The sky outside was a dark grey colour and it seemed that at any given minutes the heavens would open and pour down on them. "Bagsie not putting the sign out." Fred shouted.
"I'm not doing it!" George yelled back.
"I just said I wasn't doing it so you can't say that you're not doing it!" Fred told his brother off.
"I'll do it!" Eliza said before an argument started between the boys.
Slowly, she pulled the sign out and stood it up. Eliza let out a sigh as she glanced down the street, she noticed a dark figure walking up. The figure was about to turn down into Knockturn Alley but stopped as they saw her. The hood slipped slightly and she gasped when she saw who it was.
He too, seemed shocked that it was her.
The two stared at each for a moment or so before he quickly walked away and down Knockturn Alley.
"Eliza, Eliza. Slow down! You're going to hurt yourself!" Dominic called out to his younger sister as she laughed happily as she ran around the grounds of the Dawlish Manor. "Wait for me!"
"You can't catch me Dommy!" Eliza screamed out to her brother, "I'm going to win!"
Dominic chuckled to himself, "I've got you." He said as he picked her up and twirled her around.
"Can we play the Knights game now?" She asked him.
He nodded much to her delight, "I'll be a knight and you can be the princess?"
She stomped her foot, "No! Why can't I be the knight?" She started to march, "I would love to fight the bad people and then roar as we're VICTORIOUS!"
"Okay little one, you can be the knight and I'll be the King."
She checked her uniform nervously in the mirror before walking down the stairs to where her mother and brother were waiting for her patiently, "Come on now, we need to get there on time. We can't be late for your first day at Hogwarts."
"Yes mother."
"Are you excited sister?" Dominic asked her as the three stood in front of the fireplace, "To start at Hogwarts and join the best house ever!"
"Best house ever?"
Dominic held her hand, "Slytherin of course."
"How could I forget?" Eliza giggled as the three apparated onto the nine and three quarters platform, "Wow! Isn't this amazing."
"You haven't seen anything yet."
"Okay, I'll see you at Christmas Dominic, have a good time." She kissed his cheek, "And you Eliza, we're going to be so proud of you when you join Slytherin. Show everyone what you're made of! I love you both!" Their mother said to them before the two siblings got onto the train.
"You can sit with us sister." Dominic said as he led her into the compartment, "Eliza these are my friends."
"Hello." She said to them before shyly sitting down beside her brother.
"Are you looking forward to joining Slytherin?" One of her brother's friends asked her, he looked very similar to her brother except he had blue eyes.
She nodded her head, "Yes, of course I am."
Loud noises could be heard as two ginger boys ran along the corridor laughing loudly. "More Weasley's."
"Don't go near them Eliza." She nodded her head but she thought that they both looked very happy and fun to be around.
"They'll be in Gryffindor."
"Don't go near Gryffindors either Eliza, they are scum." She nodded her head again even if she did prefer the deep red compared to the cold green.
After a couple of hours, they pulled into the station and Dominic told her that she had to follow the tall man, "He's an idiot though but you have to follow him."
"Okay."
"I'll see you later on." Dominic told his sister, "Have fun little sister."
She smiled gently, "Thank you big brother." She then went over to where the tall man was and waited patiently in front of him, "Hello, I'm Eliza! What's your name?"
"Hello," He smiled down at her name, "My names Hagrid."
"It's lovely to meet you." She held her hand to him so he could shake it.
Once he had, he smiled again, "If you would all follow me over to the boats please."
Eliza timidly got into the boat and saw two other girls step in, "Hello I'm Angelina Johnson!"
"Eliza, it's lovely to meet you."
"I'm Alicia Spinnet!" The girls all smiled at each other. "What houses do you both want to get into?"
"Gryffindor." Angelina said while grinning.
"I don't mind as long as it's not Slytherin." Alicia told them, "What about you Eliza?"
She hesitated, "My family expect me to go into Slytherin."
"Do you want to?"
"They'll be very disappointed in me if I don't."
The two girls glanced at each other, "What's your last name?"
"Dawlish."
The two girls glanced at each other again, "Oh."
Just like everyone else they were beginning to judge her because of who her family were. In one of the other boats she could see the ginger twins laughing again, this time she could see a few little fireworks going on causing her to laugh to herself.
"Wow! Look!" Angelina shouted as she pointed up towards the castle, "It's even better than what I expected!"
Staring at it in awe, Eliza began to smile to herself - she was going to like living in Hogwarts.
As soon as they reached the other end of the lake, Hagrid led them up to the castle where they stopped outside of two large doors. He then left them and an elderly witch stepped out of the doors, "First years follow me please."
They then walked into the Great Hall and Eliza looked up to the ceiling where she was met with lots of stars shining, "Isn't it great?" Alicia said to Angelina.
Stopping at the front of the hall they all waited for their name to be called out. Her name was one of the first read out and Eliza walked slowly up to the stool and the hat was placed onto her head. "Another Dawlish? Now, what are you like? Do you want to be like the rest of your family or who you are truly supposed to be. They are all expecting you to be in Slytherin but if they were looking closely then they would know you weren't supposed to be in it. Ravenclaw, that's a good one for you, you're very clever, you see things no one else does but no. That's not the one for you." Eliza looked over to her brother who was staring at her confusedly, it probably didn't take him that long to be chosen. "Hufflepuff, no, you're very loyal and kind but no. You are very like your aunt, yes that's where you shall be." Eliza remained unsure about what he was going to say, "The place where your full potential shall be revealed." He then shouted so everyone could hear him, "GRYFFINDOR."
The Gryffindor table burst into cheers, and Eliza refused to look over at her brother who was certainly upset. No one could quite believe it, even the teachers were slightly bewildered that a Dawlish had been put into Gryffindor. "Lovely to meet you," A ginger boy said, "I'm Charlie, Charlie Weasley and this is my brother Bill."
"Hello," She smiled at him, "I'm Eliza Dawlish."
"Cedric Diggory." The witch, McGonagall, called out.
It seemed that within seconds, the hat had come to his decision, "Hufflepuff." Eliza watched as the boy walked over to the Hufflepuff table.
"Angelina Johnson." It didn't take long for the hat to shout, "Gryffindor."
The two girls grinned at each other, "We're both in Gryffindor!"
"By the way, I'm sorry about being cold towards you when you said your name."
"It's okay, I'm used to it."
"Alicia Spinnet," She sat down on the stool and Eliza hoped that she too would get into their house, "Gryffindor!"
Angelina and Alicia began talking quickly whilst Eliza was too busy watching as it was nearly the ginger twins time to be sorted. "Fred Weasley," He hadn't had enough time to properly sit down when the hat shouted, "Gryffindor."
He walked over and Eliza smiled at him nervously as it was his brother's turn, "George Weasley." It was the exact same thing that had happened to his twin, "Gryffindor."
"Hello, "I'm Eliza Dawlish."
Neither of the boys even batted an eyelid, "Fred and George Weasley, good to meet you."
"I saw the fireworks you set off on the lake, they were very impressive." The two nodded their head, "I know a charm that could make them even bigger. The engorgement charm."
Suddenly, the two boys turned to her with an excited expression on their face, "It's great to meet you."
"I think we're going to be great friends."
"Hopefully," She smiled back as they grinned cheekily.
A boy with short brown hair and chocolate brown eyes moved along the bench and asked them excitedly, "So, do any of you like Quidditch?"
"Of course we do." The twins said.
"I hope to be a Chaser one day." Eliza told him, "I've been playing since I was young."
The boy became very interested in what she had to say, "Really? So have I."
"Usually, I train everyday."
He gasped, "You do? Oh, you are just bloody brilliant."
"Sorry about Oliver here, he's obsessed." Charlie told her while jokingly hitting the back of Oliver's head.
"Who do you support?"
"Ballycastle Bats, my dream is to play for them."
He nodded his head, "I want to play for Puddlemere United when I was older."
"Really, they're a great team!"
"They are, they really are." Oliver agreed with her, "I'm hoping to join the Gryffindor Quidditch Team as soon as I can."
"That would be brilliant." Eliza told him, "I would love to play in the team."
"I know right, maybe we'll get to play together."
"Hopefully." Eliza said as the two shared a smile.
