Hollywood Babylon 1
"First opened in 1972, the lot has been in continuous operation for eight decades." The guide says.
"Hey, you know this is where they filmed Creepshow?" Dean asks the little boy that sat beside him.
"I don't think he cares." Alexis pats Deans knees.
"Now to the right is Stars Hollow. Its the setting for the television series Gilmore Girls. And if we're lucky we might even catch one of the shows stars."
"Come on." Sam looks at Dean and Alexis.
"Let's finish the tour." Dean says.
"Come on." Alexis grabs his arm.
~~~
"Sam, check it out, its Matt Damon." Dean points to the left.
"Yeah, pretty sure that's not Matt Damon."
"No, it is."
"Well, Matt Damon just picked up a broom and started sweeping."
"This is exactly why we don't like to take you places." Alexis scoffs. "You suck the fun out of it."
"Yeah, well, he's probably researching for a role or something." Dean looks at Sam.
"Uh, I don't think so. Hey, this way. Uh, I think Stage 9's this way."
"Come on, man. Lets keep going this way."
"No, come on, we gotta work."
Dean sighs and Alexis groans.
"That's all we do. Work." Alexis complains.
"You two wanted to come to L.A." Sam shrugs.
"Yeah, for vacation. I mean, swimming pools and movie stars. Not to work."
"Exactly." Alexis nods.
"Does this seem like swimming pool weather to you, Dean?" Sam asks, referring to the cold rain that was drizzling. "I mean, its practically Canadian."
"Yeah. I just figured with everything that happened with....Madison, you could use a little R and R." Dean tells him.
"Which is a great idea, that Sam cannot see." Alexis shoves her hands in her pockets.
"Well, maybe I wanna work. It keeps my mind off things."
"Okay. Okay. Alright. So this crew guy, what did he--? He died on set?" Dean asks.
"Uh, yeah. Rumors spreading like wildfire online. They're saying the sets haunted."
"What, like Poltergeist?" Dean questions.
"Awesome." Alexis chuckles.
"Could be a poltergeist." Sam nods.
Alexis shakes her head. "That's not what we meant."
"No, no, no. The movie Poltergeist." Dean corrects him. "You know nothing of your cultural heritage, do you? It was rumored that the set of Poltergeist was cursed. That they used real human bones as, uh, props. Like, at least three actors died in it."
"Yeah, it might be something like that." Sam nods.
"So what's the dead dudes name?" Alexis asks.
"Frank Jaffy."
"Frank Jaffy, you got a death certificate or a coroners report?" Dean questions.
"Well, no, but, uh, its L.A., you know? Might not even be his real name. But the girl who found him, said she saw something. A vanishing figure."
"What's the girls name?"
"Uh, Tara Benchley."
"Whoa, whoa, whoa." Dean says causing them to stop. "Tara Benchley?"
"That is what he said." Alexis sighs.
"From Feardotcom and Ghost Ship, Tara Benchley? Dude, why didn't you say so?"
"Well, so now you're suddenly on board?"
"I'm just--I mean--I'm a fan of her work."
"We kinda gathered that." Alexis nods.
~~~
"Brad, this is a horror movie." Alexis hears someone say as they walk onto set.
"Who says horror has to be dark? Its just--Its depressing. Don't you think?" Brad asks. "Uh, excuse me, uh, green shirt guy." He calls out, pointing to Dean. "Yeah, yeah, you. Come here."
Dean glances at Sam.and Alexis before walking toward him.
"Could you, uh, get me a smoothie from craft?"
"You want a what from who?" Dean asks.
"You are a PA. That is what you do."
Sam and Alexis walk up to them. "Yeah, yeah, he, uh...One smoothie coming right up." Sam nods.
"What's a PA?" Dean asks as the three walk away.
"I think they're kinda like slaves." Sam mutters.
"They're like assistants. You know, get lunch, get the car, get a smoothie. God, you two would get fired so quick." Alexis shakes her head.
~~~
"Thanks." A man says, grabbing a smoothie from the tray Dean carried.
"Hey, you think that's where the ghostly figure was?" Alexis taps Deans arm before pointing upwards.
"Lets find out." Dean sets down the tray, grabbing her hand and pulling her up the stairs. He pulls out an EMF meter.
"Lights." A voice yells right before it went dark.
Alexis pulls out a flashlight as the two continue up the steps.
~~~
"So?" Sam asks when he find Dean and Alexis at a table full of food.
"No EMF anywhere." Dean answers.
"Great. What do you think?"
"Well, I think being a PA sucks."
"I agree with you." Alexis nods.
"But the food these people get, are you kidding me? Look at these things. They're like miniature Philly cheesesteak sandwiches. Their delicious." Dean says, picking one up.
"And I'll take that, thank you." Alexis take it from him. Dean grabs another, offering it to Sam.
"Maybe later."
"What'd you find out about the dead crew guy?"
"Uh, Frank Jaffy was filling in for the day. Nobody knew him or where he lived."
"Oh, great. So you found out as much as I did."
"You didn't find anything." Alexis points out.
"Not quite, I--" Sam cuts himself off when a guy walks up, grabbing a sandwich.
"They're wonderful." Dean calls out after him.
"Listen, I did dig up some stuff about Stage 9's history."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah. Four people died messy here over 80 years. Two suicides and two fatal accidents."
"Which mean four suspects on the vengeful spirit theory." Alexis sighs.
"Right. Just gotta narrow it down more."
"We'll get right on that." Dean grabs Alexis' hand. "Come on, sweetheart."
Dean snatches a stack of papers from a passing woman. "Are you supposed to get one of these?" He asks Tara. "I don't really know what I'm doing so--"
"First day?" Tara asks, glancing between the two.
Alexis nods. "Yep. Our big break."
"You know, I know its really uncool to say this, but I'm a big fan." Dean says. "I loved you in Boogeyman."
"Oh god. What a terrible script. Uh, but thank you."
"Yeah. You found him, right, the dead guy?"
Tara sighs, nodding her head.
"I'm sorry, you probably don't wanna talk about this."
"No, actually its--its okay, but nobody around here really brings it up much. I think they're all scared I'm gonna have some kind of breakdown."
"Well, it must've been awful." Alexis shrugs. "Do you mind me asking what happened?"
"It was horrible. There was all this blood coming from his eyes....and from his mouth, and, uh...I saw this, um....."
"What?" Dean presses.
"I saw this shape. To tell you the truth, I don't know actually...what I saw. I just know I saw it."
"Here you go, Tara." The guy from earlier hands her a drink.
"Thanks, Walter." Tara says before he walks off.
"Uh, so this crew guy, Frank. I mean, did you know him?" Dean asks.
"Uh, no. Not that well."
"That's funny. Its like no one around here actually knew the guy."
"I've got his picture." Tara shrugs.
"You do?" Alexis questions.
"Yeah, I take Polaroid's of all the crew. Its just one of the things you do to kill time on set." Tara explains, flipping through a folder she had in her lap. "Uh, right here." She points to the photo.
"Son of a bitch." Dean mutters.
I know that guy, Alexis thought. At least, she thinks she does.
~~~
Dean and Alexis were walking around, looking for Sam.
"She was totally making the eyes at you and you didn't even notice." Alexis crosses her arms over her chest.
"'The eyes'?" Dean asks, glancing at her.
"Yeah, the 'Let's go find a dark corner and have sex' eyes. She was practically eye raping you. I don't appreciate her eye fucking my man. And you were to dumb to notice."
"Your man?"
"Out of everything I just said that's all you heard?"
"Well, I'm sorry I didn't notice a woman giving me 'the eyes' because I was a little distracted by my girlfriend, who had her hand down my pants."
Alexis scoffs. "My hands was in your back pocket not down your pants. Chill out."
"So were you trying to steal my wallet or grope me?"
"....Can it be both?"
Dean smiles, kissing her cheek. "You're cute when you're jealous."
~~~
"Gerard St. James?" Dean asks as the man opens the door.
"Yes."
"You're still alive. And you're not Frank Jaffy." Sam states.
"Uh, no."
"You were desert soldier #4 in Metalstorm: Destruction of Jared Syn?" Dean asks.
"I was." He nods.
"Told you." Dean lightly taps Alexis' side. "We knew we recognized you. I'm a huge fan." Dean laughs. "Your turn as A tractor crash victim in Critters 3?"
"Critters 3." Gerard laughs. "Alright, well, please, come in."
"Oh, cool." Dean set a hand on Alexis' back.
~~~
"Thanks." Alexis smiles as he hands her a cup of coffee.
"Yeah, it was the producers. I mean, they brought me in for the day to play Frank."
"Just to fake your death?" Dean asks as he takes a cup.
"Well, rumors of a haunted film set. Free publicity. Especially when you're making a horror movie." Gerard shrugs, sitting down across from Dean and Alexis. Sam sits in the chair beside them. "I mean, uh, it already all over the internet."
"Yeah, we know." Sam nods.
"Well, these days, its all about new media. Building buzz. They say, I'm the new Lonelygirl."
"Who?" Dean asks.
"And the ghost Tara saw?" Sam questions.
"Projected on a screen of diffusion."
"Isn't that kinda cruel? Messing with their heads like that?" Dean asks.
"Hey, I just play the part, I don't write the script."
"Still. It seems unnecessarily....mean." Alexis shrugs.
"Speaking of, I'm playing Willy in a dinner theater production of Salesman at Costa Mesa all next month." Gerard picks up a paper, handing it to Dean. "You get a free pepper steak with the coupon."
"Ha. Well, if you're seen in public, won't that ruin the hoax?" Dean asks.
"Please. Ha. Frank and Willy, totally different characters."
"You know what? Thank you very much, Mr. St. James. It was just nagging us, you know. But we're--we're very glad that, you know, you're alive and well."
"Absolutely." Dean nods. "Hey, uh, I wanted yo ask you, what was it like working with Richard Moll?"
Sam gives Dean a look.
"Metalstorm. He was Hurok, king of the Cyclops people." Dean explains.
"Obviously." Alexis rolls her eyes at Sam.
"Gentlemen's gentleman." Gerard shrugs.
"Yeah? Ha-ha. Alright. Pepper steak."
