. We need it for Glenn." He shouted down to Maggie down below me.

I decided I'd try and make it easier for her to shoot it, because, knowing Maggie she was gonna shoot anyways. So, I got on top of Henry, pinning his arms down with my hands and pinning his lower body down by sitting on him with my legs spread across him. He couldn't move but that triggered some of the memories from The Governor and my mom's ex.

I can't worry about that right now, I can later.

When I finally had him pinned I shouted down to Maggie, "Now!" and she shot him, completely missing the bag.

I worked on getting Henry to Hershel so he could remove the bag, which I did successfully.

"Where is he?" Maggie shouted, worried.

"He's up here. Cell one hundred." I shouted back down to her, letting Hershel focus on taking the bag off.

Maggie ran off towards Glenn and when she got there shouted, "He's turning blue!"

"Clear his airway. I'm on the way." Hershel responded.

I stayed on this netted thing for a second and just listened. When Hershel took the bag off of Henry, he also pulled him out of here with me.

I heard Glenn's gasping stop, leading me to conclude he was all good.

I watched as Lizzie joined Hershel and Maggie by Glenn.

I really don't think I can get off of this thing by myself but its worth a shot.

I rolled over and slid under the railing.

I was back on the ground, well, of the second level.

I stood up as carefully as I could, being sure to not put any weight on my leg, which I did successfully and I limped over and joined Glenn, Hershel, Maggie, and Lizzie. None of them noticing that I was limping.

Carl's P.O.V

Dad and I had shot and killed a majority of the walkers, now we were going around and stabbing the ones that were still alive.

We looked over the walkers making sure we got them all, we realized we did and we still hadn't said anything.

Suddenly, a mini van pulled up to the gate, which I saw, but dad didn't.

"Dad... everythings gonna be okay." I said, breaking the silence.

I ran over to the gate and opened it, letting our people and our medicine in.

Rick's P.O.V

I opened the gate up here allowing the mini van to pull through.

Tyreese got out in a panic.

"Sasha? How's Sasha?" He asked.

"I don't know. I'm sorry." I replied.

"Get in there. We got this." Daryl spoke up. I feel kinda bad for Daryl, he never gets to rush in to see Emma or to stay with Emma, he's always helping other people.

"Daryl, go check on Emma." I practically ordered.

"I will in a few, we gotta get this medicine to our people." He argued.

"Daryl, we got this." I said and he ran off to the prison.

Emma's P.O.V

Hershel was tending to Glenn with Maggie, and after helping in here, I had interest in learning how to care for people so I asked Hershel to just guide me through taking the bullet out of my leg and how to stitch myself back up.

He began guiding me and I did everything perfectly as he said.

When I was done with that I heard someone come in through the door. It was Tyreese, they were back.

Tyreese of course went in to see Sasha.

I wanted to go see my dad but I didn't want to get in the way of preparing the medicine or risk infecting someone else so I just stayed put.

I let out a sigh.

"Emma, go see him." Hershel said.

"I'll see him soon eno-" I said but was cut off by my dad entering the room.

I ran down the steps, completely ignoring the pain in my leg.

I crashed into him and wrapped my arms around him as he did the same.

We stayed in a hug for what felt like forever, although, I know it wasn't.

By the time we finally split up from the hug, I was crying tears of joy.

"Why are you crying?" He chuckled.

"I'm just glad your back." I said laughing as well.
