The Red Bricked Apartment

Your P.O.V

I slumped back against the chair that I sat in, which was I front of my laptop.  I was so worried, and I was getting to the point to which I couldn't stand it.

It's been two weeks and still no signal, no word, from Tim. Maybe he was staling to find out more details, but he would have at least sent me some type of message. With harsh movements, I shut my laptop a little harder than I intended to and walked out of my once shared room.

I missed him unconditionally. There is nothing that could get my mind off of Tim, trust me I tried.

I couldn't even think straight when we would go on regularly scouts around the city. In my current state, I am a treat to society.

I entered the kitchen seeing Kon was already there taking making his midnight snack, "Nice to see that you've come out of your "fortress of solitude"," he joked, making a sandwich, "what have you've been up to?"

I sighed, opening the fridge door to grab an orange juice (sorry if you don't like OJ), "I really don't want to talk about it."

"Why not?" he pressed, leaning against the kitchen counter, taking a bite of his food he had just finished making, "I mean, we all know why you never come out of your room."

I sighed, "Look, it's just that... I'm sorry," I apologized, "I'm really worried about Red. I still feel guilty for leaving him."

"Hey, that was his call, not yours."  Kon set his sandwich aside on the counter coming up to me, putting his hands on my shoulders.

I pushed myself out of his grip, not wanting to be touched, "I know that, but I can't shake it off like some bad memory." I frowned feeling even more depressed.

"We'll find him," Kon pulled me into a tight hug, "I promise."

~~~
I had just got to Bludhaven not too long ago and let's just say I was already regretting it. I made my claim to the Titans that I needed to get some advise before I could move on to saving the world.
It didn't take me long to look up my old friend and discover where she lived. Hopefully, her shift hours were still the same.
I walked up to a red bricked apartment building, that I was sure looked nicer on the inside than it looked on the out. I entered the building's front doors, taking my dearest time because we all know time is slower when you really want it to fly past you at the speed of light.
A huge knot was caught at the bottom of my stomach, did I really want to do this?
I took a little more time than I was expecting just to get to the elevators that had been operational in the main lobby. My fingers ghosted over the misty colored buttons, not knowing if I should press them, or not. I shakily pressed the button that had been printed with the number three on it, then the machine began to move, pulling me up floor by floor until I reached my destination.
The door slid open almost as hesitant as I was. Well, there was no turning back now. I kept a simple pace, darting down the hall with my bag I had just remembered was there, slumped over my shoulder.
My heartbeat quickened as I neared the door, the numbers labeled 216 on a little silver plaque. I held up my hand ready to knock, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. I stood there, frozen in an iceberg, motionless.
After a few seconds of a mini panic attack, my fist lightly hit the door three times. A few shuffles came from the other side of the door along with furniture crashing to the ground until the door opened.
A pair of familiar forest green eyes met mine. The woman took a quick sip of her coffee before almost choking on it upon seeing me, "(Y/n)?" the woman exclaimed.
"Hey, Rebecca." I greeted her with a warm smile.
~~~~~

"Oh my gosh it's like I haven't seen you in forever," she exclaimed leading me into her home.

"Well, time flies." she strolled over to her couch sitting down and placing her cup of coffee on the small table in front of her. I sat across from her on the opposite couch

"So how has everything been?" she asked with a king genuine smile, "I mean it's been a while and we both need to catch up."

I was so oddly taken back by this, everything wasn't okay. Tim was gone, I couldn't go on patrol without having to worry about screwing up, and lastly, it's been a while since I've gotten sleep or actually ate a decent meal.

I plastered a fake smile on my face, "Everything's been great." I lied.

She nodded, picking up her coffee and taking a sip, "That's good, I was scared something bad would happen to you."

'Yeah I kind of died and was somehow magically resurrected with no memories,' I thought, 'yeah nothing bad going on here.'

"Could I offer you anything to drink?" she asked getting up out of her seat.

"Coffee please," I paused, "I'm really exhausted and could use a cup." once again, she smiled, then walked over to her kitchen.

"You need it," she called out, pouring me a cup.

"Huh?" I raised an eyebrow not really knowing what she meant.

"The coffee," she explained, "it looks like you haven't slept in days.

"Oh it's because I haven't," I wanted to say, but instead I let a small chuckle come out.

Rebecca came back with another cup of coffee soon before handing it to me. I thanked her before taking a sip of the liquid.

Drinking the coffee reminded me of Tim. Oh gosh, Tim.  I can't keep doing this, I can't keep pretending like I'm okay while the person I love is god knows where.

"Um, (Y/n)," I was pulled from my little one-on-one conversation with myself and looked at Rebecca, "are you alright?"

I waved her off taking another sip of my coffee, "I'm fine, it's just--" I paused to catch my breath,  "nevermind."

"Look," she leaned over the table and placed her hand on my knee, "whatever it is that's bothering you, it will pass. Just like a storm, some of them can last days, even months, but eventually, it will clear out. You just got to be patient."

I shot her a bright smile, her speech had an effect on me. I let her words sink in a little more, letting them repeat in my mind, 'It will all pass.'

"So what have you been up to?" I blurted out trying to change the subject.

She shrugged, "The same thing I've been doing; drink coffee, eat, go to work, sleep. You know, the usual."

And this is basically all we talked about, we had a few laughs and many cups of coffee, and that was basically it until my phone began to go off.

I looked down at it only see a message...

Superboy
Where can we meet you?

I quickly responded, asking him "Why?" before anxiousness flowed through my body.

Superboy
A message was sent to the computer

"Uh, (Y/n)?" I looked back up at Rebecca seeing her giving me a questioning look.

"I have to go," I stuttered getting up and grabbing my stuff, "maybe coffee sometime?"

"Yeah that would be nice," she kindly accepted as I walked over to the door as she trailed close behind and opened the front door, "see you later?"

"Yeah," I hurriedly walked out and waved, "Bye."

I walked down the long hallway, went down the elevator, and out the front lobby, well aware of some news that might change my life.
