-Venus POV-
We had just received another case as this time the body was shipped from Norway. I signed the last papers as Temp asks, "Norway?" I nod, "Yup, they had shipped this right over to us in means to solve it." Cam then says, "We don't have enough crucified corpses of our own? Now the Vikings are sending them?" I shrug as Clark then says, "The annual murder rate in Norway is 0.7." Temp asks, "Less than one murder a year?" I add, "People must be really nice over there then." Cam then adds, "In that case, they should solve the ones they have or they'll never get any practice." Temp then speaks, "The victim is American." Clark then says, "Still, if a Norwegian was murdered here, we'd conduct the investigation." I nod as I read their file, "But the Norwegians say the victim died here and then got shipped to Norway." Temp asks, "What's their evidence?" Cam looks at the file, "Nothing forensic. It's just police work."
I add, "The remains were found in the possession of a Norwegian black metal band. How fun." Temp asks, "What's black metal?" Clark shrugs, "I don't know; it's Norwegian. Whole different kind of black." I chuckle, "It's almost like a genre of heavy metal in which it features macabre imagery of death and horrific violence." Temp still looked confused as I think for another way to make it understandable for her. "Ah, you know the music that you would here when you sometimes enter my office, the one you say that you don't understand the rhythm or cultural meaning behind it as you could only hear is yelling?" "Yes. I still don't understand the lyrics to your songs." I nod, "Well that's something similar to Dark Metal." She nods as the other two just looked at me as if they learned something new as Cam says, "I didn't see you as a person to be into all the yelling and heavy base music type." I smile and nod, "Yeah, I get that a lot. But I use it to get myself to calm down or when I get stressed out." Clark then comments, "Ah, nothing more relaxing then hearing someone scream right in your ears. I usually prefer a quitter environment or maybe with some jazz music."
Cam then speaks, "Skalle. That's the name of the band- Skalle." Temp and I say at the same time, "It means 'skull." She looked at us surprised, "You both Speak Norwegian?" Temp first speaks, "No, I'm a forensic anthropologist. I know how to say 'skull' in just about every language." They nod as I then speak, "I actually do know how to speak Norwegian." Cam then says, "Well, Skalle..." Temp corrected her, "Skall-eh." "Skall-ay..." "Skall-eh." Cam then stopped trying to pronounce it as she continues, "They stole the body from an American metal band while on tour in DC six months ago." Temp then says, "The remains are male, late teens." Clark adds, "Significant staining on the... 'skall-EH." Temp corrected him as well as I tried not to laugh, "SKALL-eh." "It leached into the bone." Cam then adds, "Desiccated flesh on the face and scalp. Perhaps enough for DNA." I then add, "If the scraps of clothing and the boots were actually on the victim when he died, then... either Hodgins or I can get something out of it."
Cam then asks about the rib cage being open, "What's, what's the story on this?" Clark explains, "The posterior ribs were either broken or severed." I add, "Detached at the spine and then fanned out." Temp then adds, "It's the Blood Eagle." Cam was confused, "Beg pardon?" I answer, "It was an ancient torture in which the victim was held face down while his pack was sliced open. The ribs were then broken to the spine and then spread to look like an eagle, thus you get the name." Temp nods then continues with the examination, "Absence of blood on the periosteal surface of the fractures suggests the ribs were broken postmortem." Clark then speaks, "I'll remove the bones from the cross and clean them, see if we can find the cause of death." Cam then says, "This is definitely murder." Temp then argued, "There are other possibilities." Clark then says, "I have to admit none spring to mind." "One possibility: drunken, death-obsessed, Satan-worshipping, drug-abusing teens rob a grave and reenact an ancient torture." I chuckle, "You're the only one who could come up with a scenario like that Temp." Cam adds, "Ahh, just another Saturday night."
Temp, Booth, Sweets and I went to the Diner to eat and talk for a bit as Booth says, "Wait a second. What do you mean Gordon-Gordon is going to quit psychiatry?" Sweets then says, "Well, I ask him to write the intro to my book about you two. He told me he couldn't because he was retiring." Temp then asks, "Is it possible he just hated your book?" "Thank you." "Perhaps now he'll find a pursuit worthy of his intellect- neurochemistry, for example." I then speak, "I bet he will become a chef. He has been telling me that his culinary skills have improved a lot since the last time we saw him." Booth then gets a call as he answers, "Yeah. Booth. Hold on, slow down." Sweets then asks us... well mostly Temp, "Why would a man with Wyatt's insights into the human psyche want to be a mere scientist? No offense." I then say, "None taken." Temp then speaks, "Prehaps because psychology is a field which is ill-defined in conception and ineffective in execution." "Thank you." Booth has finished his call as he says, "Okay, sounds great. So Cam says we got to track down a death metal band named Spew and to let Blueberry know that she should stop give Angela recommendation songs for her to listen as many people in the lab are starting to worry about Angela's mentality."
I made a small pout as Booth continued with the case, "They're totally underground- no concerts listed, no contact information." I then ask, "A death metal band?" Booth nods, "Yeah." "But the victim's skeleton was found in the possession of a Norwegian black metal band." "Death metal, black metal, what's the difference?" I chuckle, "People who are into either Death or Black metal would be highly offended right now." Sweets nods, "She's right. In essence, death metal is about brutal technical proficiency while black metal is about emotion. Now, both of 'em exploit adolescent feelings of alienation, depression..." Booth cuts him off, "Right, 'cause it all just sounds like a truck full of cymbals crashing into a saw factory for me." "Well..." Temp then says, "Historically, picayune internecine squabbles account for a huge number of deaths." "Bones, just figure out cause of death for me, all right, 'interoserine' or whatever." He then looks at Sweets, "How do you know so much about this?" "I was really into death metal... as a teenager, not anymore. Obviously." "Really?" "Oh, come on." I ask, "Come on, what?" "Raw, raw, raw. I don't like that anymore." Booth just shakes his head as I then say, "I don't understand.... I listen to that still, its very therapeutic for me honestly." Booth and Sweets look at me weirdly as Booth says, "Of course you would find something nice out of it Blueberry." I just shrug and ate my food.
Temp and I are back at the lab with Cam and Hodgins as Temp says, "According to Booth, there's no way to track down this band Spew. No bars, clubs, or high schools." Hodgins then speaks, "The cross is carved of 120-years-old black oak and was stolen from St. Benedict Episcopal Church six months ago." Cam then adds, "That is some determined desecration going on." "Yeah, well, the bones, themselves were covered in a patina of smoke, tobacco, marijuana, meth, animal blood, semen, and saliva." Temp then asks, "Who are these people?" I then show them a file, "Sweets sent over a briefing. But concerts are set up at secret locations, and then only insiders are invited." Temp asks, "Then, how do we find them?" I smile then nudge Hodgins as he starts bringing up our discovery as I say, "Aha.... well, the dried mud from the treads of the boots that were duct-taped to the victim contained bovine fragments and infectious proteins." "A slaughter-house?" Hodgins and I nod as he says, "A slaughter-house closed down due to mad cow disease." Cam then says, "Death metal enthusiasts prefer morbid, horror-centric venues for performance. In addition, they tend to perform for their fans in the same place they practice and sometimes squat." Hodgins adds, "Like maybe this horror-centric, condemned slaughterhouse."
He shows us images of the building as Temp then asks, "Wait. How do we know that those are his boots? He was in Norway for months." I then clap, "I was waiting for you to ask that." Cam adds, "You are going to be so proud." We then start heading over to the bone examination room as Clark waited for us there. Once we entered Clark then starts to present his findings, "The victim's foot size is 11, same as his boots." Temp then says, "We need something more than a matching shoe size." I then speak, "It's alright Temp, he's not finished." Clark continues to speak, "Wear on his calcaneus and cuboid suggest our victim walked mostly on the outside of his feet." Cam adds, "Supinator." Temp then says, "One percent of the population are supinator's. That's a lot." "One percent of size 11 teenagers isn't good enough?" I then say, "Why don't you just check out his foot instead Temp." She clears her throat and nods doing so and asks, "This missing toe... did it fall off after decomposition, or was it preexisting condition?" Clark then speaks, "That's exactly what I was thinking." He then pulls up an image of the foot and the boot heating sensors as he says, "You see here? His toes left an impression inside the boot, but there is no impression corresponding with the big toe." Temp smirks as I just stay smiling as Cam asks, "Are you satisfied that this was the boot worn by the victim while he was still alive?" "It's a reasonable conclusion." Cam then looks at Clark, "You want to say, 'King of the Lab?" He shakes his head, "No." I just chuckle at the dynamic of this group.
We are on a road trip with Gordan late at night as Gordan asks us, "So, why do I have the feeling that I'm being taken somewhere terrible for a... a gangland whacking?" Temp then says, "We are going somewhere terrible." Booth gives Temp a look as she defends herself, "We are." Booth then says, "Look, we... we need your expertise." "Well, I'm sure the estimable Dr. Sweets is more than qualified." I nod, "That's true... but we want to hang out with you more." Temp then says, "Booth is lying about needing you." Booth then says, "What?" But she continues, "He wants to talk you out of quitting psychiatry." I add, "I just want to hang out a bit more." Booth then says, "Bones, I was easing into that, okay?" Gordan then says, "In a matter of fact, I might be able to help. When I was a young man, I dabbled quite extensively in the rock music scene." I ask getting excited, "Really?" Booth chuckles, "Oh, wait a second. What were you, lead dulcimer in a flute band?" "As a matter of fact, I was the founding member of a proto-glam rock outfit." Temp then says, "I don't know what that means." "It means that three glorious years, "I wore spandex, silver lame, pancake makeup, and played a guitar shaped like a spaceship. I was quite pretty in my way."
I gasp knowing who he is as Booth also realized who he is as we both say at the same time, "Wait. You were Noddy Comet." Temp asks, "What's that?" Booth then says, "Noddy Comet! I always wondered what happened to you. You were Noddy." I nod adding, "You were the one that got me to explore more into the rock world back when I was in the military. The person who looked after me during that time was a big fan of your band and had me listen to your music saying, 'These people know how to rock." Gordan nods, "I changed jobs. That's all." Booth says again, "Noddy Comet! I got to get some of those original tapes." I nod also agreeing. We finally arrived at the abandon slaughterhouse as we enter hearing death metal music playing. We duck under some shelfs as Temp covers her ears as we look at the band. Gordan then says, "Actually, you know, that fellow playing the bass is really rather good." Temp then asks, "What?" Booth was first to go up to them as we follow behind a few steps back as Booth yells, "Okay, let's shut it down, guys. Come on. FBI. Let's go!" They didn't listen to him as Booth gets closer to them, "Hey, I said... FBI. Shut it down." He shows one of the guitarist his badge as the guy spits on it.
I then say, "Oh... that isn't good." Gordon then asks, "Why?" "Because he's gonna..." Before I got to finish my sentence Booth takes out his gun and shoots their speaker multiple times. Everyone stops as Gordon then says, "Yes. Now, if you recall that it was shooting inanimate objects that had you brought to me for therapy in the first place." Booth then says, "I thought it was a justifiable shooting." I chuckle as Temp says, "I agree." Booth nods, "She agrees, see?" One of the band players then asks Booth, "You going to put your gun down?" "Don't rush me, okay?" He swipes of the spit from his badge onto the guys pants as he continues, "I'm thinking."
We are back at the FBI headquarters looking at the band from the other side of the interrogation room. Temp was talking to Booth on the phone as she says, "Well, are you coming... You're 50 feet away." Sweets and I are looking at Temp as she says, "Booth wants us to interrogate them." Sweets then says, "Yeah, he's not really supposed to be watching on his laptop and talking in your ear." Temp hangs up the phone as Sweets then hands us some files, "These are their real names: Monty Bigelow, Matt Stickney, Darrel Moss." We nod as Sweets leaves first as I stick out my hand towards Temp as she hands me one of the earpieces. We put them on and follow Sweets out into the interrogation room. We enter and take a seat in front of the band members as we hear Booth from the earpiece, "All right, Bones, Blueberry,- so just ease into this." I had a little smile seeing Temp ignoring Booth as she went directly asking the question, "What was Mayhem's real name?" Booth says, "Or you can just go at them like a freight train." The leader of the band looks at the picture, "Dabbler." Sweets then says, "His stage name was Mayhem, not Dabbler." The lead guitarist then says, "Mayhem's a dabbler. A poseur. A douche." Temp then says, "Do you want to spend time in jail, Pinhead?"
We hear Booth say, "You can't actually arrest people, Bones." The leader says, "We live in a slaughterhouse. You got something worse than that?" I think about it for a second and nod thinking that I do as Sweets says, "All right, let's start over. Tell us the name that Mayhem's mother and father gave him, and we'll charge you with assaulting a federal agent." Temp then tells Sweets, "Oh, no, you have that backwards." We hear Booth says, "No, Bones, he's right, okay? They want to be arrested." Temp nods in realization, "Oh. Reverse psychology." Sweets then tells her, "The term is almost always misused." Booth then says to us, "Look, just tell Tapeworm that felony assault is the best you can do." I did a small nod as I lean back onto the chair and calmly state, "Felony assault is the best we can do... Tapeworm." Sweets nods adding, "Take it or leave it." Pinworm tells his guitarist to tell us as he does, "Justin. Justin Dancy." Sweets asks, "When did you last see Justin?" "When I killed him, ate his heart, and took his job." Pinworm raises his hand as well, "I killed him, too." The drummer adds, "I never even noticed he was gone." The guitarist adds, "I ate his face off before I killed him."
Temp then says to me, "You are so much better at interrogation than I thought." I smile at her as Sweets says, "Those aren't legitimate confessions. All right, guys. Coe on, give us a real answer." Pinworm then says, "About a year ago, when he quit the band... How about those charges?" We then looked as Sweets stands up and leaves the room leaving us two behind. I just sigh as I nod over to Temp that we should also leave. But Pinworm then says, "Why don't we meet me in the cell later hottie?" Temp and I stop looking at him confused as Temp asks, "Are you talking to me?" Pinworm shakes his head, "No, I'm talking to the calm hot one. If you come over I could really make you scream a lot." I turn my head away from them walking out of the door without saying anything to them. Temp closes the door looking at me seeing that I was red as she says, "You get flustered way to easily." I nod, "I just can't help it Temp... I'm still not used to people complementing me or saying embarrassing out of the blue... and that was really out of the blue."
I am back at the apartment as Sweets texted me that we were going undercover at one of the bands rivalry as I texted him back that I will meet him at the location in about an hour. I had sent Angie a text on what I should where for our undercover operation as she told me not to worry that she would handle my shopping. I chuckle since I knew she wanted an excuse to go out shopping and she also has my card for these situation in which she could also use to buy herself cloths as well. 20 minutes later I had just finished taking a shower after my 10 minute nap as I get a text. I check seeing that it was Wendell as he says 'Hey, I'm right outside your apartment.' I smile and text back, 'There should be an extra key under the small potted plant. Let yourself in, I'm in my bathroom.' He texted me an okay as I change into something comfortable and go out of my room to meet Wendell. I see him entering as I say, "Hey there Bub. What got you visiting today?" He smiles, "Hey, I was just shopping and bumped into Angela. She said that she was shopping for some undercover clothes for you, but had to leave back to the lab as they called her in. So she gave me your bag and said to drop it off." I nod as he hands me a bag as I nod, "Great. Thanks a lot. You could wait here while I change." He nods as I go to my room and start to get into my getup as Wendell asks, "So what's this times undercover operation?" "Oh, I'm going to a death metal concert to check out our suspect." "Death Metal? The Jeffersonian really does get weird cases." I chuckle and nod, "Yes, we do. But what's the fun of having a simple ordinary one." He chuckles as I finished changing blushing a bit, "Ahhh, Angie... I give you way to much fun in putting up an outfit for me. Oh, well. No time to find something else."
I put some dark makeup, but not to much. I sigh walking out of my room as I say to Wendell, "Thanks for waiting out here for me." He didn't hear him reply as I looked at him seeing him in a daze like state with his mouth a bit open. I blush a bit from the attention as I go up to him and ask, "You okay there Bub?" He seems to snap out of it as he nods, "Yeah-yeah, I'm great... Uh y-you look really good." I blush a bit more, "Thanks... Uh, I should get going. I have to meet Sweets over there." He nods as I grab my keys and walk over to the door about to open it as I feel him grab my hand. I stop and looked at him as he says, "How about I take you there instead, so you don't have to worry about your car." I look at him and think about it as I nod, "Yeah, that would be great. You sure you want to take me there?" "Yeah, I'm sure. It will ease my mind a bit more seeing you get there myself." I nod putting my keys away as we walk out of the apartment to his car.
We arrived at the location Sweets sent me as I get out of the car and look around. Wendell also got out and looked around with me as I felt a hand on my shoulder as I yelp a bit grabbing the persons hand off my shoulder and twisted it. I turn and see that it was Sweets in his disguises with makeup all over his face as he yelps in pain. Wendell comes next to me hearing us as I quickly let Sweets go, "Oh, I'm sorry Sweets. You just scared me." I nods massaging his wrist, "It's alright, I'm all right." He then looks at Wendell, "Oh hey man, you joining us?" He shakes his head, 'Oh, no. I'm just dropping Venus off. Plus, I'm not dressed for the occasion." Sweets nods as I say, "What a disguises you have there Sweets. You blend in very well. I wouldn't recognize you right away." "Thanks. You look hot in that outfit." I blush as I say, "Thanks... I guess." But Wendell didn't seem so pleased hearing his compliment as he gave Sweets a glare.
He then puts his are around my shoulder making me look up at him as he says, "I'll wait for you here. Just call me when your out." I was about to nod as Sweets then says, "Oh, I could take her home dude. So you don't have to worry and wait here." I could feel Wendell pull me in closer towards him as he smiles at Sweets, "It's fine man. I don't mind waiting for her, plus we already planned to get dinner after this." I gave Wendell a confused look as Sweets just nods smiling, "All right. We'll try not to take long then." Sweets then starts walking ahead as I grabbed Wendell's hand faced towards him giving him a smile, "Well see you later then." He nods as I add, "I can't wait for this dinner that you mentioned later." I see him cough a bit as I chuckle waving at him as I catch up to Sweets. Sweets and I make it to the entrance as I see him getting a bit nervous as I ask, "You ready there Sweets?" He looks at me and nods, "Yeah... just preparing myself." I nod, "Don't worry. If anything, I'm here to protect you." He smiles, "You carrying a gun with you." I looked at him a bit stunned, "How did you know?" He looks at me shocked, "Wait! You're really carrying one with you right now?! I was just joking. Where are you even hiding it?" "I didn't know that you were joking. And I'm carrying it behind my jacket... it's the only place that you can't see it, but I'm still able to grab it quickly."
He just nods as he then says, "Oh, Dr. Brennan should be coming a bit later, so let's gather as much intel as possible." I give him a smile and a wink, "Roger that." We entered inside the large crowd of of Rockers and heavy death metal music. We blended in with the crowd, while getting information's from different people. An hour later we see Temp as we make it over to her. I see that she wasn't in disguises as looked at Sweets, "I thought you said that we had to be in disguises?" "We did. Brennan wouldn't do it with us." I nod agreeing as we go over to her as she was on the phone. Sweets grabs her arm asking her, "You ready?" She turns and looks at us asking, "Sweets? Ven?... Well, I think it's them." I then say, "We are in disguise." Sweets adds, "Yeah, we had to meld to get information." I then say, "Zorch's lead singer is Murderbreath." We see him blow fire out of his mouth as Sweets says, "Look at that. Who does he think he is? The guy with the tongue from Kiss?"
I chuckle as I add, "Zorch and Spew are sworn enemies." Sweets adds, "It started out with the fans throwing feces at each other, then some attacks." Temp then says talking to someone on the phone, "Culminating in medieval torture?" I nod, "Yeah." We then see Murderbreath taking out a knife putting it on his neck as the crowd chants, "Do it! Do it!" I then say, "Wait. He's got a knife." We watch as he slits his throat as I watched worried as Sweets says, "Nah, don't worry. It's totally fake." We see everyone cheers as he's done. But he then grabs his neck falling onto the ground. Temp then says, "That's.. not fake." I shake my head as we start running through the crowd making our way over to Murderbreath as Temp says to the person on the phone, "Murderbreath slit his own throat." We finally make it to him as I replace my hands with his putting pressure onto his throat as I say to Temp and Sweets, "We need a compress." Temp nods grabbing Sweets shirt and ripping it handing it to me as Sweets says, "You could've asked." I put the shirt onto the wound applying pressure as Temp says in the phone, "Booth, can you call it in?" She hangs up helping me as Sweets says to Murderbreath, "Help is coming." Temp tells the crowd, "Stand back, please. FBI. Stand back!"
