Venus POV
I am at Wendell's place as we hang out. We are sitting on the couch watching a movie eating our ice cream as I was very fascinated by the movie as I watch intently as I wouldn't notice looking at me once in a while smiling when he see's me very invested in the movie. Once the movie was over, I say, "Wow. That was very beautiful." He smiles, "I told you will like Ponyo." I nod, "The colors they used, and the animation were used very nicely. All right you convinced me." He smiles jumping up raising his arms in the air as he says, "Whoo! I will make sure to pick the best TV for your room." I chuckle at his silliness as I say, "Well, that only means that you will have to hang out with me more often so we could watch more movies on the TV." He chuckles, "You got yourself a deal. I still can't believe that you out of all people wouldn't have a TV." I shrug, "Well I am always doing something, so I never really thought about having a TV, neither does Temp." He nods a bit, "I understand, but it's still a bit weird hearing someone who invents technology to not own a very well-known and common household item." I chuckle, "It does sound a bit weird, but don't you prefer if I were to spend more time with you than the tv?" He smirks, "Aah, you got me there Doll." "Thank you, I do try sometimes." We laugh a bit as he then asks, "What do you want to do now?"
I think for a moment as I smile, "Let's play a game. I don't really know many games though; you have any suggestions?" He thinks for a moment as he then smiles, " I do have a few games in mind." I smile, "All right, what's the first one you have in mind?" I stand up following him into the kitchen as he says, "This game is called 'I'm Going on a Picnic" I nod as he hands me two small glasses of shots and then takes out some alcohol as I ask, "All right... so how does this game work?" We go back to the living room as we sit down across from each other on the ground as we place the materials down on the coffee table as he says, "All right so here's how the game goes, to start, we must go through the alphabet naming items to bring on a picnic. Each time a new item must be added. For example, I may say 'I'm going on a picnic and I'm bringing almonds. Then, you may say 'I'm going on a picnic and I'm bringing almonds and berries. The game will carry on until one of us makes a mistake or forgets one of the items." I nod as I then ask, "And what's with the alcohol?" "That's the punishment if you forget or make a mistake." I nod, "I see... but I'm a very lightweight drinker..." "It's all right. We'll stop playing if you can't handle drinking anymore or whenever you want to stop." I nod convinced, "All right. But I warn you that it won't be my fault if we end this quickly than you thought." He smiles as he then says, "Why don't you start first." I nod, "All right. I'm going on a picnic and I'm bringing apples." He nods, "I'm going on a picnic and I'm brining apple and bananas." "I'm going on a picnic and I'm bringing apples, bananas, and cookies." He laughs a bit, "Of course you would." I smile shrugging, "I love my cookies." "He smiles shaking his head, "I'm going on a picnic and I'm bringing apples, bananas, cookies, and dragon fruit." The game goes on for about 5 more minutes as we are in letter M as Wendell had already drunk twice as I still haven't taken a single shot, meaning that I am winning. I then say, "I'm going on a picnic and I'm bringing apples, bananas, cookies, dragon fruit, egg salad, fan, games, hamburgers, ice cream, jacket, kite, lasagna, and myself."
He continues on as we finally made it to Z where we had some debates on some of the words as he had already 4 shots in total as I had only one as I was feeling it a bit but was still okay to play as Wendell last answer was zip-loc bags. I chuckle a little from the shot as I say, "That was fun." He chuckles to, "Defiantly for you. You only had to drink once." "Hey, don't forget that I am a much lighter drinker than you are. I am already feeling the alcohol a bit with just one." He chuckles, "All right, you want to play another game then?" I nod, "I'm up for it." He smiles going back to the kitchen as he brings out small red cups and places them like a triangle each end of the dining table as I stand up walking over to him as he pours the alcohol into the small red cups as I then ask, "More drinking games?" He nods, "Yup." "You just want to see me drunk don't you." "I am proably more drunk than you so I don't think I will see you drunk tonight." I nod as he continues, "All right this game is called Quarters." "Quarters?" He nods as he takes out two quarters from his pocket as he goes to his sink washing them really quick. He comes back handing me one quarter, "All right so this is how it goes, to play, we will take turns to bounce the quarters off the table with the aim for it to land into a cup of alcohol. If you gets a quarter in, then I must drink whatever is in the cup and it goes the same if I make it." I nod, "All right, since I went first last game you could start." He nods, "All right, but I am confident I will win this one." I chuckle, "Let's see about that." He goes first as he bounces the quarter off the table making it into one of the 10 cups as he smiles, "All right, first try." I grab the cup that the quarter landed in as I drink it making sure I don't drink the quarter with it. I cringe a bit at the taste of the alcohol not really used to the taste as he says, "All right you're turn." I nod as I aim and bounce the quarter into a cup as I smile, "First try too." He sighs grabbing the cup and drinking it. He then goes next as he bounces the quarter only to miss a cup this time as he groans a bit then says, "It's all right, I'll get it next time." I nod giggling as I go next, I make it as he takes a shot again.
We go back and forth as he got in total three as I got six already as he says, "You're good at this game as well. What are you not good at?" I giggle feeling the effect of the alcohol as I say, "Intaking alcohol... I'm already out..." He looks at me as he chuckles seeming also being the same state as me as he says, "You're right about being light on alcohol... You only had four shots in total to become drunk..." I giggle nodding, "Ah... you're in the same state as me already... I think I'm done playing for today..." He nods agreeing as we stumble a bit as we sit onto the couch. I was just giggling because of the alcohol as Wendell smiles chuckling a bit as well looking at me as he then says, "You know... you're really cute doll... especially when you smile and laugh for me... I like that a lot..." I looked at him smiling, "Awww, Bub I also think your cute too..." I continue to giggle a bit more as we looked at each other eyes for a moment, just staring at each other as we unconsciously lean closer to each other as Wendell then leans all the way kissing me. I melt into the kiss as we then separate looking at each other for a bit as he then says slowly, "Sorry... I shouldn't have done that without asking..."
I quickly cut him off as I say blushing, "I-I don't mind..." He just looks at me seeing my blushing face as I am not sure if it was mostly from the alcohol or embarrassment as I continue, "I actually enjoyed it..." He takes in my words for a moment as he then has these look in his eyes that I never seen before as he then quickly leans into me bringing me back into another kiss. But this one felt different, more passionate as the kiss deepens even more. I don't mind it as I actually enjoy it as I wrap my arms around his neck deepening the kiss even more. His hands are on my hips as he guides me onto his lap not breaking the kiss. After a bit we separate again regaining our breaths for a moment panting as we looked at each other with the same lusting eyes as we go into another deep and passionate kiss. We don't separate as he begins standing up holding me up as my legs wrap around him to keep me steady as he brings me into his room.
I wake up the next morning groaning, while rubbing my head. Wondering what happened I look around seeing that I am not in my room. I felt a cool breeze making me shiver a bit from the unexpected coldness as I look down at myself as I see that I am naked. My eye's widen as I lift the covers to cover myself as I try to think what happened to me last night as I look around the room. I hear something shuffle a bit next to me as I look over to my right side. My eye's widen even more seeing that I was sleeping next to an asleep naked Wendell. I slowly start connecting the dots as an image of last night popped into my head. I started turning red by the second as I look away from him. I realized that I had sex with Wendell and not only that it was my first time ever doing this with someone. I started panicking a bit since even though I like Wendell a lot, we were drunk, and I don't even know if he likes me same way that I liked him. I looked around the room finding discarded clothes on the ground as I quickly but quietly get out of bed only to feel myself onto the ground. I didn't notice my legs giving out on me as I blush as I just pushed myself up again looking over to see Wendell still peacefully asleep as I walk as steadily as I can grabbing my clothes putting them back on. I then quietly go out of the room shutting the door softly as I grab my stuff checking my phone seeing it was 5:00 am. We had both had to be at the lab by 6:30 am. So he would be waking up around 30 minutes.
I decided to cook him some breakfast before I left since I didn't want him to see that I left without any thought. I finished making some breakfast for him and wrote a quick note that I had to be at the lab early and left it on the table. I quickly leave seeing that it was 5:15 am as I head to my car driving to the lab. I begin blushing every time I think about that night that I could only remember some small snips of it. But then I get a headache again because of the alcohol. I get to the Jeffersonian as I went straight to my office to change into some clothes that had bought for me. Saying that 'Every woman needs some back up clothing close by just in case of any emergency.'
It was 6:15 am as I started walking towards the lab as I then see some security guards walking over to me with a group of girl scouts behind them all holding something as he says, "Dr. Venus, these people here brought a body. My eyes widen a bit as I look over to the side seeing the girls who happen to be the Woodchucks that we administered here at the Jeffersonian smiling at me as they had human remains and some boxes of what I believe evidence as I say, "Oh... okay. I'll handle this." The security guards' nods as I step up to the group of girls, "Hello..." All the girls were smiling at me as well as their counselors as one girl says, "We found a body and wanted to bring it over to Dr. Brennan." I nod, "Dr. Brennan?" They all nods smiling excitedly, "Yes, we love Dr. Brennan and her work." I smile a little bit, "I am glad to hear that you all admire my sister." They all looked at me shocked for a moment as one of them asks, "Are you perhaps Dr. Venus Brennan." I nod, "Yes, that is me." They all then squeal in delight fangirling about me as I blush a bit at their enthusiasm, they had for me. But I also got a headache flinching a bit as I then say, "Thank you very much. I am happy that you all also like me as well, but I think it's better if I were to take that body from you and you all get to see the lab that my colleges and I work in?" They all cheer in excitement as I checked the time seeing it was 6:25 am. Most of the team should be here by now as I escort the scouts into the lab as I see Cam and Hodgins not to far as I wave at them. They look at me and then behind me seeing the scouts. They looked confused wondering why they are here as I walk up to the platform sliding my card allowing all of us up as I say to the two, "Good morning, you two."
Cam says, "Morning..." Hodgins adds, "Are you doing at tour?" I shake my head, "No, not yet. These wonderful Woodchuck scouts had found a body and brought it right to us." They both freeze in place trying to grasp what I said as Cam says, "Uh, excuse me?" A girl nods, "We found a body and brought it over here for both Dr. Brennan's." Hodgins then says, "Fan's I assume of you and your sister?" I nod, "It seems so. But what's even more delightful is that they gather evidence for us and samples of where they found the body." Two girls come up front showing the two the boxes filled with samples as Hodgins says amazed, "These girls are pros." I nod as I then say, "Yes, they are, and they are hoping to meet Temp as well." Cam nods, "I see... well they could wait down at the platform." I nod as I face the girls, "All right Woodchucks, I need you all to place the body on the table as carefully as you can and make your way down these steps so we could begin the examination until you all get to meet my sister." They all cheer loudly as I flinch again from the noise that brings pain to my head from the loud noise. But I push it aside as Hodgins says, "Ah, I forgot my jacket in my car. I'll be back. I nod, "All right. I also think Temp should be arriving by now. So if you see her, please update her about this matter when you come back." He nods leaving as the girls do what I say as Cam says looking at me, "Something's different about you..." I look at her nodding, "I have a huge headache if that's what you mean..." She shakes her head, "No, it's more like your glowing and you look very stunning in that outfit today." I blush at her compliment, "Thanks... but to be honest I really don't know what I did..."
She looked at me confused, "You don't know what you did?" I nod, "Let's just say that I was testing my tolerance of alcohol last night and after that... I can't really recall anything that much." She looked at me confused, "You drank? It's not like you to drink." I nod, "I know... and now I regret drinking... my head hurts from all the alcohol that I drank." "How much did you drink?" "Four shots." She looked at me shocked and asked, "Four?" I nod as she says, "I didn't take you to be a light drinker." "Yeah, that's why I really don't drink that much." We see Temp and Hodgins by the platform as Hodgins says to the Woodchucks, "Okay, now, this is Dr. Temperance Brennan." The girls applaud for her as Temp looked confused as they both come up to the platform with us. Temp asks us, "Why are they applauding?" Cam answers as I rub my head a bit, "Apparently, you're their role model along with Venus." Hodgins then asks as we surround the table where the victim is, "What I wanna know is why they aren't all freaked out... and getting trauma counseling." Cam answers again, "Because they're the type of children who idolize Dr. Brennan." I smile as I say, "So, they were eco-camping on the banks of the Savage River." Cam adds, "These remains are completely saturated." "The Woodchucks fished the body out of the river and brought it over to us." Temp asks. "How?"
One of the girls answer, "In our Woodchuck bus." I nod, "Very impressive." Temp looks at me, "I disagree. Those Woodchucks disturbed a federal crime scene. The area should have been secured; samples taken." Hodgins then says, "Yeah, they did all that. Uh, water samples from the river where the body was found." Another girl adds, "Digital photographs of the entire area." I add, "Plant, insects, soil samples tagged with G.P.S. coordinates. And Hodgins and I know our soil samples and let us tell you something." Hodgins continued for me, "These ladies- they are pros." Cam then tells Temp, "Prehaps you should throw them a bone." Temp looks at her as Cam says quickly, "Not literally. Metaphorically. After all, they were very professional." Temp clears her throat and stands at the top of the stairs looking at the girls, "Attention Woodchucks. You were thorough and assiduous... in your treatment of the body and the crime scene." The girls clap happily as Temp continues, "But next time, please leave the evidence where you found it... and let the experienced professionals do their job." We all looked at Temp as the girls started to boo at her as one girl says, "But we helped!" "You're mean!" They were loud as the headache was growing louder as Temp says to us, "Their moods are capricious." I then say, "You couldn't have just let them have that one, let it go by?" "Then they'd never learn." I sigh as I step up as I say, "Woodchucks." They girls quiet down as I say, "Even though it does sound harsh what my sister says she is correct." They were about to boo again as I continue, "But that is just because she cares more about all of your safety. Even though you were all excellent at what you did and it is highly impressive, your safety and health is much more important to us than you doing this to impress us. That is why she suggested to let professional's do it instead, since they do have more experience in their line of work and much better knowing that you all are okay rather than one of you getting hurt for doing this wonderful deed for us. Do you all understand?"
All the girl's nod understandingly as I give them a smile, "Now, since you all have done a wonderful job today, I believe that the Jeffersonian gives you a nice tour of the place as well as providing breakfast and lunch of your choice and at the end you will all get a badge of the Jeffersonian for your task today. What do you all think?" The girls cheer loudly as I flinch again as one of the girls then say, "Could we ask for one more thing?" I look at her, "And what would that be?" "You're autograph." All the girls nod in excitement as I blush, "Oh my, you all are so adorable, how could I not accept that request. All right, but you all need to line up all right." The girls cheer getting in line as Cam comes over handing me some blank pieces of papers and a pen as I begin writing something for each girl and signing it. Once I was done I had an employee and a guard escort them around the Jeffersonian. I sigh as I had to sit down since I feel very much sore in the bottom region. As I take a seat on one of the stools I get a bit of pain on the hip as I jump slightly startling the others as they look at me as I say, "Oops sorry... didn't mean to startle you all. It's just I have this slight hip pain and I just can't seem to recall what I did..." Temp and Hodgins looked at me confusing as Cam answers, "Alcohol." They looked at me surprised for a moment as I say, "Wanted to see if my tolerance improved." Temp asks, "Did it?" I nod, "I improved by one shot." Hodgins adds, "So how many in total?" "Four." He just smiles trying not to laugh as Temp says seeing my sitting a bit in discomfort, "You should go see a chiropractor, if you're really feel discomfort." Cam nods, "I agree. I haven't seen you ever sit down in discomfort; you should get it checked out. I have some good recommendations if you want." I smile at their kindness, "Thank you. But I am sure I'll be alright." Cam nods, "I'll just right them down for you just in case." I nod as Temp then says looking at my outfit, "How did you change if you didn't come home last night?" They all looked at me curiously as I then say, "I changed here in my office." She nods, "Makes sense, I never seen that outfit before, plus I hope you do realize that you're not wearing a bra under that."
I nod recalling earlier that morning that I couldn't find my bra in Wendell's room as I had to come here with no bra, "Yes, sadly I didn't have an extra one and even so, Angie picked this outfit. But it's a bit too snug for me on the chest area, but I'll be able to breath fin still." She nods as Cam says, "Well, we should get this body to my workspace and Hodgins will take the samples the girls brought." I nod agreeing as we all looked at Hodgins seeming not to be paying attention at what Cam said, but instead he seemed to be staring at my chest as I begin to blush as Cam says, "Hey, eyes off your boss." He slowly takes his eyes off me as he says, "Huh? Yeah... Got it. Samples... I'll go now." He shakes he head clearing his throat taking the samples leaving. Once he leaves my blush doesn't go away as I say, "Men." The two-nod agreeing as they also say, "Men."
3rd POV
Cam and Wendell are in her workspace with the victim as Wendell groans in disgust, "What cause a corpse to smell like a fart?" Cam then says, "Uh, a number of things. A compromised intestinal tract, methane, some mining processes, oil and gas refining, volcanoes." "Volcanoes? Awesome. Which of those is it this time?" "Probably sulfur. Tissue samples indicate a high concentration of hydrogen sulfide." Wendell nods looking at the X-rays, "X-rays indicate this is a middle-aged male... between 170 and 190 centimeters tall. Skeleton is... pretty banged up." "Well, bouncing around the Savage River for two months will do that." Wendell brings up the image of the victims hands, "All the distal phalanges are missing from the inner phalangeal joints." "He's missing his fingers. What does that tell you?" "Tells me it was the mob snipping off fingerprints." "That very well may be, but what it tells me... is you're going out to look for fingertips in case the Woodchucks missed them."
He stops looking at her confused, "Body was found by woodchucks?" She nods, "You just missed them, Venus took them all to eat breakfast." He looked at her even more curious when she mention her name. "Oh, so she's not here right now." Cam nods, "Yup, Woodchucks insisted taking her with them." "Why?" "Take Hodgins. He'll explain." He looked confused, but nods as he went to get Hodgins. Both men are down in the parking lot as they talked about the case as Hodgins asks, "Hydrogen sulfide?" "Yeah, guy's full of it." "So he smells basically like a fart?" "Had to be pretty strong to cover up the rotting corpse smell, right? Hey, maybe somebody drenched him in sulfur to deal with the dead body stench. Or somebody tried to put him in suspended animation. That involves sulfides." "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Are you referring to ultra-secret military experiments... to prolong life... by inducing hibernation?" "Uh, it's not ultra-secret. The army is doing field trials. I got a cousin in Iraq. It maybe saved his life." "It's not ultra-secret?" "Look man. The trouble with getting your info from conspiracy nuts is they never know when to turn it off." "Yeah, you wait and see. We're gonna find that our victim was tortured a little too enthusiastically, and then the government tried to bring him back to life."
They get to Hodgin's car opening the doors as Wendell says to him, "Proving my point there, Hodgins. Totally proving my point. Hey, should we call the military possibility in to Venus or Booth?" Hodgins quickly answer, "Booth!" This confused Wendell a bit, "Whoa, wasn't that a little too excited?" Hodgins sighs, "Look, just tell Booth only." "Why? I'm sure Venus would have some sort of idea or information about this as well?" Hodgins then asks, "How much do you know about Venus and the military?" "Well, I know that she served in the military for 5 years before coming to work at the Jeffersonian and she was recruited to be in a experimental military program, seeing that they wanted to see how training a kid at a young age would benefit them." Hodgins nods, "All right, yeah that's right, but before when I was a huge conspires theorist, I tried looking for any information about that program, but I couldn't find anything." "Well, I am sure the government doesn't release about everything." Hodgins nods, "Yeah. Even so, I still think we should withhold it from Venus. She's not feeling that well today." Wendell looks at him with concern since he hasn't seen her since last night. "Is she all, right?" "Yeah, she said that she would be fine. But she has been having a headache from drinking last night apparently, which is amusing for itself." Wendell nods in the process of getting inside the car as Hodgins adds, "Apparently she also has some hip pain when she sits down, and she doesn't quite remember what she did to have it." Wendell blushes hardly as he tries standing up fast only to hit the top of his head at the door frame harshly as he winces in pain.
He only remembers bits and parts of last night and he definitely recalls and knows how she got hip pain. Hodgins winces a bit hearing Wendell hit his head, "Are you all right there pal?" Wendell stands back up out of the car as he rubs his head nodding as he clears his throat, "Yeah, I'm fine. But I'll tell Booth then." Hodgins nods, "Yeah. Ooh, just leave out my torture theory." Wendell nods as they both get inside the car. As they drive out to the location Wendell thinks about last night and the bits and pieces that he recalls making him smile. He's happy that him and Venus had a intimate night. Which gives him high hopes to officially ask her out as something more than friends. But to his disappointment when he woke up this morning, she was not in bed with him, which only made him worry that it was a dream. But when he noticed that he was naked and with his discarded clothes on the ground he knew something happened as he collected his clothes only to find Venus's bra laying under his shirt confirming that they had sex last night.
And when he went out of his room, he sees on his dining table breakfast and a note from Venus saying that she had to leave earlier for work. Hodgins notices him in deep thought as he asks bringing him back, "What got you thinking?" Wendell hums a bit, "Oh. Sorry, I was just hoping that I would be able to catch Venus today. I have some things that I need to discuss with her." Hodgins chuckles a bit, "Well, you're not the only one today." Wendell looks at him confused, "What? Why?" Hodgins smirks, "Many of the guys at the Jeffersonian are trying to get some time to talk to her, well, more than usual." Wendell begins to feel a pang of jealousy as he asks as calmly as he can, "How come?" "Well, when you see her, you'll understand." Wendell nods now even more determined to find her and talk to her as soon as he can.
Venus POV
Back at the lab Temp and I are in Angie's workplace as Booth comes in, "Oh, so, you got a face of the victim?" We look at him as Temp asks, "Why are you here? Ven or I would have called." "Well, I thought Hodgins might have something... on this whole 'suspended animation' thing." Booth hands me the file looking at me confusingly for a second then looks at me up and down as Angie says, "Hey, you listened to Hodgins?" "Listened to Wendell... What's with the outfit Blueberry? Aren't you cold? Don't you want to cover up a bit?" I looked at him, "This is all I had at the office." Angie nods smiling, "I chose it out. I know, I'm a genius, she looks hot in that outfit, more like glowing. I am for sure she's gonna get a lot of numbers today." I shake my head sighing as Booth says, "Only thing that she's going to attract are useless hounds. Not on my watch." Angie just smiles playfully shaking her head at Booth as I open the file as Temp asks looking at it as well, "What is DARPA?" I answer drily, "It's a Department of Defense agency. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency."
Angie then adds, "Hodgins says they're into some pretty weird stuff, like creating super soldiers who don't need sleep and can kill with their laser beam eyes." I frown intensely hatting that place the most as I know it all to well as Booth looks at me seeing my dislike as he says, "Well, I don't know about the 'laser beam eye' thing. But they did have a master Sergent go missing about a couple months ago." My hands tighten the file harder as Temp asks, "Was the sergeant involved with the hydrogen sulfide trials?" "Well, they wouldn't confirm. But I'll tell you what. They sounded nervous." I then say lowly but loud enough that the others could hear me, "Of course those bastards would be, after how they messed up last time." They all look at me as my eyes were tearing up from anger recalling my past again and all of my family that suffered alongside with me. I get an immense headache as I rub my forehead as I feel two hands on my shoulders as I look seeing both Angie and Temp looking at me with worried eyes. I calm down as I then say, "It's all right... I'll be alright. Let's just continue..." They nod as Angie looks at the file this time, "There's no photograph in here." I nod, "DARPA doesn't give out any photos." Booth adds, "You give me the reconstruction, though, I can show them that, and they can tell us if we got their guy. So, what do you have?"
Angie looks at me and Temp not sure if she should show him as I nod approving as she says, "Okay. Before you freak out, you should know that I double- and triple-checked the measurements and indicators. " Booth scoffs, "Okay, look. I don't freak out." Booth looks at Temp and I, "Do I freak out?" We shrug a bit, "Some-Sometimes." "Can we just see the image, please?" Angie nods pressing a button making the victim appear as Booth laughs a bit then looks at her, "Yeah, what's that supposed to be?" Angie shrugs, "Half man, half chicken." "Come on." Temp then says, "I believe this to be fairly accurate." Booth looks at me as I nod agreeing, "Okay, so you want me to go ask the Defense Department... if their experimental super soldier is half man, half chicken?" I scrunch my face a bit as I say, "I hope not. I would prefer him to be a chicken farmer, instead."
