Chapter 20
“Bell please come out of the toilet,” Steph called knocking on the door lightly.
“No,” I replied tears cascading down my face as I sat on the toilet.
“Please so we can talk,” Steph asked.
“Why would she do this to me,” I questioned.
“Because she’s a bitch,” Steph said.
“I never even spoke to her why is she so mean,” I wondered resting my head in my hands.
“Because she’s jealous,” Steph said.
“Why would she be jealous of me,” I asked.
“Because you are pretty, smart, nice have best friends,” Steph listed.
“Don’t forget pregnant,” I added.
“Bell come on, please come out so we can talk,” she begged.
“No… My life is over,” I cried.
“Don’t think like that… say that this baby is just the start and who cares what other people think anyway, you’re stronger than any of them,” she said.
“But you’re not the one walking around pregnant and everyone hating you,” I stated.
“The Bell I know doesn’t care what people think because you know the only people that love you are the only ones you need in your life,” Steph said.
I heard a knock on the door then James call Steph’s name.
“I’ll be back in a sec,” she said then left the room.
“Bell are you in here,” I heard a voice say that wasn’t Steph, James or Tom.
I sniffled a bit from the crying; I hope he didn’t hear it.
“It’s Julian, I know what it feels like for everyone to be talking about you,” Julian started.
“It’s not the same thing,” I mumbled.
“Well my sister also got pregnant remember,” Julian reminded me.
Sadie is two years older than us and had a baby in her Junior year, I still remember what people said and thought, she lost everything friends, boyfriend and her popularity. And that’s what I’m most scared of losing the people that I love.
“Do you remember what people thought about me when I came out,” he asked.
“Yes, everyone avoided you but then you became popular because all of the girls wanted a gay friend… but Julian you can always change, I can’t I’m in this for life,” I stated.
“But I don’t want to change I except the way I am and you should too,” he replied.
“Julian I’m scared do you know that my parents also kicked me out,” I told him.
“Yeah it’s going around school now,” he informed me.
“Great,” I sighed.
“Are you listening,” he wondered.
“Yes,” I answered.
“Bell your strong you helped me pull though a tough time in my life and I’m going to help you do the same. One thing you told me when I came out was and I quote ‘You know who you are so don’t let other people get to you’ and you’re sitting on a toilet doing the exact opposite. Everything that happens here at school is shaping you to be a mother so don’t show them your weak side walk out there with your head held high,” he said.
I stood up off the toilet, opened the door then ran up to hug him.
“Thank you,” I muttered into his shirt.
“Let’s wipe away those tears it’s ruining your beautiful face,” Julian stated turning around wetting a paper towel then patted under my eyes.
Once all the tears were gone he slung his arm around my shoulders and we walked out together.
The looks were horrible, once people saw me they turned away into little groups obliviously talking about me.
Steph, James and Tom followed closely eyeing everyone who looked at me which I had a little giggle about because Steph is the most non intimidating person I know.
I suppose this is my life now I have to get use to it I’m going to become a Mom and I have to not let people get to me.
This is not how I imagined my Senior year.
Matt’s P.O.V
“Dude rumour has it that Patience is going to ask you out,” Kai announced in excitement.
“Great,” I replied not in an excited tone.
“Matt, Patience blonde, rocking body, big boobs,” Kai explained.
“Any guy would give their left nut to hook up with her,” Levi added.
“Oh come on Levi she’s not that hot,” Nikki said.
“You obliviously don’t understand who we are talking about,” Levi responded.
“Oh trust me I do,” Nikki responded.
“Matt is obliviously going to say yes… aren’t you Matt,” Kai questioned.
“No I don’t think so,” I stated slouching.
“Come on man don’t tell me you still haven’t gotten over Bell,” Levi asked.
I looked around at everyone’s faces, I really did want to say yes but I still love her with all my heart - I know that sounds cheesy but its true – and when she just broke up with me for no reason I was heartbroken but she sounded like she wanted to tell me something but didn’t.
“Isn’t it crystal clear?” Ava wondered looking at everyone like they were missing something.
The guys looked at her with blank expressions while Nikki, Addi and Char nodded.
“He still loves her,” Ava announced.
“No not my man Matt he doesn’t hang on to old relationships that ended months ago,” Kai said patting me on the back.
“Well sorry to break the news to you about ‘your buddy’ but us girls have a sixth sense,” Ava informed Kai.
“Yeah more like being nuts,” Kai muttered that made us guys laugh under our breaths knowing if the girls hear we’re dead meet.
“I shall ignore what you just said and ask Matt himself do you still love Bell,” Ava wondered.
“Well I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have feels for her,” I announced.
“Then why don’t you go and find her ask her the real reason why she broke up with you,” Ava wondered.
“Because I don’t know where she lives,” I told everyone.
“Oh come on through your entire relationship she never told you where she lived,” Nikki questioned.
“Well not exactly… all I know is that she lives near Bismarck, North Dakota,” I informed everyone.
“That’s better than nothing,” Ava said.
“Can we drop it now please,” I asked.
“Fine,” Nikki said without a fight which I was surprised by.
“Thank you,” I thanked.
“He so still loves her,” I heard Nikki tell Ava with Ava nodding her head agreement.
I just ignored them, you have to get use to it they are the gossip couple.
The bell then sounded, signalling the end of break; we walked our separate ways to our lockers I saw Madi leaning against my locker which she never does unless she has something important to say, I approached with curiosity.
When I got closer it appeared that she has been crying.
“Madi what’s wrong,” I asked.
“Dad just rang,” she spoke.
“Why is something wrong,” I questioned.
“Kind of,” she started.
“What? Has something happened to Mom,” I fretted.
“No, Matt we’re moving,” she announced.
“What? Where to? Since when,” I questioned.
“This Friday,” she said.
“Where to,” I questioned.
“North Dakota,” Madi informed me.
