Venus POV
We have a new case where I get to join in as it was located at where Temp and I grew up together before everything happened. As we get out of the car Booth tells us, "I can't believe you grew up in this area." I shrug, "I don't remember to much of this place." Temp adds, "Yes. I am an alumna of Burtonsville High." Booth asks, "Right. Did you ever bring a boy out here and-" "What, touch his genitalia? No." I smile a bit at her bluntness as Booth says, "Whoa. Okay, I was just thinking maybe just a little smooching." "I used to come out here to find animals to dissect. I didn't have a boyfriend." I nod, "That sounded very like you Temp." Booth adds, "Well, maybe because you were cutting up little woodland creatures maybe?"
We go under the yellow tape as the Sherriff says to us, "I'm Sheriff Rebecca Conway. You federal backup?" Booth shows her his badge, "F.B.I. Special Agent Seeley Booth." "Hmm. Nice wheels. Nice face... and bod. Very nice." I look away as I used a cough to hide my laugh as Booth says a bit weirded out, "Thank you." Temp then says looking at the Sheriff, "We know each other. Becky, right? I'm- I'm Temperance." Sheriff Conway looks at her confused, "Have I arrested you before, on?" "You were my lab partner in chemistry at Burtonsville High." "Are you absolutely sure? I have an excellent memory." Temp nods, "Positive. Though you are thinner now, which is better for your cardiovascular system. In high school, you were quite overweight, hence the derision from the other students."
The Sheriff then says a bit embarrassed and not so pleased, "Yeah, I remember you now- the creepy girl." We looked at Temp as I then make my way up a bit to get rid of this bit of awkwardness, "And I'm Dr. Venus Brennan... the creepy girl's sister. Nice to meet you." We shake hands as she looks at me, "Oh... I didn't know there was another one." I smile at her, "I assure you, my sister and I aren't the same." "I hope so." "I'm much worse than her, so it be better to lay on the low when around us." Sheriff Conway looked a bit shocked as she looks over at Booth as he just tries to smile it out as he says, "Yeah... don't underestimate her..."
Sheriff Conway then says to Temp, "So, you're in town for the reunion." Booth chuckles, "Reunion." "Yeah. I need a date, if you're free." I just smile nudging Booth a bit as he looks at me as to say stop playing around as Temp says, "We're just here to inspect the remains." Sheriff Conway nods, "Oh. No surprise there." She then leads us the way as she explains, "Two girls were out here rolling around." Booth asks, "Two girls?" "Yeah. It's the 21st century, sweetheart. Get with the program." We then see a raccoon inside a cage as she adds, "Anyway, that critter ran into them right there with the skull on its head." Temp then says, "Well, it was probably eating the brains and eyes. Often, scavengers-" But Sheriff Conway then says, "Don't need the details, Morticia. I'm keeping this quiet until I know what we're dealing with."
Temp and I went over to the skull as I pick it up as we take a look at it as I say, "Female, age indeterminate." Temp adds, "Judging by the lack of staining, the victim's head was severed postmortem." Sheriff Conway then says grossed out, "Oh! No. Not cut up." I nod, "That's what it shows." Temp then says, "Well, I'm glad you kept this quiet, Becky. There are probably more remains in the area." Sheriff Conway then gets some of her people as she says, "We're gonna need to search the bushes for more people parts, Lou."
We are all in the forest part looking around as Temp says to the cops, "I don't want the remains compromised." Booth adds, "Don't compromise the remains." Temp then turns to us, "She was a very careless lab partner." I try not to laugh as I say, "Don't worry, I'm sure she's better now." Booth then says, "You gotta go to your reunion, Bones. We already flew all the way out here." I nod agreeing as she says, "I'm not going. High school was not a happy time. For some reason, people didn't seem to like me." I then say, "That's obscured, how could they not like you." She nods, "I wonder that as well. It made no sense." Booth then says, "Which is exactly why you have to go now. Reunions are made for you to smear your success into people's faces. Your accomplishments are gonna kill 'em." I shrug a bit as I then see something on the ground as I bend down to take a better look, "I found something!" It seems to be some remains.
It was odd as it had none of the ribs as Sheriff Conway comes over to us looking as she gasps as Booth asks, "Where are the ribs, Bones, Blueberry?" I shrug standing up letting Temp take pictures as she answers, "According to the legend, they've been cooked and eaten." Booth and I both ask, "Legend? What legend?" Sheriff Conway then answers, "They say a spirit lives in these woods. He takes over a person, makes them kill." Temp then adds, "My senior year, a classmate was murdered and dismembered just like this." Sheriff Conway adds onto her statement, "Ribs gone." "They never found the killer." "The Butcher of Burtonsville High. He's back."
I was on video call with Wendell who was at the lab as we sent him the remains as Temp and I tell him what we've found so far as he asks, "The Butcher of Burtonsville?" Temp nods, "That's what we called him." Hodgins then says, "Insect activity puts time of death at approximately 10 days ago." Cam then comes over to them as she says, "You should swab the dismemberment points. There could be trace evidence from a blade." Hodgins looks at her, "You get very bossy when you don't have flesh to play with." I chuckle a bit as I then say, "Hodgins, she is your boss." Wendell then looks at Temp and I, "And he removes his victim's ribs because?" I looked at Temp briefly as I answered, "He apparently eats them as what I've been told." Temp nods adding, "Barbecue." Cam then asks us, "You don't actually believe that?" I smile shaking my head as Temp says, "There's no evidence of cannibalism." I nod, "It's merely an urban legend."
Hodgins then asks Temp, "But they never found out who killed the girl in your class?" "No. Sarah Tidwyler. Booth is getting the old case files to find links." Wendell looks at the remains as he assesses, "The stump on the victim's fourth and fifth ribs... show evidence of hemorrhagic staining." Cam then says, "So two ribs weren't sawed off." I add, "Fractured and then snapped off, it appears." We then see Angie come in as she says, "So your high school is famous, honey. The earliest recorded mention of the Butcher of Burtonsville was in 1956." Young people were warned to avoid secluded locations at night... as there was a lunatic who killed and dismembered his victims... and then barbecued and ate their ribs." I nod a bit, "Interesting." But Temp then says, "Yet, until Sarah's murder, it was just an urban legend- society's attempt to control behavior through a fear-based myth." Hodgins then says, "This is a very teenage slasher movie-ish." I chuckle a bit nodding as I add, "Whatever blade was used left very clean and precise cuts."
Can then says to me, "It's always a tad creepy when you admire the killer's handiwork." I smile a bit as Wendell says, "I find it cute when she does that." I blush a bit as they all looked at him as Cam adds, "Of course you do..." I then get a text as I check seeing it was Booth as he says we are going undercover and would be best to find a fake date to take with me and help boast Temp. I smile backing away from the camera as I let Temp talk to them about anything about the case as I start looking through my suitcase for some nice clothing as I sigh a bit seeing nothing as I hear my name being called. I look over seeing Temp looking at me as she says to the group, "I'm not sure what she is doing, I will ask. What are you doing Ven?" I smile continuing to look, "I'm looking for very decent clothes. Ranger says we're going undercover sort of, and we are to help boast up your status and stuff like that for the class reunion of yours." "I don't find that necessary. Plus all our clothes are for work."
I nod, "You're right... that means we have to go shopping for some clothes." Angie then says, "Make sure to video chat me when you go shopping." I nod as take out a outfit and moving a bit away from the camera beginning to change. I finish as I step back into view showing it over to Temp, "How's this for now?" She nods as the others looks at it as Hodgins says, "You look like a young hot business woman." I see Wendell look at Hodgins, "Dude." Hodgins raises his hands up in defense as Wendell looks back, "You look amazing." I smile, "Great! I'm off to find a date now. Talk to you all later." I turn away as I hear a small clatter from the other side of the screen as Wendell says, "Wait?! What?!" I inform about to exit out the door, "Don't worry, it'll be a fake one." And I am finally off to start my search.
3rd POV
Wendell goes into Hodgins workspace with some particulates, "There appears to be some metal flakes... embedded in the margins of the bones." He places it down on the table next to Hodgins as he says, "Ooh, come to the king." "Man. Social pressures, sports, sexual psychoramas. I'm surprised there aren't more murders in high school." "You're high school sounds a lot more exciting than mine." "It's a pretty tough place. A lot of violence. A lot of drugs. A lot of pregnancies." "So you've been through the baby daddy scare before?" Wendell looked at him confused, "Before?" Hodgins looks at him seeing his confusion as he asks again, "Before what?" Hodgins sees that Venus hadn't told him about the whole Cam panic of who's pregnant event and how Venus was one of the three suspected before finding out no one was really pregnant after Cam told Angela it was a false positive and Venus also tested false. "Oh, no." Wendell face drops seeing Hodgin's face as he concludes that Venus is pregnant.
He quickly leaves going over to Angela's workspace knowing that she is video chatting with Venus right now finding an outfit with her as he goes into the room seeing Venus on the screen and Angela hand on a box as she says, "Sweetie, how many boxes of baby clothes you said you had?" She chuckles a bit, "I know... I have a tendency to go over board a bit." "A bit? Honey... you have enough to make a store for baby clothes." Venus sweatdrops a bit, "Yeah..." He then comes in as Angela looks at him a bit surprised as Venus sees him as well seeming a bit shocked and unreadable expression as she says, "Wendell?" He looks at her as he asks, "You were pregnant?" Venus looked a bit confused as Angela says looking between the two, "Uh... I'll just go and let you two talk..." She leaves quickly as he asks, "Were you?" Venus shakes her head, "No. I was not pregnant. Where did you hear that from?" "Hodgins."
Venus thinks for a bit as she then remembers that day as it is starting to make sense as she sighs a bit as he says to her, "But you thought you might be pregnant. You even have baby clothes in that box." She nods, "Very briefly, Bub. Cam had said some stuff and got me thinking of the possibility. And those clothes were from way before when Temp was thinking about having a kid. It has nothing to do with this." "Why didn't you tell me? I'm pretty sure... No, I'm sure I'm the only possibility." "Of course you would be. But-" She looked at him for a moment and sigh, "Look- This isn't the best way to talk about this between screens. How about we talk about his later face to face." They look at each other for a moment as he nods, "Yeah. Alright, we can absolutely discuss this later." She nods as he turns to leave again but stops as he turns back, "But before I go, could- could you not find a fake date." She looks at him and gives him a small warm smile, "Of course, I'd rather have no one if it isn't you." He smiles a bit then leaves as he thinks about the whole thing.
Venus POV
We meet Booth again outside the hotel we are staying at as I even rented a car for us to use as I hear Booth say to Temp, "Where is she?" "She said she'd be here any moment now." I smile getting out of the car as I then whistle at them. They both turn to me as I smile waving at them as they both then start making their way towards me as Temp had a confused face while Booth had an excited one. I then ask, "Do I look rich enough?" Temp then says, "But you are rich Ven." Booth starts checking out the car as he says, "You definitely went all out." I chuckle at the two, "Of course I did. If we are going to Temps reunion, we have to make our best entrance, plus I have to look the part of Temp's successful sister as well." Temp then says, "But you are very successful." Booth then says, "But now she looks the part." I nod, "Well let's get going to the school then?"
They both nod as Booth looks at me as I smile knowing what he would like as I hand him the keys as I then open the door for Temp and I as Booth looks at it even more amazed, "The doors go up!" I chuckle nodding as Temp gets inside the front seat as I close it for her as Booth gets inside as well. I then hop in as we then drive away with class.
We are now walking in the school as I stand next to Temp with my arm looped around hers as Booth says, "How well do you know, thus, uh custodian?" Temp answers, "Very well. He used to find dead animals for me to dissect. We used to have long discussions about death. Mr. Buxley would say it was a natural process." "You were Wednesday Addams." I chuckle a bit nodding, "Definitely." Temp looked confused, "I don't know what you two are talking about." Booth explains, "Well, in high school you had a creepy custodian as a best friend. I bet you had a pet rat too." "No. I had a mouse and a snake and some spiders." I shudder as I ask, "Was that after I was gone... right?" She nods, "Yes, it was." Booth then says, "Wow. And you weren't popular. Now, that's amazing." We turn a corner as Temp, and I bump into someone as we back up as they dropped something.
The woman then says, "Oh! I am so sorry. My nerves are totally fried. I haven't slept in days because of this damn reunion." It was a blond woman as a man was helping her out as Temp asks, "Julie Coyle?" She looks at Temp, "Yes. Do we know each other?" "Temperance Brennan." "Temperance. Oh. Yes. You- liked dead things." The guy next to Julie says, "I thought that was you. Wow. The years have been very kind to you, Temperance. Very." Julie then says, "Not that 'very.' She liked dead things, Brad." I had an irrational growing in my as I just kept a smile, "Well, I beg to differ." They looked at me as they don't seem to know me as figured, "Oh sorry. But I'm Venus Brennan, little sister of Temperence." Brad then says, "Oh, wow. I didn't know you had a sister as well, Temperence. It seems you both are doing great." I nod as Temp says, "Yes, but now I'm a wealthy author and a successful scientist alongside my sister." She then looks at Booth and I, "Did I do that right?" I laugh a little as Booth then says, "No." He then looks at the two, "I'm, uh, her husband, Bobby Kent, Temperance's lesser half." I smile even more as Booth holds her hand.
Brad then says, "Brad Benson. Julie Coyle. So you guys have any kids yet?" Booth answers, "Oh, no, not yet, but we want a houseful. Right?" Temp nods, "Yes. We have intercourse every chance we get." I try not to laugh as I keep a smile as much as possible as Booth says, "Wow. Uh, yeah. All over the place." They then look at me as I just say, "I'm gonna get married soon, so you know we plan to have kids later." I show them the ring that I bought just an hour earlier before coming here.
Everyone seemed to look shocked at the ring as Julie says, "Wow- Well, we have a gym to decorate, so-" Before they go Brad then says, "You know, Evelyn is gonna be so happy to see you, Temperence. 'Bygones are bygones.' she always says." "You married Evelyn Simms?" Julie then says, "We were all so jealous. Evelyn's off saving some unpronounceable country." "Uh, Nicaragua." "See? So Prom King Brad here's been giving me a hand." "Yeah, but Evy's gonna be flying back for the reunion. We'll see you there. Good to meet you, Bobby, Venus. And congratulations on your engagement." We smile as I say, "Thank you." Booth says, "Yeah. 'Bygones be bygones." The two leave as Booth and I looked at Temp as he asks, "What did that Brad guy mean?" I add, "What's going on between you and Evelyn?" Booth nod, "Something happened." "It's not important. We were children. We should go see Mr. Buxley." We nod as we begin following her.
3rd POV
Wendell and Angela are sitting together at the bar as Venus asked her if she could explain the who situation to him as she knows all he was going to be thinking about was the situation. So that's what Angela is doing as she explains everything to him, "So the pregnancy test was mine. But by morning, I knew I wasn't pregnant. I just told Venus if she wouldn't say anything about it, but Cam had spoked her out a bit that I had helped her out with taking one. But she was also false. Her test was just to ease her mind so she saw no reason to bring it up." "What you're saying would make perfect sense to Dr. Brennan, but it- it feels wrong, you know?"
Angela looks at him and thinks for a moment and sighs, "Well, maybe she should've told you, but- Look I'm sure you know about Venus past, right." He nods a bit, "Yeah, she told me about what happened." "Right, so you have to get that all of this is extremely new to her. You are her first and practically only serious relationship and you give her the affection that she never received. I mean sure she has her family, but it isn't the same as what you give her. Brennan, doesn't really know how to show her affection that well, their brother Russ has his family to take care of, and their father... well, you know."
Wendell nods as Angie continues, "She doesn't know how a family is supposed to look like and just the thought of being asked a bunch of questions that she nor maybe you weren't ready for." "I can answer those questions." "Well, what do you mean?" "If she got pregnant, it's her decision what to do." "Well, yeah. I agree." "I get that, but... if she decided to keep the baby, I would do the right thing." "You would?" "I absolutely would. I'd never let her go through something alone, especially when it's something we both made together. I'll give her the family she deserves to always have. I'd marry her right away if that's what she wants." Angie smiles a bit, "Venus would be happy to hear that from you." He smiles a bit, "I wish I could see her right now."
Angie gets an idea, "Well, I do have a picture of her that she took for me when shopping for outfits." She takes out her phone and sends the photo to Wendell as he grabs his phone opening the text as he sees the photo. He just stares at it in awe as Angela laughs a bit, "I know, I did a wonderful job. But I'm sure she'd be glad if her fiancé came right at the middle of her sisters class reunion." Wendell looks at Angela confused, "Fiancé? Who?!" "Of course, it would be you." "What? I can't go, even if I wanted to." She brushes him off, "Don't worry, I'll cover your flight expenses and you just need the outfit to look the part of her fiancé. Let's go." Without a word she drags Wendell to get him ready for him to arrive at the reunion."
Venus POV
We are waiting by the door of the custodian's room as Temp nocks the door as she says, "Mr. Buxely?" She opens it as we enter the room looking around the dim place seeing different tools as Temp says happy, "Ah, I have so many fond memories of this place." I smile as I think about Temps days in high school as Booth says, "Gee, can't imagine why this guy was a suspect." I nudge him a bit to stop as he does as Temp says, "Mr. Buxley?" We then hear someone behind us as we all turn around as we see Mr. Buxley standing their with a plate of... who knows as Temp smiles, "Mr. Buxley. It's good to see you." He smiles walking up into the light a bit, "And you. You grew up good." "Thank you." She then looks at Booth and I, "And these are-" Booth says first, "Her husband, uh, Bobby." Temp nods, "My husband, Bobby." Mr. Buxely then says, "Oh, lucky man."
I smile introducing myself, "And I'm Venus her sister." He looks at me as he then says, "Oh, so you're the lost sister. Glad that you found her." Temp nods, "I did, thank you." "You care for some ribs? They're... succulent, juicy." Booth wanted to look disgusted as I wasn't really into ribs right now as I shake my head as Booth says, "Uh, I'm fine, and I'm full. I already ate." I look around the room as I try complementing, "You have quite the collection of blades around here." "Yeah, well, a man never knows when he might need to cut." I nod as Booth says, "That's... quite a motto, right?" Temp then says, "I was just telling my husband and sister... about Sarah Tidwyler. Do you remember her?" "Yeah. Folks here thought I killed her." "Well, not me." "No. No, not you. I could always count on you. Say, you know, I might have me a dead rabbit around here... if you'd like to cut it open."
Temp smiles, "That is so sweet." Booth then says, "No, it's not sweet." I then add smiling, "Oh! Could I also join?" Booth looks at me, "I mean, not now, probably because Mr. Buxley here has to get the campus ready for the big reunion." "I suppose." "Yeah. I'm sure you've been working... long hours late into the night, probably even weekends, right? Maybe even the weekend before last. Were you working then?" Temp and I look between both men as Mr. Buxley asks, "Why do you wanna ask me about that particular weekend, hmm?" Temp then says, "You know what? Just tell him, or he'll keep asking." I nod, "Trust me, he wouldn't leave me alone until I told him about my now fiancé. He can't help it. He's a newspaperman." Mr. Buxely then says, "Well, that weekend I was away. I, uh, went and bought this." He goes into his locker as he then slams the door taking out Temps book as he smiles, "First edition." He chuckles as Temp smiles gasping, "My first novel." Mr. Buxely then says happily, "You named the killer after me. I'd have shed a tear if my- my duct worked proper."
Temp and I then say at the same time, "Aw." Mr. Buxely then adds, "I thought you might be coming to the reunion. Maybe you could put your pen to it for me, huh? Pretty please." Temp smiles, "With pleasure." Booth then takes out his pen, "Here. Use my pen." Temp takes it, "Thanks, sweetie." She then begins writing, "To the real Ray Buxley..." I watch as both men stare at each other as I watch awkwardly as Temp continues writing, "who taught me... about... death."
Later on we were back at the motel room as I was in Temps as we video call Wendell as he was working with the remains in the bone examination room as we see Angie come in as she asks, "Hey, you said the skull's ready for me?" Temp then asks, "Well, what about the casts of the blade injuries? Still working on them." Angie looks at us, "Hey, sweetie, honey. Wow. That is a crappy motel room." I chuckle a bit nodding as Temp says, "The bed has a magic fingers." I add, "You should've seen how excited she was when she first saw it." Wendell smiles a bit as Angie says, "Okay. I'm gonna drive by that one. How's the reunion?" Temp explains, "I find I am uncomfortable... with people who disliked me in high school." I smile sadly at her as Angie says, "So you're pressed for an I.D. I'll try to be quick with the facial reconstruction."
Wendell then says, "Turns out our victim has a remodeled mandibular fracture. So that should narrow down the search." I ask, "Could we look at that. Could you put it under the medio cam?" He does so as we look at the close up as Angie asks, "Is there a problem." I then explain, "This fracture was made by a blunt object... striking her face at an almost 90-degree angle." Wendell then says, "That's in my notes. Yes. And the remolding gave us an approximate age- about 30." Temp then corrects him, "Thirty-three. She was 33." Angie asks, "Well, how do you know that?" "Because I'm the one who broke her jaw, with a tennis racket. This is one of my classmates. Evelyn Simms." I looked at Temp, "Oh, my..."
We went back to the school as we were behind the trunk of the car as we talked to Sweets as he brings up the photo of the victim, "So this is Evelyn Simms. Wow. Homecoming queen, cheerleading captain, president of the girls service club. A girl like this- she wouldn't have given me the time of day, which of course, makes her that much hotter." I chuckled a bit at him as Booth says, "Sweets, I'm sure you really didn't wanna say that out loud, right?" "It slipped out." I finally released a bit of my chuckle as Temp says, "Everybody loved Evelyn." Booth adds, "A lot of people hated her, too, for being so popular. I mean, you're the one who decked her with a tennis racket." "No, I-I-I never enjoyed playing doubles. Someone is always in your way. Although my classmates thought I hit her on purpose." "Well, perhaps subconsciously you did. I mean, a girl like yourself with marginal social standing... takes out her hostility by striking the popular girl. I mean- it is quite common."
