-Venus POV-

We are driving over to a wake as Booth says, "This poor guy was only 50." I nod as Temp says, "They say cause of death was cardiac failure resulting from a congenital defect." "You're not gonna talk like that when we get there, right?" "Like what?" "You know, it's a wake, Bones; it's not a crime scene. You know, 'Hey I'm sorry for your loss.' 'How are you holding up?' Stuff like that." "I know, I just don't agree with the social convention which requires us to attend a daylong grieving ritual simply because the deceased worked at the Jeffersonian." "Try not to say 'the deceased." I sweat drop a bit as I look over at Booth, "Ranger, if I die I want you to plan my funeral... I don't think my dead body would appreciate in what she plans on doing to me once I'm gone." I then looked at Cam, "And please make they make my face look decent for showing." I then look at Hodgins, "Get a bull mastiff and name them after me." They all nod as Temp says, "It's not like any of us knew this Dr. Reilly personally."

Hodgins spoke first, "I knew him. It was Hank. Hank was a prince." Cam adds, "I talked to him just last week about Michelle. How to get her to stop smoking." Booth and I ask, "She's smoking?" Booth adds, "She's smoking what?" "Cigarettes. I've been her legal guardian for a month,  and I'm already a total failure." Booth then says, "She's 16. She's just trying to test you, that's all." "Maybe we should just focus on Hank." Temp then says, "Whoa, I think I remember him. Curly blond hair, blue eyes, glasses..." I chuckle, "No wrong person Temp." Booth adds, "Nope, dark hair, balding." Temp looks at him surprised, "You don't even work at the Jeffersonian. How do you know him?" "The guy ran the best fantasy football league in DC." Hodgins adds, "Oh, man... Oh, man, I still owe him 20 bucks." Booth adds, "Come to think about it, you know what,  he owed me 20 bucks. Great, how am I gonna get that back?" I shrug, "You don't. But I've been over to Hanks home many times for dinner with his family."

We made it to the the residence of Hank as we meet up with Angie and Sweets as Temp says, "There are a lot of people here whom I recognize." Angie tells her, "Well, they're from work, honey." Hodgins then says, "There's Amy Valeska." I nod, "That's Hank's assistant." Cam adds, "Oh, she looks really upset." Sweets then says, "Grief can be very difficult to process, so if anyone needs to talk..." Booth interrupts him, "That's why they have booze, Sweets." "Right." I then look over at the mother, "Hank's mother over there is very rich." Angie adds, "Something to do with dry cleaning." I nod whispering, "She never seemed to fond of Hank every time I saw her though." Someone then comes over to us, "Director Brennan, I am honored that you made it." I nod shaking his hand, "I'm very sorry about Hank." He nods then looks at Temp, "Dr. Temperance Brennan?" Temp nods, "Yes. Hello." "Hank and your sister said that you worked at the museum, but I didn't think you'd be here. I-I'm Barney, Hank's brother." Booth whispers something to her as she says, "I'm sorry for your loss." "Yeah, I'm an author. A writer, like you. I mean, I write thrillers. I've read all of yours. So when I first meet your younger sister Director Brennan and how much good things she said about you. It really got me more inspired in writing my books." I chuckle a bit embarrassed as Temp nods.

We then hear the funeral director speak, "Ladies and gentlemen, after you take a moment with the deceased, please join us in the family room for refreshments and reminiscences." We all nod going inside the room Hank was in as one by one people go up to see Hank as I was about to go. But I stopped seeing Booth trying to get Temp to go as well. I go over to her and take out my hand, "C-could... you come up with me... I don't do really well.... with-with seeing the ones I know... you know, passed on." I look at the ground as I felt her hand in mine as I look up at her seeing her giving me a supportive smile. I smile back gratefully as we walked up to Hank looking down at him. I give Temp a small squeeze as she gives me one back. I the see her reaching over grabbing the rose to place it back on his chest. But she seemed to notice something as she lets go of my hand and starts feeling Hank. I looked at her wide eyes as I just look back down putting a hand on her back and stepping closer to her so no one could see what she was doing as she opens his shirt feeling him.

Booth had came over to us whispering, "Okay, Bones, Blueberry, you both suck at this. You're staring way to long at this guy, okay? And by the way it looks with Blueberry holding your back, people are gonna start thinking Bones had a thing for him." Temp then whispers to us, "This man was murdered." I ask, "What?" Booth says, "Heart attack." Temp shake her head, "No..." "He had a heart attack." "No, Booth, Ven, this man was murdered. Hank Reilly did not die from congenital heart failure. He was murdered." I then say, "Oh, gosh... can't we just once have a normal death... why us?" We made our way outside as Booth gives Temp and I two different drinks as Temp says, "This is whisky." Booth then says, "Well, it's a wake, Bones, okay? There's drinking involved." I then say, "Mine is apple juice..." "Well, you're a very light drinker... you wouldn't be able to last half of the wake before passing out." I nod drinking my apple juice as Temp says, "We should remain clear-headed so we can solve the murder." I then say, "I am." Booth clears his throat, "Cod word, okay? For 'murder." Temp and I nod, "Okay." "I want you two to say 'translation,' you understand? Translation, got it?" Temp and I both nod understanding as she says, "Someone translated Dr. Reilly, and we have to find out who."

Booth sighs, "Bones, is there any chance you just feel bad about not knowing this guy like the rest of us did? So, now you're just making it about you in saying that he was translated instead of, I don't know, dying of natural causes?" I shake my head, "Ranger... Temp is defiantly not feeling bad about not knowing him. If she says that it's murder, then it is. So, there is no chance of that." Booth then asks, "What makes you think he was translated?" Temp then starts explaining, "Okay, the rose that his assistant placed on his chest had fallen to the side. So, I reached in to put it back and I touched him." "Whoa, you touched him?! You didn't stop her?!" I shake my head, "Everything happened so fast that I panicked a bit and did the first thing I could think of and shielded her from the views of other." Temp adds, "I touch dead people all the time, Booth. Well, I felt cracked ribs. Left two through four." Booth tells Temp, "Drink up, will you?" "Why?" "Cause I'm hoping you're just a bit like Blueberry and you're gonna pass out." "Booth, we are talking about translation."

We all sit down as Booth says, "Bones, Blueberry, you ever think that, I don't know, if there was evidence of foul translation,  that the coroner would have spotted it?" I nod, "Yes. They would have." "Fine, so, I'll tell you what. Tomorrow morning we will go find the guy who did the autopsy and we'll ask him questions." I wince a bit, "But, Dr. Reilly's scheduled to be cremated this afternoon." Temp stops him, "All the evidence will be destroyed. We have to get an injunction so that we can examine the remains." Booth asks, "Now? You want me to take the body now?" Temp nods, "Yes." I then ask, "Wouldn't the family be scarred for life?" Booth nods, "Yes they will." "Booth, the man has been translated." Booth sighs in frustration then turns to us, "Okay, fine. Fine, fine, fine. Triple fine, all right? I'll call for an injunction. In the meantime, go into the family room there where they're doing toasts, okay? Take her there Blueberry and keep an eye on her." I nod giving him a small salute. Before we leave Booth says, "Bones? Put on a sad face." Temp tries as it looks like a bit of a smile as I say, "Temp, sad." Booth shows her as she does it as he nods, "Keep that face sad. That's it. That's it. All right, let's look at yours Blueberry." I nod putting on my best remorseful face as Booth nods, "That's really good. You could really trick me."

I lead Temp back inside as we head to the family room. We are now watching Hanks wife Helen who is drunk speak, "I loved... Hank Reilly. I still love him! And why not? He was... a good husband. A good man. The little things are what life's about. The routine." Cam then whispers to us, "Hank said I should ground Michelle. But I don't want to be the enemy. She's only been with me for a month, you know?" I just nod as Hodgins says, "Really, now?" "Oh, right." We listen back to Helen as she says, "Every morning, I brewed his tea for him steeped just the amount he liked it." She starts sobbing, "What am I going to do now, in the mornings? Without Hank?" She sobs even more walking away being hugged by the funeral director. I then see Dr. Amayo walk up as he says, "I-I'm Jonah Amayo. Hank and I started at the Jeffersonian at the same time. He was head of Egyptology. I lead the Caribbean department." Temp and I excused ourselves as I just follow her. We make inside the room Hank was put in as I sit and watch Temp looking over at Hank. A few minutes later Booth opens the door and says, "Bones, Blueberry, what are you doing?" He sees Temp as he says, "Will you stop playing with the body?!" I then ask, "Did you get the injunction?" "No, the judge turned us down." Temp asks, "W-why?" "Why? Because both the paramedics and the medical examiner said that Reilly here died of heart failure. No evidence of translation." "But I am contradicting them. My record and credentials..." "Okay, look, the judge said he didn't want to grant a request to an author of pulp mystery books just because she wanted to get a little free publicity. There, I said it." I wince, "Ooh, that's cold." He nods as Temp says, "That man is a fool. They are not pulp." I nod, "Definitely not pulp. I guess he's just not a fan of your Temp. You win some and lose some."

Booth nods agreeing as he adds, "At least he was right about,  you know, the paramedics and the medical examiner." Temp then says, "I will get the judge the proof he needs. I just need you two to guard the door." I stand up as Booth grabs her, "Get away from the body. Get away from the body." I see them tugging as we hear Cam from the door, "Guard the door?" We all stop facing her as she asks, "From what?" I cough, "I think we need to take this conversation outside from others ears." The two nod as we take Cam outside as Temp shows a picture of Hank with his shirt open as Cam asks her, "You undressed the deceased?" "No, I didn't have to. It was slit up the back. I just had to untuck him." I then cleared my throat, "Could you just look at the picture Cam?" She sighs as Temp shows her the picture again as she takes a closer look taking her phone, "Huh. There was no mention of this contusion in the medical examiner's report." Booth asks, "Meaning?" "This bruise was sustained later." I add, "Corpses' don't bruise." "Whoa, wait. So, Hank was alive after he was declared dead?" We nod as Cam says, "Sure looks that way." "Where did the body go after the medical examiner?" "The funeral home. For embalming." I look at Temp and Booth, "We should talk to the funeral director." They nod as we go back inside the home as we go upstairs looking for the funeral director as we open a door looking inside a room.

I open one not seeing anyone as I close it. I look at Booth as I shake my head as he does as well. Temp then comes over to us, "Booth! Ven!" She starts smashing her hands together in a wave like motion as Booth asks, "What? What?!" She looks at us a bit disbelief, "The widow and the undertaker." She starts doing the hand gesture again as I try figuring out as Booth asks, "What, they were dancing?" I sigh, "I give up Temp. What is it?" "Sexual intercourse." Booth and I say at the same time, "Oh." Booth adds, "How are we supposed to get sexual intercourse from that?" He does the hand motion as I chuckle as Temp says, "It's very obvious." "Oh, is it?" "No, this is obvious." He does a different hand gesture as I just chuckle at them. We then hear Helen say, "This is my house now, and I can do who I want in it." I move out of the way as Booth says, "Obviously." She leaves as Booth continues, "Okay, there you go." We then see the funeral Director come out as well fixing himself as Booth says, "So, uh, you do this a lot there?" "It's my job to comfort the bereaved."

I then grab Booths sleeve pulling it a bit as I say to him, "Oh, I don't want people comforting others like that on my wave of funeral, just keep that in mind just in case I die." Booth nods as Temp says, "Well, it is also your duty  to report any damage the body sustained during your preparation of it." She shows him the picture as he asks, "What? When did you take that? You molested the body?" "No." Booth takes out his badge, "FBI." "Wow, FBI?" "You want to explain how the bruises got on that body?" "The infusion of embalming fluid increases the stainability of bruises on the dermis. A bruise not seen immediately post-mortem often presents itself post-embalming." I nod understanding as Booth says, "Okay, is it good enough for you?" I then ask, "What about the rib breaks?" "Rib breaks and sternum cracks, which I noted in his file, were the result of Dr. Reilly's assistant attempting to revive him with CPR after finding him unconscious in his office. May I go? I have more work to do." Booth nods, "Right. Right. Sure, you have to go take car of his mother now, too?" I cringe a bit as I ask Booth, "Really?!" He shakes his head, "Nah, I'm just messing with him." I nod as he asks ,"So, either of you still think he was translated?"

I sigh, "Everything he said made sense and would fit, but those are not the ribs that would break during CPR." Booth looks at me, "You touched him too?!" I nod, "Temp needed a second confirmation, it's not like I wanted to." "Maybe she was just bad at resuscitation." Temp shakes her head, "No, Booth, this is translation. We need to do a full examination of the body at the lab." Booth sighs in frustration, "But we do not have an injunction." I look between the two, "Wait... so does that mean we are going to... take Hank one last road to the lab?" Temp nods, "Yes. Let's go." I sigh, "Aw, man. Could we just once not have something like these happen to us." Booth sighs as well, "I feel ya Blueberry. I feel ya. You know what! You and I are going on vacation and have no one call us about work or anything." I nod, "That sounds very ideal. I'm in." We make our way over to Hank as Temp watches the door for us as Booth and I were chosen to carry out Hank.

We were finally able to take him out through the Window as Booth carried his top half as I carry the bottom half and Temp was following behind us making sure no one sees us. We are walking through the back yard by the pool. Temps accidently bumps into me making me drop Hanks legs as Booth starts arguing with Temp as I get them to focus on the task again. I see Hodgins looking at us as I tell him to keep on talking and distract them. Temp and Booth decided to carry Hank a different way as they take each side of his arm as I let go of his legs as they drag him as I tell Hodgins to keep on going and that he was doing great as we quickly leave. We make it to the drive way as Cam has Angela's car parked right in front ready to go as Booth says to Temp, "Come on... Hurry up, Bones. You should've let Blueberry help carry him. She's much stronger than you and knows how to carry better." "Why are you telling me to hurry up?" "Just hurry up. Walk with me, okay?" Cam comes to us as she tells Temp, "Your sequoia was, uh... it was blocked so I grabbed Angela's Matrix." I then say, "We should never mention this to Angie." Cam nods as Temp asks, "Is there enough room?" "It'll be fine. There's lots of room." I open the door for them as Booth says, "Here we go, in the car. I got him."

Temp goes into the car first as we push Hank inside as well as Booth says, "Let's just stuff him in." Temp asks, "Oh, shouldn't we lie him down?" Booth and I shake our heads saying, "No, no no." Booth adds, "You'd get stopped you got a damn corpse. This way, he just looks drunk. Okay." They finally get him in and put the seatbelt on him. I was about to go around to the passenger seat as Booth stops me as he says to Cam and Temp, "See you later."  Temp then says, "Whoa, whoa, whoa, Aren't you both coming with us?" "No, we can't. We got to make sure no one looks in the casket." I nod, "Just go." I close the door, "Drive! Go!" Booth nods looking at Cam, "What are you waiting for? Go! Go!" They start leaving as we watch Hanks head bang against the window as I cringed, "We really need that vacation Ranger." He nods, "Yeah... we really do." We start heading back inside the house.

Booth and I were waiting in the room where Hank is supposed to be as we see the door open as Angie walks in as she closes it and comes over to us asking, "Hey, you stole the body?" I sigh as Booth says, "No, no, no, no, we didn't steal it. You see, we-we borrowed it, okay?" I nod, "Cam and Temp think he was translated." Angie asks, "What?" "Translated. It's code for 'murder." Booth nods, "That's how we're saying it today: translated." Angie nods, "O-okay, what if somebody looks in the coffin?" Booth points at him and I, "That's exactly why we're here." We hear someone coming into the room as I say, "Oh, hi, Mrs. Reilly." "Hello dear, uh, would you excuse me, please? I... I have a few private things to say to my son before he's cremated." Booth then says, "That's really not a great idea right now, ma'am." "Why?" "Well, there's a..." Angie jumps in as Booth was quiet for a moment, "Th-the fact is, um, the undertaker... Uh, he didn't graduated at the top of his class, so..." "But I just saw Hank earlier."

I nod, "Yes. Yes, you did, but I just saw him right now and I was real shocked at what I saw." Angie adds, "The-the putty that they use to fill in the face has sort of... melted, and, um, his nose is sort of going to the side. Uh, and his hair is like Hitler. Booth and I say at the same time, "Hitler." Mrs. Reilly asks, "Hitler?" I nod, "Yes that is why I think it would be best if you let Mr. Tung fix him up before you see your son. I don't want you last image of him to be that." She nods understanding as Barney comes inside seeing his mother, "There you are." "Oh, turn around, Barney. We can't see Hank, not like this." "Like what?" "Like Hitler." "What?" "Well, please. We're going. Now." "Have you been drinking?" "No." They leave the room as we looked at each other.
